If i had the money to buy the rights to the brand i'd bring back Rainbow, the time is right for a revival series.

OutToGetYou · 16/05/2017 08:45

You think they'd actually think it was worth anything Just? I say make them an offer. 50p and a year's supply of Caramac should do it!

The80sweregreat · 16/05/2017 08:53

The new producer received a back lash from Archers fans when he took over on that soap - then he did the wife beating story and had some praise ( only what i have read i dont listen to it myself) , then they moved him over to EE.
Treadwell collins may not have been perfect, but he wouldnt have had all these social issues! I , personally, watch this soap to get try and get away from reality for half an hour, but now its made me even more depressed ( although all the things that he is high lighting do go on of course)

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 16/05/2017 08:56

You'd have to put up with everyone constantly mentioning how much they love Peggy and miss her every episode though.

The80sweregreat · 16/05/2017 09:03

ha ha, true! It must be hard taking over a soap such as this i suppose, he just has a different 'vision' for it than the other ones has.
Maybe mix up the social problems with more normal stories and dont make such a deal of them maybe? the viewers are not stupid. If he had made Denise redundant then showed her having to wait weeks and weeks ( as Akire pointed out) panned out , maybe losing her initial claim or something so she then had to be referred to the food bank we may have had a bit more sympathy for her plight? its been done a bit cack handed.

One thing that is surprising is that Jane has not made a miraculous recovery. They've shown small gains over time and, last night, the sheer effort she's putting into her recovery.

southeastdweller · 16/05/2017 09:20

Interesting article in the Sun, especially reading that the current producer's bosses told him to scrap four episodes earlier this year and do them all over again!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 16/05/2017 09:21

They will drag it out until Christmas when Jane will miraculously get up and walk through a snow filled square. Then get hit by a tractor or something.

A tractor that Amy will lift off her with only the help of GBP and Matthew.

Another thing I noticed yesterday - The Ian is a fatty storyline, all well and good apart from the actor that plays Ian has load a shed load of weight and it's very obvious now (as is his dyed hair)

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 16/05/2017 09:37

She'll be fine, up and about and eating a pie next episode.

SoupDragon · 16/05/2017 09:38

Yes! When he reached up for something in the kitchen, you could tell he wasn't fat. I think he's been wearing padding for a while actually.

I saw the actor on the one show just before the marathon and he looked completely different to pasty fat Ian.

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 16/05/2017 09:39

It's no wonder the show has been so disjointed is it.

I think he's used to radio production, where you have to constantly refrence what's going on which is why we are getting things over explained.

HateSummer · 16/05/2017 10:22

Wow I'm not at all suprised he was told to scrap 4 episodes! He's got no idea what he's doing.

The shop assistant interviews were so unrealistic. A part time job as a shop assistant in a department store is not going to get you your own place in London 😳.

Yesterday's episode was just shit. on the plus side, I now know that you apply for universal credit online.

IndigoWendigo · 16/05/2017 10:46

Can't wait for the proper psycho Steven to come back out. It better be dark! Trailer looks semi-promising.

iknowimcoming · 16/05/2017 11:13

I was agog at the three new sets last night - the hotel, the job centre and the SHOP! After last week's tube train ride for Whitless and wooden (previously seen on Shirl/sylv/Tina day out) it's all been too much excitement! Hmm

ArtfulPuss · 16/05/2017 11:26

Don't forget the new inside-the-fridge prop - they've used that twice in the past week (Abi and Ian).

The only thing I have to say (other than that this thread is the only thing keeping me watching at the moment) is that I have been coveting that picture of silver birch trees in Jack's hallway for over a year. It's wasted on the wall behind the front door! If any EE props person is reading this, please can I have it? Will donate a fortnight's food shop to D in exchange...

Oh, and also my fitbit is not as easily fooled as Ian's.

SoupDragon · 16/05/2017 11:31

Denise has used the fridge set too, only hers was empty.

ArtfulPuss · 16/05/2017 11:53

I'm quite enjoying the Max slow-burn revenge storyline.
Wonder what he's got in store for Ian and Jane... He was very friendly to them the other day, so he's obviously plotting something (spoken in my head in the voice of Simon Callow reading The Twits audio CD).

iknowimcoming · 16/05/2017 12:09

Have to admit to having actually warmed a bit to Nuchelle lately - although I'm baffled as to why a shiny department store like that would be putting a job ad on a card in the window at the minute mart Confused

OutToGetYou · 16/05/2017 12:12

Artful I love that picture too!

Hmm, the Steven story makes sense now we know it's the same producer who did the Rob Titchener story on The Archers.......seems v likely to follow the same theme, also Lauren has baby that is not Steven's, same as Helen in TA. Things move more quickly on EE than TA though so not sure this producer will quite get the pace right (and we had that storyline anyway, years ago, with Little Mo).

HateSummer · 16/05/2017 12:24

Yes I'm noticing all these off set shoots too! They seem to be blowing their budget on them because there's nothing else interesting to spend money on.

I was hoping for Steven to go psycho for a long time. He's got so much potential to be a good baddie. I hope he really goes crazy!

IndigoWendigo · 16/05/2017 13:45

Steven's already raising a kid that isn't his, so if Lauren's pregnancy turns out to be by Josh... Honestly Lauren, if you don't want Steven, I'll have him!

Do you think Josh is part of Max's long-term plan? Lauren did betray him after all... I doubt she'll be forgiven.

Akire · 16/05/2017 13:55

Yes to be fair no magic miracle or Jane but neither has she had really any story lines either!

Hope Jack been arrested dosnt nean return of grandma Glenda! She gets on my nervous.

Do wonder why Lauren with Stephen hardly even seems to like being in same room as him and she has her dad she could live with and Grandma Dot has spare room she's not without options especially with the great big new job!
