I'm preparing to feel quite depressed by it all,

OP posts:
imkeepingthisnamenow · 05/04/2017 21:57

Feel sorry for the social worker I'd hang up on her!!

SuperFlyHigh · 05/04/2017 21:57

I thought blondie had 4 kids and there was a problem originally that she could only take 3 in her new house?! Confused

Jazzywazzydodah · 05/04/2017 21:57

What's going he story Queen?

EngTech · 05/04/2017 21:58

If the taxes were raised to cover the short fall in the housing benefits et al., what would the general public say?

Would they be happy to,pay more taxes ?

Jazzywazzydodah · 05/04/2017 21:58

What's the story with her? *

SuperFlyHigh · 05/04/2017 21:58

Was there an update re Liverpool feckless man?!

Teddy1970 · 05/04/2017 21:58

I agree that childcare and working hours for working parents needs to be looked at because it's a real stumbling block for some people wanting to return to the workplace, I have a good friend who's a single mum and she's desperate to go back to work, but finding a term time job with no weekend work, 9-3 are like hens teeth, I just wish the government would encourage big companies to do these hours as it would help...but I know it's not that simple of course.

BubbleBed · 05/04/2017 21:58

No, she has 7 kids, three of which were in foster care. Four were with her, but she was advised she'd be better off financially not having all four living with her?!

Jazzywazzydodah · 05/04/2017 21:59

Feel sorry for the social worker I'd hang up on her!!

Think I'd lose my shit if I was in her position

SuperFlyHigh · 05/04/2017 21:59

Eng I personally wouldn't be happy to pay more taxes. I pay enough as it thanks very much.

HelenaDove · 05/04/2017 21:59

Lagirafe i wish these programmes would focus more on women who have been through what you have.

There is still a lot of ignorance out there.

Jazzywazzydodah · 05/04/2017 22:00

Also employers need to be looked at. Shit contracts and hours

BubbleBed · 05/04/2017 22:00

Term time only jobs are so hard to come by. Schools have hundreds of applicants for TA jobs from mums wanting to get back into work. It's so difficult. But the alternative is £1000 childcare bills for August

imkeepingthisnamenow · 05/04/2017 22:00

@Jazzywazzydodah Social Worker may have been dealing with a real emergency not someone who put herself in that position!

SuperFlyHigh · 05/04/2017 22:00

Teddy one single mum I know has term time and a Saturday job in a bank (had latter job years). Her ex DH and his mum mind the kids on Saturdays.

Jazzywazzydodah · 05/04/2017 22:01

Eng how about the all the big companies - google, Starbucks actually pay their taxs or the rich mp stops claiming do much money for posh wine or second homes ...

Lagirafe · 05/04/2017 22:02

I think the reason she was advised to only have 3 children living with her was to pass the housing affordability checks. 3 children and she was just under the cap. 4 children and she wld be capped and money taken from her HB. The housing association can only give you a property if you can "afford" to pay the rent.

SuperFlyHigh · 05/04/2017 22:02

Bubble in my friend's experience she got a job as a lunchtime supervisor and works in same school after school club so personally for my friend the job wasn't that hard to come by. Other parents in the school are TAs (men and women).

Jazzywazzydodah · 05/04/2017 22:02

imkeeping - so how did she out herself in that position?

GplanAddict · 05/04/2017 22:02

Jeez....I feel totally annoyed.

Annoyed with the people they picked for the programme. Annoyed it wasn't more balanced. Annoyed with the people themselves and their choices.

Blonde woman can afford an iphone as she gets £380 per week and isn't paying her rent.

Jazzywazzydodah · 05/04/2017 22:02

Put**

SuperFlyHigh · 05/04/2017 22:03

Sorry but the 7 kids woman really does give me the rage and the others with over 2 kids...

Teddy1970 · 05/04/2017 22:03

Exactly Bubble

Tarrarra · 05/04/2017 22:03

Maria cant pay the shortfall in rent but managed to buy fags and sky tv. It's not helping really, this programme. Most of these people need financial education - basic budgeting etc. There's a real thought that they shouldn't have to work, and have a right to luxuries. They haven't chosen the right people to showcase...

HelenaDove · 05/04/2017 22:04

Numbers crunched by housing consultant and blogger Joe Halewood.

More is paid out when IN work.
