Dr Foster is back on Tuesday

I vaguely remember this. Can someone jog my memory please? Also how did it end ?

OP posts:

I was cringing for her in the bedroom scene with Simon at his house party.

I love the programme but that scene just didn't have any purpose.

littlemissM92 · 08/09/2017 07:09

I really enjoyed first episode back however thought it was abit slow but felt like that about last series lots of bits her driving ik her car with background music on etc.

I watched it with my dp and he pisses me off when he says she's a physco and shouldn't she be over it by now and then he laughs at the ex as he does play such a good part at winding poor Gemma up!

Am I wrong to think I would completely be that hung up on it still it was toxic ... to be married that long and your husband cheat on you on your door stop with a girl young enough to be there daughter then get her pregnant and move away leaving his son THEN come back live close by in a fancy house rub her nose in it?!

Wow just typing it all out makes me Seeth lol! Looking forward to next week but hope it's abit faster paced

2rebecca · 08/09/2017 07:44

I think the rubbing her nose in it but would be true if she didn't happen to be living in his and his wife's home town. She is young with a kid and may want parental support. It highly unlikely they would have become that rich in real life but if I had left my husband after an affair and remarried 2 years later I wouldn't think I couldn't move back near my friends and relatives just because my ex lived there. I also wouldn't deliberately choose a small house to keep my ex happy.

2rebecca · 08/09/2017 07:53

I think if the roles were reversed and Gemma had had the affair and moved back people would understand her moving back to her home town with a small kid and to be near her son and think her ex creepy and not moving on if he behaved like Gemma

SinisterBumFacedCat · 08/09/2017 09:12

But let's not forget Simon smashed her head into a glass door. If Ros can still support him after that she's a shit friend.

It seemed like everyone was telling her to "get over it and move on", I hope she tells them to fuck off. It's kind of up to her how soon she wants to "move on".

Cagliostro · 08/09/2017 10:44

Not caught up with thread yet but I enjoyed the ridiculousness of the first episode. If G dealt with it all well and sensibly then there wouldn't be any point in the programme!

I was convinced she would find Tom shagging in the garden so I reckon the PP who said Simon is blackmailing him is right.

Also I googled thanks to them being named on this thread but fucking hell HOW expensive are Lelo vibrators?!

(That autocorrected to Lego vibrators which would be somewhat... uncomfortable.)

TeaRosa · 08/09/2017 11:44

I wonder if sales of Lelos have suddenly increased.

merrygoround51 · 08/09/2017 11:56

To those who are saying its unbelievable;

My father left my mother and she reacted in a similarly unhinged way to Dr Foster so I can see how it could happen.

My mother was obsessed by the fact that my father moved on so easily and to this day (almost 30 years later) she cant let it go.

What doesn't ring true to me is the transformation from totally together and happily married to totally deranged in the space of a few weeks.

littlemissM92 · 08/09/2017 11:58

Merry that's what I was trying to say to my dp it's so believable that you would behave like that I hope I never experience it but wow I would make his life hell if it ever happened. I hope she gets revenge i really do but I can't quite place what I think she's heading for

merrygoround51 · 08/09/2017 12:04

Little I do think you are in some ways pre-disposed to acting in this way, either by a sustained period of being misled and undermined by your partner or by a propensity to being somewhat fragile anyway.

What I cant get with Dr Foster is that she didnt have either of these but she still went off the deep end.

Despite having lived through it I still cannot comprehend how parents damage their children with their actions post break up.
I get that the cheater is at fault but I would like to think I would avoid involving the kids in my vengeance

NikiBarbie · 08/09/2017 12:20

I cant believe Gemma picked up and switched on the vibrator.

Its reasonable to assume they are often just put back in the drawer afterwards.

Shudder.

Inkanta · 08/09/2017 13:39

This is a great drama. Love it!

Can't imagine how she can pull this back.

He seems to be holding all the cards.

But she will! Smile

Beingrippedoff · 08/09/2017 14:09

niki she's a GP so wouldn't be phased by bodily secretions!

merry she was misled for 2 years, that's pretty sustained. Plus her parents both died when she was young so I think she would be more fragile than it might seem at first

I've remembered my favourite bit, it was when Gemma left the fancy new house and 'accidentally' bashed her car door into exh's shiny new motor 😆

LaGattaNera · 08/09/2017 14:12

I loved the first series but just didn't enjoy the episode on Tuesday at all. Will persevere though!

heyheymymy · 08/09/2017 14:28

Just watched season two's first episode. Am I the only one who thought at the end she was going to attempt suicide? I feel so bad for Gemma. Ros is a terrible friend. Everyone in this show is pretty terrible. I understand Tom is only 15 but he just has so much contempt for his Mum which I don't think is deserved at all. Sad

troodiedoo · 08/09/2017 16:20

I thought she was going to burn herself with acid and possibly blame it on him.

jazzmatazz · 08/09/2017 18:34

I thought she was going to burn herself with acid and possibly blame it on him.

Best theory yet

Fanciedachange17 · 08/09/2017 19:01

Now someone has mentioned Simon's teeth I can't stop looking at them. Are they real or false for the drama? I would have thought he's have had them sorted in RL.

Watched the episode again and it was less cringy and almost understandable (if brazen) with Gemma turning up uninvited. She's got the hide of a rhinoceros.

derxa · 08/09/2017 19:17

Is Bertie Carvell gay?

Fanciedachange17 · 08/09/2017 20:27

Does is matter if he is?

Fanciedachange17 · 08/09/2017 20:27

it. Wish there was an edit button.

EB123 · 08/09/2017 21:22

We watched it last night, it was very unbelievable but I will be watching next week!

applecatchers36 · 08/09/2017 21:35

Watched today on catch up as result of this thread. Enjoyable melodramatic soap. Gripping and will definitely watch again despite all the implausible plot lines Wink

ConcreteUnderpants · 09/09/2017 10:15

I love it! My guilty pleasure! Remove brain cells, get the chocolate out and veg. Fantastic melodrama stuff.

Niki I too was a bit urgh when she picked up the vibe. Especially when it looked like she was going to sniff it.

Cannot stand Ros. She has been a 2-faced shit throughout the series. But I can't wait to find out what's in the box (I'm guessing a tracking device or something) and to see what role the new annoying doctor has, as I feel there is something more to her.

Cagliostro · 09/09/2017 19:02

I think the new doc will usurp her at work so Gemma won't even have that anymore. The humiliation is just awful, I can't imagine finding out (in series one) how everyone knew.

I really think the poster who suggested that the pool will be the end of Simon has nailed it. You're right, she did mention something about him being unable to swim.

Glad it's not just me who fancied Simon... totally did the first time I watched it. But now I can't believe I did because I hate him so much more.
