Grin at Valyrian Steel Plot Armour. I thought it was Bronn who saved him too!

chronicleink · 08/08/2017 09:02

There's no way Sansa was 'jealous' watching Ayra fight, I thought it was more of a - what the hell has happened to my little siblings. Bran's some weird mystic hippy who want give a straight answer, and Ayra's a flipping dead eyed killing machine bent on revenge...

weaselwords · 08/08/2017 09:06

I used to have a horse that wouldn't walk out through puddles, much less gallop towards a dragon. RIP Jaime's brave grey.

And it was totally Bron that saved him in the deep pond of convenience.

ElenaGreco123 · 08/08/2017 09:16

EllaHen no-one can protect me Good catch.
In the books Sansa inadvertently describes Jon as her knight in shining armour, in the show it is Arya.

As the show writers don't seem too bothered with consistency, that dagger could be the one that was used to create the Nights King.

rollonthesummer · 08/08/2017 09:43

I can't help but think that the having seen a dragon swooping towards them (ooh, shit-thought they were all a bit mythical or all long-dead) which then starts roasting large numbers of them, more of them would have broken the formation and run for the hills?! I think I would have done!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 08/08/2017 10:38

How did a dagger create the Night's King? I don't remember that bit at all.

Wasn't it Tyrion's dagger originally? Or am I mixing up storylines?

Thank you Arya and Elena for answering stupid questions kindly!

Loved the episode! Have loved every battle GoT has done.

All the grain is not burnt - Jaime and Randyll were talking at the start about how they had to leave some people behind to supervise the gathering in of the harvest. And the gold is not in KL yet- Cersei and the banker were talking as though it was, but she said it was en route, and he was pretty clear about the fact that all the help he was offering on behalf of the Iron Bank was contingent on receipt of payment for the debt.

I think and desperately hope it will be Jaime who finally kills Cersei. Not Tyrion, not Arya with her face or anyone else's. It should be Jaime. I think the narrative demands it. Simple, powerful and fitting for his character arc (admittedly bastardised somewhat by the show) and for hers.

rollonthesummer · 08/08/2017 10:54

I thought Jamie/elder Tarly were talking before the dragon appeared and said the gold was safely through the gates at KL?

BlueKarou · 08/08/2017 10:59

The gold is gone. The grain is still out there. Although it was a bit confusing, as there was the scene with Jaime, Bronn and the Tarlys, and J told B to go with and to ruffle some farmer feathers. Then they all ride off, but the next scene has them all together again. They couldn't possibly have had time to get the grain and get back to the caravan - not as we're still in Cersei's 2 week repayment window.

I was a little choked up when Arya got back to Winterfell... and then on tenterhooks when Jon and Theon came face to face.

Where is the Hound at the moment? Strolling up to Eastwatch? Presumably the wildlings will get there first, and he'll pitch up a little later...

EsmesBees · 08/08/2017 11:09

I thought the same rollonthesummer. Me and DH were doing the Monty Python 'run away, run away' to each other when the dragon showed up.

BlueKarou · 08/08/2017 11:11

Did they? Will have to rewatch after work. I was sure the gold wasn't back yet. Mark Gatiss definitely said to Cersei that they'd do all these things together, but only when the gold got back. I would've thought we'd see Cersei and Jaime and the gold if they'd got back to Kings Landing.

ZacharyQuack · 08/08/2017 11:16

I'm pretty sure that's Bronn saving Jaime. He's wearing a leather jacket, not armour.

Old Tarot definitely mentions the gold being delivered in full.

Is Dany going to steal the
Winterfell food supplies for her army? That would go down well...

I didn't remember the Children/first men alliance from the books.
I was going from the specific show reveal about the Night King which is odd when compared to the Cave.

Yamayo · 08/08/2017 11:26

Tarly not Tarot. My autocorrect clearly doesn't like him.

BeyondQueenOfLists · 08/08/2017 11:26

Yeah that is surely bronn, looking at the stills

ElenaGreco123 · 08/08/2017 13:50

I am not an avid show-watcher, so forgive me if I misunderstood this. When the First Men (e.g. Starks, Blackwoods, Royces) arrived to Westeros, the continent was inhabited by the Children of the Forest. There was a bloody war. In the show The Children captured (probably) a Stark and pushed a dagger into his heart turning him into The Nights King. This the Children regretted When the NK turned on them. Later the Children and the First Men fought together against The Others / NK in the Long Night.
In the book the peace agreement between the First Men and the Children involved setting up the faces in the weirwoods, as kind of a CCTV network. It probably gave some commitment / border duty to the Starks. Hence "Winter is coming" and "There must always be a Stark in Winterfell".

ElenaGreco123 · 08/08/2017 13:52

TooExtra there are no stupid questions in GoT.
The Hound is on his way to the Wall with the Brotherhood without Banners.

Yamayo · 08/08/2017 14:02

Elena I'm not sure the show described all of this.
We've had the reveal of the First (only?) Night King.
The more the story unfolds the less i can see the North not becoming independent.
Irony would be the conquering Targaryen stays south as the barren queen (unless the prophecy is cryptically wrong) and the reluctant Targaryen becomes the first king of the new northern kingdom.

By the way shout out to Bran shutting down Littlefinger fake sympathy and binding attempts. Chaos is a ladder indeed...

OlennasWimple · 08/08/2017 14:24

Definitely Bronn who pushed Jaime into the water.

Loved that final shot; echoed the long shot of Bran falling from the window back in season 1. Remember what Jaime said to Cersei straight after? "The things we do for love". Shows how far Bronn has come that he abandons the bag of money to save his commander (possibly at the cost of his own life)

Tyrion is only on Team Dany because he had to get far from Westeros and ended up in her court, where he was able to play a useful role and she gave him the respect that he has desperately craved. (And she has dragons, which he loves) I wouldn't be surprised if he switched to Team Jaime (if he outlives Cersei) or Team Jon

I agree that the arrow that hit drogon might be poison tipped - or if not future Ines will be. Why else call it scorpion?

OlennasWimple · 08/08/2017 14:37

Presumably Drogon is going to go the same way as Khal Drogo....?

WingMirrorSpider · 08/08/2017 14:39

The gold was definitely delivered back to KL. It would have made it too easy for Dany and co. if Cersei didn't have the gold to pay off the Iron Bank. Now, even though the Lannister army has been a bit incinerated thinned out, she's got the cash for the golden company that she mentioned to Mycroft. That would have been a pointless conversation and plot point if she immediately lost the gold.

WingMirrorSpider · 08/08/2017 14:42

I don't agree about the dragon arrow being poisoned. I think that sort of weapon is called a scorpion because it looks a bit like one. I think it's a real historical weapon, possibly Greek

HaveToBeSure · 08/08/2017 15:01

I think Tyrion clearly fell in love with Dany last series and came to truly believe in her. I think he'll try to temper her madness and persuade Jaime to join with her (the fact that he killed her dad being brushed over in the name of new alliances just like with Tyrion and Ellaria re Myrcella and Oberon - some obvious resentment and sniping but that's it). I don't think he'll abandon her just yet.

Love Davos trying to flirt with Missendei. lol'd at Tyrion Meldrew apparently no longer capable of pronouncing Casterly Rock.

Jmangel · 08/08/2017 15:20

So is Bron still alive?
