I'm preparing to feel quite depressed by it all,

OP posts:
Iamtheresurrection · 05/04/2017 21:24

The Liverpudlian guy is making me angry.

I feel sorry for the woman with her grandkids, social services prefer this option as its cheaper than foster care but now she's struggling to make ends meet - how's that right?

sleepwhenidie · 05/04/2017 21:24

Oh thank god for Bruce..looks like someone we might be able to sympathise with.

HalfShellHero · 05/04/2017 21:25

Yep typical poverty porn examples I bet it's just gonna be completely one sided.

Ah I see they are going for the single dads are heroes and single mums have loads of kids and are sluts narrative.

JaneEyre70 · 05/04/2017 21:25

Society has created a monster here hasn't it? Parents refusing to work but happy to trot kid after kid out.........as it is their "right".

seasidesally · 05/04/2017 21:25

how is grandmother struggling?

BubbleBed · 05/04/2017 21:27

How can the grandmother not have £169 for the rent? That guardianship allowance is for things like the rent. It's to provide for the children!

GplanAddict · 05/04/2017 21:27

I hope those boys have ££££ in savings for their futures

CactusFred · 05/04/2017 21:28

A carer of an adult can refuse to provide care. A carer of a child cannot. For more obvious reasons.

Carer of an adult can down tools and refuse and cannot be done for neglect - assuming they advise social services or whoever. And don't leave someone in need of essential care to rot.

HalfShellHero · 05/04/2017 21:28

I can imagine that happens less than people think Jane Eyre , with the financial/social stigma....

Fred im not saying anyone here would do that. Im trying to point out its a crack that has appeared due to these policies.

QueenLaBeefah · 05/04/2017 21:33

I feel dreadful watching this. None of them are at all bringing out any sympathy. Could they not get anyone who wasn't workshy or just dreadful at budgeting to appear on this programme?

HelenaDove · 05/04/2017 21:34

Why isnt Panorama asking why the HA havent fixed the boiler?

CactusFred · 05/04/2017 21:34

Helena you realise I'm not disagreeing with you? I work with carers.

I'm sick to the back teeth of fighting with social services who do nothing but try not to find anything for carers.

I'm just hoping someone challenges under the care act sooner rather than later.

Saucery · 05/04/2017 21:34

Ah, the obligatory Fag Shot. Disappointed Panorama have gone for this angle.

BubbleBed · 05/04/2017 21:35

Queen, I've often said if i didn't have a job which would be affected by me going on a programme like this, i would do it. Just to show the other side to a benefit claiming, single parent, in council housing.

I just wave my little flag as much as i can.

DayToDayGlobalShit · 05/04/2017 21:35

Why is he grandmother raising the 4 kids, I think I missed that.

HelenaDove · 05/04/2017 21:35

YY Fred. No worries.

BubbleBed · 05/04/2017 21:35

Why isn't panorama advising the grandmother more?

JaneEyre70 · 05/04/2017 21:36

I don't see any stigma from these families though..........all I see is a huge sense of entitlement.

awishes · 05/04/2017 21:36

Prepared to be flamed here but some of these people are getting benefits far more than any amount I have ever earnt.
I had to work for years to enable me to afford to start a family - is that not normal?
Sury the system needs an overhaul.

CactusFred · 05/04/2017 21:36

Queen, I think that's what we all feel.

They always pick examples that engender no sympathy!

And I'm a terrible parent who pushes her child into nursery so I can work! That woman can freeze in her cold house as far as I'm concerned! Sad

BubbleBed · 05/04/2017 21:36

I bloody HATE the "i don't have kids for someone else to bring up" argument.

I have brought my kids up. And worked.

HelenaDove · 05/04/2017 21:36

A week later HA still havent fixed the boiler. Funny how programme is glossing over this.

DayToDayGlobalShit · 05/04/2017 21:38

Carrying a very big bag down to the housing place, for someone with a back this is too bad to work. I do not like this woman. At all.
