That poor puppy Sad

I promise I don't scream at our dog as much as I did in that post BlushGrin.

MrsBotox · 11/08/2017 09:42

If that woman who was said to be a Leonburger breeder in Peterborough is genuine, I hope the KC or whoever has an interest will be able to identify her. That was truly shocking. Why was a 10-week pup out on the street? What about its jabs?
All the owners so far (apart from mountain rescue man) have been incompetent and the so-called expert isn't much cop either.
The woman with 5 kids who wants a 'therapy dog' for her son??? That's an 8-week old pup who is going to be treated as a plaything.
I am going to complain to the BBC

cowgirlsareforever · 11/08/2017 09:45

It was painful to watch. Truly painful.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 11/08/2017 09:46

I think I'll join you MrsBotox.

So far there the only responsible owner was the mountain rescue dog.
Shocking.

We sat like this Shock and Confused through the whole thing.
How many episodes still to come?

MrsBotox · 11/08/2017 10:04

I have just filled out a complaint on BBC website. Just Google BBC complaints and follow instructions.

fortifiedwithtea · 11/08/2017 11:31

Place marking. Recorded last nights show, haven't seen it yet.

roundtable · 11/08/2017 12:22

The woman with 5 dc had already rehomed one puppy.

She really should have taken in an already trained older therapy dog. Madness.

The more I think about that programme, the angrier it makes me. Most of those puppies are being subjected to cruelty. Unless the twist is it's a massive advert for the rspca and how not to be a dog owner.

olliegarchy99 · 11/08/2017 13:36

I always understood the therapy dogs need professional training.
Undoubtedly a dog can assist a family where there is a child with autism but nowhere in the program did it explain how said puppy was being trained.
The mother with 5 children would not have the time to train (a puppy requires a lot of attention) and really a grown up already trained therapy dog would be so much better.
I feel angry about this program because it is glossing over the situations where anyone who cares about puppies and how they are treated in the homes they find themselves in would have stepped in and said 'enough - this is not right'
These puppies are being used in a 'big brother' type situation in a reality program where the humans may have agreed to be shown, the dogs certainly did not consent to be ill-treated for the sake of entertainment Angry

Theseaweed · 11/08/2017 13:48

I was hoping there would be a thread.
We recently bought a puppy after several years, yes years, of consideration as I knew how hard it would be and also to wait until my youngest DC was at an age where I could trust them with a puppy.
Some of these families are shocking! I do think the Vaughans are now on the right track with Poppy and I wonder if they edited out the parents telling Isadora off? But most shocking is Delia. Who the hell would let a puppy go to a new owner, who had no provisions with them and was going to carry them on a train for 4 hours. She was completely unprepared, no basket, proper bedding etc and she lives in a flat! It wasn't puppy proofed in any way. Complete idiot.

missyB1 · 11/08/2017 14:04

I could hardly bear to watch last night Sad That awful idiot Delia, the knobhead couple with Butch, the woman with 5 kids who thought she had time and space for a puppy! Honestly I despair!

MyBeloved · 11/08/2017 14:36

Agree with everything already said. Im RAGING!

TheHoundsofLove · 11/08/2017 15:30

I also wish to add my anger! Angry These people have clearly been chosen for 'entertainment' purposes; I don't think for a second that they are a fair representation of 10 random families. A far better programme, IMO, would be to have followed 10 rescue dogs in their new homes, but I suppose that would lack the puppy cuteness factor....Sad Or, it would have been better if they had chosen a properly responsible breeder and followed a single litter of puppies.

BluePheasant · 11/08/2017 18:22

It really annoyed me. It could have been a really nice, informative programme but as usual they had to find all the extremes in order for it to be "entertaining". Total crap BBC.

Aeroflotgirl · 11/08/2017 19:08

That woman with the 5 children who wanted a therapy dog, she already rehomed one puppy. What if this puppy gets a bit boisterous, is she going to rehome him? Its not automatically going to be a therapy dog with all the whistles and bells, you need to take time to train a puppy like that. I see her and Delia rehoming their puppies Sad. I have never had a dog, but even I have more commonsense than them.

MrsBotox · 11/08/2017 19:24

Come on, join me in complaining to BBC. No use in just moaning amongst ourselves.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 11/08/2017 19:45

Therapy dog my arse.
It's a little Labrador pup, not trained or anything.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 11/08/2017 19:46

Sorry Aeroflot, I'm angry with her, my post is a bit unclear.

Aeroflotgirl · 11/08/2017 21:55

No don't worry about it Chardonnay😃. Bloody awful. I have a dd who is 10 and has ASD and learning difficulties and a ds 5. We would like a dog at some point as a companion to her, but not now as my son is full on and I don't think I could cope with looking after it at the moment. When he's 5 years older, yes. How tgat woman with 5 kids is going to cope, I don't know. Apart from that mountain rescue guy and, the older couple, they are all not suitable really. Especially Delia, that's one of the worse ones, along with therapy dog family.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 11/08/2017 21:59

BBC site won't accept my postcode, I'll try again tomorrow after I sort out my internet problems, am on mobile now, so that might be it.

Definitely complaining though.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 12/08/2017 16:43

If I were the breeder I woukd not have let her have the puppy. Tbh Aero I don't think much of the breeder. She (Delia) lives in an upstairs flat which will be terrible for that poor pups joints. A lot of giant breed breeders won't sell to homes where more than a couple of steps are essential on a daily basis. All the episodes so far have made me rage numerous times Angry

ItsNachoCheese · 12/08/2017 16:57

I havent watched any of the episodes and by the sounds of it im glad i havent...

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 15/08/2017 10:35

Thanks MrsBotox I've never complained about a TV programme before but I've complained on the BBC website just now. I wasn't sure I'd be able to, as I'm not in the UK, but it worked and I've asked for a reply so I'll update if I hear back.

I'm going to keep watching but I think there's a designer crossbreed next week Hmm.

Eleventybillionfucks · 15/08/2017 12:28

Just finished watching this and none of those people should have dogs i was appalled at the lack of care and any understanding or knowledge from any of them its as if they just decided the day before to go get a cute puppy and off they went !! And that so called dog expert should have intervened more with that annoying loud woman and stopped her getting a leonberger. How her neighbous below haven't had her evicted yet i don't know

MrsBotox · 15/08/2017 17:40

This is the reply I've had from the BBC. So the pups were not at risk? Just stressed, manhandled and teased. So that's OK then.

Thank you for contacting us about 10 Puppies and Us.

We’re sorry you felt the programme set a bad example to dog owners.

We raised your concerns with the production team who explained that the programme is observational in nature and aims to truthfully reflect the situation that many families find themselves in when they first get a puppy. As the series goes on we will see the progress they make and how their attitudes and approaches to pet ownership change and develop.

We can also assure you that animal trainers and experts were consulted throughout the filming process to monitor the welfare of the dogs and ensure that they were not at risk. The programme made clear that some of the training methods featured are widely debated and that there are a number of different views on their use. We hope this has gone some way towards addressing your concerns.

Thank you again for contacting us.

Trufflethewuffle · 15/08/2017 17:59

The parents of Isadora are a pair of complete wet farts. Their drippy way of dealing with their children was useless. That poor puppy.

Apart from anything else, I was cringing while they were all hanging over the puppy in a bed right in front of a lit woodburner. How neither the puppy nor the young children got burnt is beyond me.
