Whichever PP predicted that Ian wouldn't have insurance on the chippy - well done! Star

southeastdweller · 30/03/2017 20:20

Sylvie always felt like a superfluous character to me so I'm not sorry she's dead.

nancy75 · 30/03/2017 20:37

I wonder if chelle has travel insurance? As she hasn't lived here for 20 years I don't think she is entitled to NHS funded care?

nancy75 · 30/03/2017 20:38

Is she insured to drive the car? That insurance would pay for the damage to the chippy

BlueThursday · 30/03/2017 21:00

Dr Shazia seemed to know her medical history from the pc so it's as if she's never left the UK

And yes, has everyone forgotten Vicki?

tobee · 30/03/2017 21:36

That was so bad! Only Eastenders under the new Exec Producer could manage to make the aftermath of a bus crash and a car crashing into the chippy so boring and lacking in tension. Everyone's fine, yawn! (except NuChelle who we don't care about), everyone's apparently made of rubber. Whitney seemed to be suffering the most. Kathy didn't even seem to need medical attention. Kush, suffering from a dislocated shoulder, didn't seem to need to be drugged up to cope with agony while the nurse strapped his arm. Carmel couldn't even be bothered to turn up to pull the curtain and witness the kiss. Sylvie electrocuted in the bath, really boringly sign posted, no tension, massive cliche. Didn't they do that with someone with a hairdryer in Corrie in about 1498? Ian had no insurance on the chippy. Of course! The Eastenders standard. Yawn! Yawn! Yawn! Says something that I'd find it exciting if Ian had said "good job I reinsured the chippy last month. I'm up to date with my premiums. I phoned the insurance hq and the cheque's in the post" Now that would be a plot twist.

BlueThursday · 30/03/2017 21:51

Wouldn't Jane have noticed no insurance and given him what for for doing it, especially after that "robbery" Steven staged?

HSMMaCM · 30/03/2017 21:51

At least Silvie died happy

BlueThursday · 30/03/2017 21:52

How are they going to pay for the funeral?

SuperFlyHigh · 30/03/2017 22:01

I thought Sylvie being electrocuted was an easy way out and a totally unnecessary ending though at least we didn't see her actual death. I thought Sylvie's portrayal of her dementia/Alzheimer's was very touching and well acted.

And Nuchelle lives, whoopie dooh not! Grin

Oreocrumbs · 30/03/2017 22:04

These not having insurance policies stories are getting on my wick! They are commercial buildings trading and allowing members of the public in and providing food and drink.

That's not just a case of not paying out for damages. You can't get away without suitable public liability insurance. And that fecker ain't cheap let me tell you.

I also don't get why they have chosen to inflict so many storylines on the carters when one of the main family members was going on mat leave, and the other has now disappeared.

I appreciate that the didn't necessarily know dyer would end up taking time off, but still. There's plenty of drama could be centred around the pub to keep all the family members busy without them being the focal point for a few months.

I'm ranting again.

AND..... surely all that hot fat, plus sparks and a big car full of petrol would result is some kind of fire/explosion. I feel short changed. They should have deep fried Nuchelle and had done with it.

Akire · 30/03/2017 22:17

Aw poor silva think took easy way out there. Least Shirley will get out for funeral. Tina will move back into Vic since just her and get babes old room. Hopeful Whitney will feel so guilty that's it's all he fault she asked Tina to stay downstairs for a drink she will go away to yonder horizons Milton Keynes

If Ian has no insurence how come
He was back in the pub in about 20min not trying to secure his property or stop peole nicking stock?? Maybe was just buildings he got rid off. Must had public liability in case someone slips
On a squashed chip! Ian has 4 business I know he has care fees but surely he's not doing that badly with stall, chippy, restaurant and was it something else?

Yes was expecting Carmel to whip back curtain catch them at it. It's unbelievable she wouldn't be at the hospital she such a fuss pot. Will Denise now work On Kush stall till his arm is better?

Hopefully Nuchelle Has had some sense knocked into her. Go away Preston nobody cares!

BlueThursday · 30/03/2017 22:26

Great chemistry though between Denise and Kush they work well as a couple

nancy75 · 30/03/2017 23:06

Also amazed that so few people heard the crash & came out to help. Many moons ago I lived in a flat above a high street, a drunk driver drove in to the hairdressers over the road ( luckily it was closed) the noise was like a massive bomb going off- the whole street was out having a look!

EnidButton · 31/03/2017 00:51

Their chemistry is so good. Best I've ever seen on a soap. Don't know if it's just because they're both gorgeous but whoever put them together were really into something. They click perfectly.

EnidButton · 31/03/2017 00:51

^that was Kush and Denise.

(Obviously not Nuchelle and Preston.)

EnidButton · 31/03/2017 00:55

Didn't they do that with someone with a hairdryer in Corrie in about 1498?

Ken Barlow's Mum I think. I've watched it on YT. They have loads of the first episodes of Corrie on there.

EnidButton · 31/03/2017 00:59

Have googled- it was Valerie Barlow, Ken's first with and Peter and Susan's mother who was electrocuted by a dodgy hairdryer. Ken's Mum was hit by a bus. His brother and beoh w died in a car crash and his second wife Janet died too. He didn't have much much did he.

Apologies for the Corrie invasion...

EnidButton · 31/03/2017 01:00

*wife not with. 🙄

EnidButton · 31/03/2017 01:01

Ffs. Beoh= nephew. Much much = much luck.

Sorry.

Iwantacampervan · 31/03/2017 07:25

Valerie Barlow was played by Anne Reid.
Back to Eastenders' questions -
why was there no concern over the hot fat in the chippie/why didn't it explode;
why did it take 10 minutes (or so) for anyone to ring for an ambulance;
is the sound proofing so odd in the houses that they can't hear a crash but can hear sirens;
why does no one have insurance....etc etc

SoupDragon · 31/03/2017 07:46

stall, chippy, restaurant and was it something else?

KAffy's cafe!

I could watch whenthey we're building up to the electrocution. They did it well I thought.

I don't like the Kush and Denise storyline. They've done secret age difference relationships to death.

SuperFlyHigh · 31/03/2017 08:30

Akire isn't it laughable re chippie having no insurance (no payout then?!) will Kaff (who was penniless) be out of a job?

Why do we never hear any more of Bobby? who makes Denny look like Satan, sorry Damien...!)

Agree Kush and Denise have great chemistry Carmel will go apeshit. And funny how 16/17 year old relationship will be "ok" for them but not Nuchelle and Preston (yes I know he was at school). Wonder if Kush will push for Denise to get baby spud back, I still found that incredibly farfetched (adoption) with Denise's mummy bear persona and how she wanted Libby to keep her baby. I mean cmon seriously job in minute mart (now no job) and college not like she's a high flyer!

Akire · 31/03/2017 08:52

Thanks SoupDragon of course the cafe! If the chippy isn't making enough money pay staff or insurence then he deserves to lose it.
Agree Kush and Denise are fab, least age gap isn't creepy for a 30 & 48 y old, Kush always been mature and gorgeous

The80sweregreat · 31/03/2017 09:10

I think it was Ken barlow's wife Susan who electrocuted herself with a hair dryer - he has had about 15 more wives since though!
aww, Kush and Denise, bless. ( wonder if they are going out in real life?) he was such a brave soldier with that shoulder - carmel not showing up was not good though- i expected her to be there, not just ring up.
Would anyone want to be a Carter, the list of things that have gone wrong over 3 years or whatever is just so far fetched. Now Nancy and Elaine both ill abroad (although Elaine is back now) now this with Sylvie - actually, i do know of someone who had a friend this happened to but with a heater on in the bathroom - this was about 1952 though! How will they pay for that funeral, Stan left them a few bob for his, but i cant imagine Sylvie having any dosh. The insurance is a terrible plot line, a business man like Ian with his many business's not having it place for the chippy is just bad. oh well. have to see what tonight brings - why Max and Mr big want that pub now is anyone's guess ( i think it is cursed). People moving injured about too was terrible too - always told not to move them in case of spinal damage, but oh no, its the old heave oh for chelle and Kush! terrible writing.
