Great episode, but some annoying silliness in the battle scene at the end.
The Lannister army gets completely surprised by thousands of Dothraki. You would think that somebody would have worked out the concept of scouts by now. But every major battle scene relies on the surprise appearance of Dothraki / Euron's fleet / Euron's fleet (again) / the Lannister army / Knights of the Vale. Good for drama though I suppose.
I'm always annoyed that the show seems to present the Dothraki as a fearsome army, but in reality, they don't have armour, they only have some ineffective looking swords and bows and it is really difficult to fight on horseback. Whereas the Lannisters are thousands of years ahead of them in weaponry with armour, shields, spears and shield wall tactics. Would probably be an easy win for the Lannisters, were it not for the dragon.
The Dothraki start their charge from too far back and just charge straight at a wall of shields rather than trying to attack the sides, or from behind. Stupid.
Bronn, running to get to the scorpion keeps getting attacked by Dothraki, but once he reaches it, nobody bothers attacking him and he is able to reload and shoot several times. He also turns out to be a miracle marksman with a weapon he has never used before. Bronn is great though.
Jamie charges Daenerys (great idea to start with), but then Bronn materialises out of nowhere to save him. Then Jamie sinks into the depths although he was riding along the shallows on the edge of the water. Must get deep really quickly. Jamie obviously not going to die (yet) as he has plot armour. If it was me, I'd have found some archers and got them to target Dany.
It was great to see how deadly dragons are in battle. As long as you don't think about the details too much.
Best moment in the episode for me was Brans "Chaos is a ladder" to Littlefinger.
Arya now has a Valerian steel dagger, hmmm I wonder what that will be used for.
