Dr Foster is back on Tuesday

I vaguely remember this. Can someone jog my memory please? Also how did it end ?

I quite liked the scene in the bedroom though. Where he asked her if she wanted to, it was... tense. Ha. You lose that one Simon. Although he may have been leading her on for a trick too.

stonecircle · 10/09/2017 09:26

As she gave the gift to her son to pass on, surely there was a strong chance it might have been opened in front of him? So would she really have put something embarrassing in there?

KimchiLaLa · 10/09/2017 10:50

I can't get over how weird this show is. The bedroom scene. "I've been recording this conversation. No I haven't, actually I did." She sounds like an utter freak, but it's my first episode.

KimchiLaLa · 10/09/2017 12:47

I think what freaks me out actually is Gemma's acting, the facial expressions are quite OTT.

TheSassyAssassin · 10/09/2017 13:00

Just got hugely confused about which thread I was on and was Que? Gemma wasn't acting last night I don't think? And then the penny dropped...Dr Foster...not Strictly thread. Arghhh! Bring on episode 2 though!

As you were...Blush

woodhill · 10/09/2017 13:34

Did Gemma go to the coast in the last episode as a retreat.

It beggared belief how the ex could afford that house and it looked immaculately furnished etc.

Is that where Kate's parents lived before?

colonelgoldfish · 10/09/2017 17:41

I really enjoyed the first episode for pure escapism!

I think Gemma has always been a little wild. In the first series Simon described her to neighbour she bonked as 'ferrel'. Then again in this episode Simon said something along the lines of 'were you always like this?' To which she answered 'i think you know I absolutely was'.

Part of me feels sorry for her but another part of me doesn't like her at all.

Really interested and looking forward to seeing where it all goes through. I think Gemma may transform to the OW and get under Simon's skin but purely to destroy him and Kate.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 10/09/2017 18:07

I couldn't watch. Disappointing.

hollyisalovelyname · 10/09/2017 18:18

I'd hate her to be my GP. Grin

colonelgoldfish · 10/09/2017 18:37

The part I found the most Hmm was when the neighbour (neil?) was openly ogling and eyeing up Gemma (who he'd cheated on his wife with) IN FRONT OF HER. And she just laughed it off. I would be furious!

Not sure how they got to a place where they could all just have a good laugh about that. I was agog!

RhiannonOHara · 11/09/2017 11:05

I think Simon left the patio door open on purpose, knowing Gemma would come snooping once she had his new address. Strange how he turned up like that.

That's my theory too. Especially with the two-part text: 'here's our address' and then 'just so you know' – the second one really meant 'just so you can go round and I can catch you there, because I know you WILL go round.'!

I rather enjoyed it. I like Suranne J. Happy with the melodrama and didn't notice that her accent was any different from the previous series.

TheSassyAssassin · 11/09/2017 19:14

Oh rats! Got a bloody meeting tomorrow night! Will have to watch both the episode and the thread on catch-up!

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 11/09/2017 21:18

Oh ffs. I forgot it was on.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/09/2017 04:29

Finally watched so avoided this thread till now

I enjoyed it. It's cheesey weekday drama

Love to know what was the pressie

And yes think dad has something over son to make him want to go there

Also think sending that text he knew she would appear and left door open for her to nose -no house alarm then ......

Friends sneaky not to say they were going esp friend at surgery

Trainee doc. Didn't like her. She's def gonna rub gemma up wrong way

And how /where did he get the money to buy a house like that?

Lulu3108 · 12/09/2017 09:02

I think the husband showed signs of emotional abuse. After two years he is suddenly playing games like that which is a bit random.

I think the house they live in, car and lifestyle have been bought by some kind of fraud and I think part of the plot is her finding out and exposing that.

And I think the present was some sort of recording device. When she found it in toms room she turned it on and took it with her. She made sure she gave it to Kate and told her not to tell Simon.

Spoiler - preview alert -

It shows a man knocking on her door to do a property valuation on her house? He says husband but their not married anymore? And then him speaking to the neighbour Neil. He wants to take tom away and ruin her by the looks of it.

Cant understand why he's basically already ruined her by leaving her with another woman.

NC4now · 12/09/2017 09:11

Why have they scheduled it to overlap with Bake Off?? 😭

Margomyhero · 12/09/2017 10:45

Oooh just watched this on catch up.

The bedroom scene was a bit weird. Over the top.

I didn't get the part where the couple were doing a speech and the new bride thanked Gemma and put her on the spot.

Looking forward to episode 2

Purplesky2 · 12/09/2017 11:42

I don't understand the age of the son. He was quite young in first series 10/11 and is now 15 yet only 2 years has passed!?

Openup41 · 12/09/2017 13:14

Gemma strikes me as someone who plays it safe - her clothes, her job. Any woman in her position could become deranged. I was not convinced when she said to her ex something about always being wild. It was as though she was trying to convince him she is somehow exciting. Perhaps she was wild when they first married then she got a serious job, became a mother and "lost" it. It feels like the writer is trying to recreate Gemma and it does not work for me.

dottypotter · 12/09/2017 14:45

completely unrealistic that his door would be open and she would be able to walk into his house and view it.
Also unrealistic that she went missing at the party and the timing was perfect when he turned up looking for her then his wifeturned up looking for him.

Would a Doctor really be like she is????

InigoTaran · 12/09/2017 15:57

Simon really reminds me of Jon Richardson!

Or - the new arsey GP may actually turn out to save the day at the end? She'll threaten Gem's position, turn patients against her but then drown Simon or cover it up?
Just a thought..

PhelanGood · 12/09/2017 16:06

Purplesky - I wondered this too. All I can think is that they want him to be legal (or almost) for this series. A possible affair with Kate may be on the cards if he turns 16 - much as it cringes me out. Or is that too far fetched?

RockinSushi · 12/09/2017 16:23

If the acid is strong enough to dissolve a ring that quickly won't it dissolve the needle of a syringe?
