Hamiltoes disabled people absolutely are affected. In fact more people on ESA are affected by the cap than those on JSA.

I have both worked for an exstensive period in education and also spent a number of years forced to claim disability benefits due to a psychotic breakdown with a brilliant combination of Kidney failure.
People may feel I am deserving of state assistance but that is irrelevant. There are not deserving or undeserving poor, just families where children going without food or necessities.
The monumental task of accessing any sickness or disability support whilst suffering from the conditions that have led you to claim is beyond belief.

The idea of people outside the benefit system that there are huge swathes of people claiming falsely is completely unfounded. The levels of proof your require are very substantial, you don't just turn up at a benefits office with a single doctors note and wait for the money to start rolling in.
That combined with the extremely low payment amounts (whenever huge sums are banded about, they always include housing benefits which if you imagine renting privately in any major city, will add up to large sums very easily). Payments so low that led me to using food banks to feed my family, And then add the instability of living on benefits that are constantly reassessed and over the past 5/6 years changed and reduced. Living with the knowledge that one wrongly ticked box could stop your entire income for periods of weeks or even months.
The clever demonisation of families in disperate situations has unfortunately been used by the right wing press and the ruling Conservative party over the last 30 years as a tool to turn the poor and middle classes in on each other, diverting them away from the true causes of inequalities within our society which is the actions of the rich to benefit the rich. The biggest con of this century is this turning us against each other.
That the BBC has lowered itself to this level is beyond belief when for the last half century it has been a beacon of independent thoughtful journalism throughout the western world.
This is a truly sad day for the BBC, and our nations capacity for free thought and compassion.
They should be truly ashamed.
