I think I prefer the chat to the actual program

aayla · 22/08/2017 19:58

Why was Sansa so keen to send Brienne away?
Does that show that she doesn't trust Littlefinger?

CeeBeeBee · 22/08/2017 20:01

Ok, my mistake re Sansa not killing anyone before. Killing Ramsay was an act of revenge and justice in her part.

I can't see her doing the same to Arya.

badabing36 · 22/08/2017 20:08

Thanks for the NK info upthread arya.

In the books Lyanna has an older sister, I can't remember her name but they call her she-bear which is cool. I'm guessing she dies though as she's not been in the show and she supports Stannis.

I thought she was going to be a good option for jon along with that karstark and Val. Not many wife options for jon apart from danerys in the show

yumyumpoppycat · 22/08/2017 20:09

I may have drank the best part of a bottle of wine before posting that {hic}

I don't think Sansa is a killer - she is a survivor, but maybe a touch psychotic. LF deaded yes Arya hopefully no.

I think Castor story was the worst story so far, I wonder if they will come back to it with little boy WWs or just pretend it never happened.

yumyumpoppycat · 22/08/2017 20:11

Badabing - There are even fewer good options for Dany, if this was proper Hollywood the scroll would have revealed they weren't related

AryaUnderfootNowPrefersSansa · 22/08/2017 20:12

badabing in the books Lyanna has an older sister called Dacey who was killed at the red wedding along with (show only) their mother Maege. In the books Maege is still alive and off looking for Howland Reed.

She has another sister called Alysanne who is with Stannis Baratheon's men and Asha Greyjoy (battle for Winterfell has yet to happen).

There are three more sisters - Lyra, Jory (Jorelle) and one who isn't named.

It is Lyanna, however, who sends the letter to Stannis saying the Mormont's will not accept him as King.

Olenna you definitely need to keep the username as tribute to the Queen of Thorns!

yumyumpoppycat · 22/08/2017 20:13

Sansa and Jon aren't related...

yumyumpoppycat · 22/08/2017 20:14

Oh fuck they are ... more wine!

AryaUnderfootNowPrefersSansa · 22/08/2017 20:14

I like the idea of Jon and Val, but I think it's not happening.

Ghost likes Val. That pretty much says it all!

badabing36 · 22/08/2017 20:17

Wow that's a lot of mormonts. I really need to read the books again once it's not enough.

badabing36 · 22/08/2017 20:18

yumyumpoppycat Grin

AryaUnderfootNowPrefersSansa · 22/08/2017 20:22

Once is definitely not enough. There were so many 'Easter eggs' and stuff I missed the first time through.

AryaUnderfootNowPrefersSansa · 22/08/2017 20:22

And I still want to know what became of Tyrek 'Wet Nurse' Lannister...

badabing36 · 22/08/2017 20:27

I liked Val too even though she was a bit of a bitch about Shireen and the greyscale.

Puffpaw · 22/08/2017 20:28

arya About Craster.... I assumed he only gave his sons as an offering to the Others because he wanted to keep his daughters to be his wives.
I agree with this but it still doesn't explain why their are no female white walkers in the show. I'm assuming the white walkers are very old, given that they are undead, and have probably had thousands of years to capture wilding babies of both sexes, or get female white walkers by other means?
Can't wait for next week, what will Cersei do? Tyrian talking about succession and Dany trotting off to KL must be significant. None of the main houses have any babies now. Will Samwell rock up at the meeting?

yumyumpoppycat · 22/08/2017 20:29

matchmaking in Westeros is not uncomplicated Grin wildings do seem the best option.

I need to watch that episode AND all the books again. Bloody hell wish little sister Yumyum would hurry up and read them.

Puffpaw · 22/08/2017 20:30

Who was Val?

yumyumpoppycat · 22/08/2017 20:31

I am guessing there weren't many women in medieval armies Joan of arc excluded.

Doobigetta · 22/08/2017 20:36

I'd assumed that the white walkers we see are Craster's children, and that something in the Night King's magic makes them grow up fast. I don't think there's a nursery full of WW toddlers anywhere.

SandyBeachandtheDeckchairs · 22/08/2017 20:43

When the NK dies all of the wights he created will die too I guess? I assume that will include the Craster babies...

(I've namechanged by the way, was Sarf earlier on in the thread)

OlennasWimple · 22/08/2017 20:51

Val was Dalla's sister. Dalla was married to Mance, but died giving birth to a little boy.

Val is quite a looker, and I had her down as a wife for Jon. I think Alys Karstark gets married off to someone else on the books?

I hope D&D haven't forgotten about Edmure Tully, his wife Roslyn and their baby... Though given how slowly baby Sam has grown up, maybe we haven't missed anything...

AryaUnderfootNowPrefersSansa · 22/08/2017 20:53

Puffpaw Val was the sister of Mance Rayder's pregnant girlfriend Dalla. Dalla had Mance's baby during the battle for the wall and then died. Val looked after the baby and was staying at Castle Black with Mance, Stannis and Melissandre. She helped negotiate the surrender or Tormund and his people and so they were allowed through the wall.

Val and Jon had 'chemistry' (more so than Jon/Dany in my opinion). She was considered a 'Willdling pricness' and Stannis offered Jon Winterfell with Val as his bride.

Mance Rayder was not killed in the books and went to try to infiltrate Winterfell for Stannis against Ramsey. It is not clear whether he is still alive.

AryaUnderfootNowPrefersSansa · 22/08/2017 20:54

X-post with Olenna.

Alys Karstark marries the Magnar of Thenn - I think it's Sigorn or something like that (off to Google).

Puffpaw · 22/08/2017 21:05

Thank you for explaining about Val. I liked Mance Rayder.
I think I'm going to have to read the books!
