I think Sam will wake up in the ITU and eventually go to find Cartwright, Hunt and the others, as they are now.

There'll be a lovely scene with Cartwright experiencing Deja Vu when she meets him.

I need to get out more, don't I?

trailer for the last one? I read an interview with Jon Simm who said the last episode makes Lord of the Rings look simplistic !

[agree about 'Oh yes' from Hunt]

Moomin · 03/04/2007 23:24

was the instrumental bit when they were chasing round the boxing club 'Strange Brew' by Cream?

SueBaroo · 03/04/2007 23:49

"Oh Yes", indeed. I've had a crush on Mr Hunt for loooong time. And Sam Tyler. And Tennants Doctor. Not that I'm greedy or owt..

Molesworth · 03/04/2007 23:57

Can't see the attraction of Jon Simm, he's a bit ferrety

Also, although generally Sam Tyler is pretty cool, he looked like an office berk when he collared Annie in the corridor at the end

No trailer for the last one, the pesky swines!

I thought Sam being all drunk and wobbly at the end was sweet. It wouldn't have been if he'd been Gene, but he's got this cute 'will-you-be-my-girlfriend' vibe going on with Annie, and she was obviously well up for it, if only he'd had the flippin' gumption.

madamez · 04/04/2007 00:26

SueBaroo: can't watch doctor who (muttermutter) because mr Tennant reminds me far far too much of v. illadvised shag with work colleague 10 years ago. Work colleague was not David Tennant I promise you all but did look like him..

Oh, and who else nearly dropped their tuna butty supper on the floor at the site of Mr Glenister in his nice white vest?

SueBaroo · 04/04/2007 00:31

madamez, I'm like that about the lead singer bloke in Westlife. Spitting image of an old boyfriend who turned out to be gay, and I just can't watch him (Never mind that it's Westlife!!)

having said that, I married a fella who's a bit Tennant-ish, so I can't complain. And I don't

But I prefer DCI Hunt in his shirtsleeves meself.

Moomin · 04/04/2007 00:35

Know what you mean - the vest even reminded me of the string ones men used to wear in the 70s.... and I suddenly got a hankering for a brute of a man (i.e. Gene Hunt) to come back stinking drunk at the end of a night at the club, stinking of double diamond and fags... I'll have been watching the Generation Game earlier on, then Parkinson and I'll just be thinking about taking my girdle off and going to bed when he comes home and he ends up having his wicked way with me halfway up the stairs with his trousers round his thighs as he can't even be arsed taking them off.

whatever's happened to my feminist principles? ... and lol thinking about dh doing the same- he gets very short shrift if he comes home drunk and up for it!

madamez · 04/04/2007 00:41

Moomin: not entirely sure if I feel queasy or aroused by that alarmingly vivid image,
But then, that's the whole thing with fantasies. They're quite often about stuff we wouldn't much like or which is either physically impossible or distinctly unadvisable if it were actually to happen. It's fine to imagine whatever we want to imagine (and it;s also even more fun to be gooing oo, mmm, with mates and sharing the same smutty speculations about the same person or persons...)

Though anyone who has erotic thoughts about, say , In the Night Garden probably needs a large gin and a lie down.

DeviousDaffodil · 04/04/2007 07:41

I cannot bear to think how my life will be without my weekly dribble over gene hunt!
He is just so ......if only I had been that litle old lady
I was wondering if the DCI was Sam from the future or Sam's surgeon as he seemed to know what was going on in Sam head.
Please don't end, pleasedon't end !

WelshBoris · 04/04/2007 07:42

OOoooooh Gene Hunt you filthy swine in a white vest

mummy2aaron · 04/04/2007 08:26

How about Sam is Internal Affairs from Hyde sent to bring down Gene Genie and has lost his memory about that but made up the future stuff in his head. That's why the pompous git last night said they would get him home. If he was in a Coma he is already 'home' in his own time in RL. Probably a very far fetched idea but I so want him to stay with Annie in 1973 coz i am a softie. I love the series, I recognise so many places in the programme, and I actually live a couple of miles away from Hyde lol.

JackieNo · 04/04/2007 08:39

Moomin bit too heavy on the surrounding detail for me . But sounds very realistic.

And I agree completely with Madamez entirely - it's enormous fun as a fantasy, but you just know in rl it wouldn't be as much fun, if any at all. But you said it much better.

JackieNo · 04/04/2007 08:40

(completely, and entirely - need to edit one of those out, really)

MuminBrum · 04/04/2007 08:53

That "ooh yeah" was a classic Gene Hunt moment, wasn't it? [frisson emoticon]

TheAngelWearsPrada · 04/04/2007 08:56

MuminBrum · 04/04/2007 08:59

JackieNo · 04/04/2007 09:25

TheAngelWearsPrada - this one ?

TheAngelWearsPrada · 04/04/2007 12:04

ooh jackie thats great thank you

LucyJu · 04/04/2007 14:53

DCI from Hyde was Frank Morgan - also the name of the actor who played the wizard in "Wizard of Oz" who helps Dorothy get home. Gene Hunt's nickname for Sam is .... Dorothy.

Not sure exactly where that leaves us in terms of how it all ends.

Other thoughts... Hyde could be some allusion to Jekyll and Hyde - i.e. the dark side of Tyler's personality.

Also read an interview somewhere where it said there are clues in the Bowie lyrics.

margo1974 · 04/04/2007 15:03

I'm turning the tables here...

did anyone else think that Gene had a beer belly implant? Surely it was too pert for a real one?

motherinferior · 04/04/2007 15:10

Am personally still boggled by Moomin's girdle.

rabbitrabbit · 04/04/2007 15:14

Had to pop in and tell you all that I saw Philip Glenister in Richmond Park playground a little while ago; with his two little girls (am assuming they were his.)
Much taller than I'd imagined but very craggily sexy if that's any help to anyone

suejonez · 04/04/2007 15:15

where is Richmond park Playground? I haven;t noticed one?
