Geoffrey Bayldon played Organon in The Creature from the Pit in 1979.

He has actually also played the Doctor in a couple of the Big Finish audio adventures.

Funnyfarmer · 14/05/2017 22:48

I wonder why he can't use his regeneration energy to fix his sight?

OP posts:
iklboo · 15/05/2017 12:11

Maybe he's too close to a full regeneration? Or trying to fix his eyes is what triggers it?

Funnyfarmer · 15/05/2017 12:17

I was thinking maybe it's the start of a slow process

Did anyone else see the trailer for next week?

Fl0ellafunbags · 15/05/2017 12:36

I wonder why he can't use his regeneration energy to fix his sight?

I'm guessing it's like that "Why would you go into the basement of a haunted house in your vest and pants when the lights have tripped and you're a fifteen year old babysitter?" thing.

QuiQuaiQuod · 15/05/2017 16:18

Thanks Rusty re;Geoffrey bayldn. Im slowly collecting DW DVDS as and when I can, so Ill try that one next.

Im still trying to see them in order though so in the middle of the amazingly brilliant Jon Pertwee. Tardis. the 'classics', that is, cant miss the current run!

sigh- REALLY wish the missing 1st and 2nd doc stories will be found soon! don't understand why there are audios but no visuals (as they animated the 1st Pat Troughton story).

Stormtreader · 15/05/2017 16:34

I think its the Master in the vault as well, they've made way too big a deal of it for it not to be a recognised huge character.

Im also hopeful that they eventually stop having Bill have to hit on or rebuff someone to remind us that shes gay, or make a reference to her being black, its beginning to make it feel a bit gimmicky and devaluing to her as a character that they must be referenced every time.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 15/05/2017 17:04

So nobody saw the trailer for next week then?

Addley · 15/05/2017 17:46

I deliberately avoid the trailers because I don't want to know what's on next week. It pisses me off that they feel the need to tell us all the time what's going to happen. Continuity announcers, Twitter, trailers, everything. Every so often someone retweets something like "Find out what Peter Capaldi thinks about the invasion of the Cybermen and the death of everyone the Doctor has ever known in the next episode!" and I'm like, really? It pisses me off even more when someone retweets a spoiler saying "thanks, you've spoiled it now Angry" SO WHY RETWEET IT AND FUCK OVER THE REST OF US TOO FFS

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 15/05/2017 17:52

No problem, I'll keep quiet.

SoupDragon · 15/05/2017 17:53

You realise that typing "spoilers, sweety!" immediately before something doesn't render it invisible?

Both DD and I leap into life at the end of an episode squealing"turn it off! Turn it off!" Whilst searching for the tv remote so we don't see the "Next Week..." part :)

specialsubject · 15/05/2017 17:53

Me too - the channel is changed or the recording stopped before the trailer. I have already had some surprises ruined by stupid coverage. So who news blackout until series end, I fear.

Still hoping that bill will die - same as when I first watched Jurassic park and those nauseatin kids kept escaping. Or hopefully pearl Mackie got taught to articulate at some point. No, it is not my telly or my hearing. Billie piper did sarf lahndan and was comprehensible. 'Wossafludlink' indeed.

RustyBear · 15/05/2017 18:05

QuiQuaiQuod - (love the name, btw - a Daemons reference?) We started our complete rewatch just over 3 years ago, and are now almost done with the Classics -just four or five Sylvester McCoy stories to go. A lot of the missing episodes are on YouTube as audio with still pictures - look for the Loose Cannon channel, or El Doctorio.
Sometimes you find they've been blocked by the BBC, usually because they've included one of the few existing film clips from the programme.

I think the animation process is pretty expensive, but if The Power of the Daleks is successful, hopefully there will be more in time.

Of course there are a few more cheaply produced animations out there...

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 15/05/2017 18:41

I think this is an attempt to bring K9 in as a guide dog!

Fl0ellafunbags · 15/05/2017 19:10

I think this is an attempt to bring K9 in as a guide dog!

I love you.

^^ exactly.

sorry Soup, I hate spoilers as much as you, don't know why I did one!

rusty wow, a mind transference! Wink I was thinking you sound like a WHovian of all WHO, and was going to ask if you 'got' my user name! YES! its the gorgeous JP in the DAEMONS, one of my fave JP stories.

And how cool would it be if K9 was brought back? in the words of the 9th Doctor, FANTASTIC! Tardis

Addley · 16/05/2017 13:48

SHE'S A LESBIAN YOU KNOW

LOOK AT HER, LESBIANING AWAY, LESBIANLY

QuiQuaiQuod · 16/05/2017 14:12

Addley Grin. yes, its like that isn't it?

Just as Russel T Davis always had to get a dig in at Christian beliefs, and ''hey, Im gay so Im going to to gay things up here too''. Nothing worng with gay people BTW, just don't have to make it so obvious ALL. THE. TIME.

and btw Jack HArkess was multisexual, so Bill isn't the 1st gay compainion.

the most camp thing in the classics wa sMArtin Clunes in Snakedance. therew as just no need to reference everything.

Jean Alexander (hilda Ogden) (whobtw is the splitting image of Frank Skinner!), was interviewd a few years after leaving Corrie and was asked if she still wtachd it, she said no cos the prodicers had 'sold their sous', trying to compete and vbie with the other soaps, so now all the soaps HAVE to have all the clichés, and that's where DWhas been heading.

Political correctness? Inclusion? DW if you see the classics has ALWAYS included black/ethnic/strong women characters etc. why sell it soul{s) for ratings or competeing with other sci fi shows?

I want to enjoy DW for being different as it always was, and unique, not an identikit copy of everything else.

that's why DW was a standout show.

and breathe............Tardis

QuiQuaiQuod · 16/05/2017 14:13

sold their souls, not sold there sous! damn keyboard and my fat fingers!

RustyBear · 16/05/2017 14:40

OMG, Hilda Ogden/Frank Skinner!
Never realised it, but you're absolutely right!
