I think Sam will wake up in the ITU and eventually go to find Cartwright, Hunt and the others, as they are now.

There'll be a lovely scene with Cartwright experiencing Deja Vu when she meets him.

I need to get out more, don't I?

I love it, this series is getting better and better and the Camberwick Green quote was a classic, dh had to rewind it and watch that bit again (saddos who watched CG first time round )

CAM · 22/03/2007 22:18

I keep saying this but can you blame me - it is written by an old boyfriend of mine from the late 1970's - he always did have the best sense of humour

rolloneaster · 22/03/2007 23:23

ooh cam how cool are you

Hathor · 27/03/2007 22:20

OK, now Sam has met the mother of his 2007 girlfriend (the one who he was searching for at the start) and encouraged her not to have an abortion, so where is it going next?

turquoise · 27/03/2007 22:36

God I love this programme. Gene was the best ever tonight (loved "fake as a trannie's fanny" and the egg dripping onto the corpse), and John Sim is just such a fantastic actor.
I'm going to be so gutted when it ends, and they'd better not kill him.

SueBaroo · 27/03/2007 23:01

John Simm really does that soulful stare thing very well. Pecking Annie on the cheek, ahhh. Kiss the girl properly, you saft lad.

edam · 27/03/2007 23:25

Gene has some fantastic lines. Loved the Camberwick Green thing; the Sam figure being sad and the narrator asking 'is he kicking in a nonce'! But my favourite Gene-ism has to be the hate crime line mentioned by Satine.

Molesworth · 27/03/2007 23:27

Gene came out with some classics tonight didn't he?

"scared as a small nun at a penguin shoot"

Chattea · 28/03/2007 00:29

Mrs John Simm - are you also Mrs Philip Glenister? I LOVE this series. I was around in '73 and it's really good to be reminded of how much was fairly rubbish back then - you tend to look back fondly. I ADORE John Simm.
DH fell about when I told him there was a MrsPhilipGlenister on here. He now thinks that for all our talk about equality we really want a total mysogynist hard bastard....

Fubsychicksnbunnies · 28/03/2007 21:05

That wasnt Philip Glenister on cbeebies it was his brother Robert

Fubsychicksnbunnies · 28/03/2007 21:06

But Gene and Sam have done the bedtime story before!

JackieNo · 03/04/2007 11:18

So, episode 7 of 8 tonight, apparently with Gene Hunt on the run dressed up as Tufty the road safety squirrel. Looking forward to that.

MrsDoolittle · 03/04/2007 11:23

My Dh thinks it's hilarious that we have a MrsPhillipGlenister on here too. Said a similar thing to yours Chattea.

I adore John Simm, hes recently become a father. However, I didn't find him so attractive as Van Gogh recently, I have to say.

I'm going to be sooo gutted when it's over. One of the few things that dh and I really enjoy together, we usually ahve such different tastes.

turquoise · 03/04/2007 11:28

Ds and I are obsessed with LoM, we're going to need counselling when it finishes . He has downloaded the Camberwick Green picture of Sam, Hunt and Nonce for our screen saver here

MrsDoolittle · 03/04/2007 11:34

see if this works

MrsDoolittle · 03/04/2007 11:35

And how do you know that wasn't Phillip Glenister on cbeebies?
Looked very much like him!

JackieNo · 03/04/2007 11:36

They've definitely had both Robert and Philip Glenister doing the stories on Cbeebies. Could have been either.

I think it must all be in his mind, otherwise why would he meet a member of his family or old colleague every single week?

Moomin · 03/04/2007 16:16

It's all going to be tied to that stand-in boss that comes into it tonight while Hunt is up on the murder charge. In the trailer he says "Don't worry Sam we'll get you home". Dh and I have soooo enjoyed this programme. Am sad it's ending soon but glad they're sticking at 2 series though, so the quality stays really high. I did hear that Gene Hunt might be getting a spin-off series of his own though.....

Sunyshineymummy · 03/04/2007 16:25

Phillip Glenister bases his character on Brian Clough he said on Soccer AM recently, which is so obvious when you think about it. I believe they're making an American version, which might be quite good if it's all Starsky and Hutch and they don't ruin it with impossibly good looking people.

Anchovy · 03/04/2007 16:29

My favourite saying was Gene in the very first episode when he said "What's wrong with you? You've gone as white as a ginger bird's arse"

We laughed and laughed.

It set the tone, I felt, in so many ways!

LazyLine · 03/04/2007 16:34

I spent ages thinking of all the different ways in which it could end, the normal coma ones, the backwards ones, you name it.

I have realised though that it is unlikely to be a very complicated explanation as they have spent less and less time on the present day stuff as the series has gome on. Sam has spent less time being concerned with his "coma" and to throw in some ridiculous conclusion would be out of place.

MrsMcEasterBunny · 03/04/2007 17:02

Bubble ? I like the sound of that ending!

Sobernow ? good point about the kidnapped girlfriend ? though she seems to be free as wasn?t she meant to be at his bedside last week asking him to set her heart free? Guess we can?t be sure.

Anchovy ? I like your idea that he has rubbed off on them and therefore made them different Interesting idea re another girlfriend and the Annie link ? i.e. his current girl is not the one for him?

That?s interesting CAM
