Dr Foster is back on Tuesday

I vaguely remember this. Can someone jog my memory please? Also how did it end ?

I thought the first series was pish. I only watched the new episode as an accompaniment to this thread Grin

I do the same with the likes of Celebrity Big Brother and X Factor.

Anon511 · 06/09/2017 20:55

I really hope it doesn't go well for Simon and Kate. They are so mean and smug. They are not good people.

rasmusklump · 06/09/2017 20:58

Putkettle, that's exactly where I disengaged too! No way would any respectable GP go along with a patient propositioning then during an appointment! Totally unbelievable and silly.

Putkettleonlove · 06/09/2017 21:26

Rasmus plus am struggling to believe at the ripe old age of 36 (going back 2 years to series 1) she is the senior partner of this big practice too and had a teenage son. Mind you love her work dresses but agree those nude colored block heels were heinous 😂

ginghamstarfish · 06/09/2017 21:41

Enjoyable tosh but agree it's worth watching to see the smug couple get their comeuppance. Also this kind of story always makes me think it's funny how the OW never thinks that if he's cheated once he might just do it again ...

BuzzKillington · 06/09/2017 22:14

I watched it this afternoon while I was ironing, in my defence, there was nothing else on.

It is very silly, isn't it?

Would a florist deliver a card with 'Bitch' on it? I doubt it. The huge vat of nitric acid to dissolve one little ring Confused

The dialogue is extremely unbelievable - from every character.

Small little drinks party, but with garden bedecked and illuminated like Kew gardens at Christmas.

And of course the older, wronged ex-wife and mother is every bit as attractive as the much younger woman he left her for. Just like real life Hmm

But, belief needs to be suspended for it to be entertaining. And I will def watch next week!

newjobblewobble · 06/09/2017 22:15

I found it all a bit weird that they would have their wedding party on a Sunday, when he would go to work the next day, the son would go to school. I mean it was in their house, why not a Friday or Saturday night? Confused

Imbroglio · 06/09/2017 22:30

The strangest thing is that they achieve their lifestyles and run their parties without any sign of domestic help.

BorisTrumpsHair · 06/09/2017 22:38

Simon and YOW must have spent an awfully big chunk of the last 2 years shopping.

Glad I wasn't the only one marvelling at Gemma's exceedingly ugly shoes. I do fugly shoes myself, but they were plain ugly.

BorisTrumpsHair · 06/09/2017 22:40

What I learnt from S1 - don't overthink it. Pay attn and go along for the ride.

Remember it's as deep as a puddle.

wineusuallyhelps · 06/09/2017 22:44

I can hardly stand Gemma or her hanging bit of hair.

The husband is repulsive in this series. When she was pressing up against him etc. it was so cringey and nauseating.

The whole thing is ridiculous.

But I know I will watch it next week, like people who rubber-neck on the motorway when there's an incident Grin

Luncharmstrong · 06/09/2017 22:51

She's going to put acid in that swimming pool.
Then put Simon in the pool

Luncharmstrong · 06/09/2017 22:52

Fugly shoes with American tan tights.

crumbsinthecutlerydrawer · 06/09/2017 23:20

Either the swimming pool or the lube she was sniffing. She'll entice him into bed then watch his cock melt away.

Or maybe not.

BadTasteFlump · 07/09/2017 10:15

Watched this last night - what an absolute pile of tosh.

So many holes in the plot but for me the worst part was the terrible acting - from just about all the cast. Maybe they were just struggling not to cringe their way through the awful dialogue.

Sheitgeist · 07/09/2017 10:26

Just caught up.
Yes, unbelievable shite, but hey, if it were all realistic and plausible it would be pretty boring. I'm just going to enjoy it as a good, crap thriller.
I do wonder though how she had time to have a baby in her early - mid 20's when she would have been med student/ junior doctor and working 30 hour days.

Does anyone think Tom might have looked at the present (remember, he didn't give it to Kate) and it's that that's made him angry with his mum? Perhaps he's even switched it for something else?

BadTasteFlump · 07/09/2017 10:31

Hmm I don't know, I was trying to make sense of it last night and then wondered why I was bothering Grin.

I thought Tom was ok with Kate after the party, if a bit sulky. I read in the write up of the episode that he apparently left because she embarrassed him by going out with his teacher. And on that note - why oh why did that teacher want to see her again - or even hang around at the party? Surely that was the worst first date ever with red flags flapping all over her looney self....

derxa · 07/09/2017 10:31

I love her demented driving!

Maudlinmaud · 07/09/2017 10:38

The teacher deserted her at the party and was making his own when home when she appeared outside with Tom. He then offered her a lift in his waiting taxi. I think he must find her interesting and very hot to want a second date and she initially brushed him off. It's all quite strange. I'm not allowed to date my GP am I?

CatastropheKate · 07/09/2017 10:54

Off work on bed rest so might just have to watch it again now backed up by the theories and details pointed out by all on here. Thanks all, look forward to next week :-)

TheBadgersMadeMeDoIt · 07/09/2017 10:59

But you have to move on. If you don't, that way madness lies.

Exactly. But that's what the show is about, right? If Gemma just pulled herself together, accepted the new reality and walked away to embrace a new life and free herself of the past, there wouldn't be a series. (Or at least, a very different series.)

We all know that's exactly what she should do...but for many reasons (not least her manipulative ex rubbing her nose in his success and happiness) she is struggling to let go of the bitterness. I very much want to see the deceitful slug get his just rewards, and his smug, deluded little trophy wife too.

2rebecca · 07/09/2017 11:08

Is she a trophy wife? Gemma's an attractive GP so not exactly dowdy overweight housewife.
I thought Kate was quite perceptive in her comments to Gemma and did just state the truth rather than play mind games. She's been flattered by the attentions of an older bloke whose charms totally elude me.
I don't get the Kate hate.

jazzmatazz · 07/09/2017 11:57

What about when she was all "I've recorded this conversation on my phone....I haven't really....actually I have! Or have I...."

Sheitgeist · 07/09/2017 11:57

I don't get the Kate hate

Really? She stole someone's husband, broke up a family, was complicit in a 2 year tissue of lies, deceit, embezzlement and is apparently unashamed.
Not much to like there, surely?

2rebecca · 07/09/2017 12:05

You can't "steal" husbands.
