I think Sam will wake up in the ITU and eventually go to find Cartwright, Hunt and the others, as they are now.

There'll be a lovely scene with Cartwright experiencing Deja Vu when she meets him.

Gene Hunt is just a fantastic character. A proper old fashioned 70s copper.

The programme is brilliant because it doesn't overdo the heavy handed moral message about the miscarriages of justice in the 70s - it manages to be funny and sympathetic and realistic all at once.

My favourite line tonight was actually from next week's episode
Sam "this murder was a hate crime"
Gene "What, as opposed to all those lovey ones"

I think camberwick green is an oldd kiddies programme. The scenes at the begining where the plasticine Gene Hunt was beating up Sam Tyler were meant to be a piss take I think.

According to the Life on mars wikipedia entry - they've filmed two different endings. Sadly, doesn't say what either of them are though!

I thought too Bubble. That he wakes up a la Dorothy, and they are all there, in 2006 garb, but make clever refs. to 1973.

I think they were real people - so they will still be alive but much older - and of course older than him.

I think he will recover and then meet them all - older - in their new roles, which will somehow reflect some of the ways he has rubbed off on them.

for example, I just bet there will be a new "Chief of Police"/Big Cheese who turns up in 2007 who is one of the 1973 lot - either Gene who has become all pc or the underling one or something.

I also think there is a possibility someone like a girlfriend in 2007 will introduce him to her mother - who will be Annie, leaving he question of whether his "girl friend" could be his daughter.

I think there will be one comedy moment - someone like Phyllis the desk sergeant will be PM or something topical and in the public eye.

or Eammon Do-Dah comes in with his big red book and says, "Sam Tyler - you thought you were in a coma, but, tonight...This Is Your Life!"
