Anyone else planning on watching this three-parter that starts tonight at 9?

I loved this programme but yet disappointed with the ending. I think there should have been a proper full on argument at the top of the stairs. Then Paula admitting she killed Kay with everyone in earshot and then thrown herself downstairs. I think that would have been better

spiney · 15/03/2017 11:04

The80s - generally the parking in the program was shocking. 🤓

LemonadeWithACherry · 15/03/2017 11:07

Noelheadbands' post was the only good thing to come out of this episode. Grin

I am amazed that no-one involved in the production said 'hang on, this isn't making any sense?'. Vicky McClure doesn't need to appear in second-rate stuff, so I wonder if the script was changed drastically after she'd agreed to be in it.

God I hope Line 0f Duty doesn't go the same way.

MrsJayy · 15/03/2017 11:08

I think it was just a recording of crying gawd knows though it made NO sense,

The80sweregreat · 15/03/2017 11:10

yep, i was waiting for the child to fall out of the carry cot thing - (although i did guess she would take her)
Parking rules do not apply in soaps and dramas- you cant go anywhere round here without some kind of restriction in place. If your in a drama you can park where you want.

Whywaitfortomorrow · 15/03/2017 11:22

I'll try and find it but somebody up thread gave a much more plausible and satisfying storyline something like: Paula lost her child, tried to kidnap Georgia's whilst working with her, she had a breakdown - something Paula alluded to in first episode about "not having something like that on your CV" -which is what Kay found out and was going to warn Ellen about before she fell through the skylight. That would explain why Georgia wanted nothing to do with Ellen.

This was a tense, psychological thriller/drama, absolutely no need for the theatrics with the car - some people still want to think whilst watching TV.
Grrrr -still feeling robbed !!!

spiney · 15/03/2017 11:26

Sorry so why did Paula push Kay through the skylight? ......

Elendon · 15/03/2017 11:27

And is Vernon the library master or summat? I get that he was the client who commissioned it, but surely he's not still hanging around there two years later?

Is what Noel said that made me chuckle.

The80sweregreat · 15/03/2017 11:29

spiney, i am at a loss as to why she wanted Kay out of the picture, Paula wasnt having an affair with David, kay didnt have any children and she was on her side about most things - it didnt make any sense ( unless she wanted people to think that Ellen did it?)
I am confused by it all to be honest!

Gwenhwyfar · 15/03/2017 11:30

"Sorry so why did Paula push Kay through the skylight? ....."

Paula said it was because Kay wouldn't stop going on about 'it', 'it' being Paula's living as if her daughter were still alive.

cowgirlsareforever · 15/03/2017 11:32

But how did Paula get Kay up on the roof? Kay was not on the roof when she phoned Ellen, and she was clearly worried about something, so how did she end up on the roof Confused

RockyBird · 15/03/2017 11:32

See, I thought that Kay wasn't pushed, just wasn't made aware of the existence of the sky light as it was a deviation from the original plan.

deaddeadgood · 15/03/2017 11:33

That pub was empty because it's a Wetherspoons Jayy

spiney · 15/03/2017 11:33

So confusing but I was reeled in by lines like this....

" I would have put another window there ( Ellen to Lia) ... so that you don't get nasty double shadows......." 😁

RockyBird · 15/03/2017 11:33

...then paula spoiled my theory by confessing.

Elendon · 15/03/2017 11:34

Plus, was it just me or was that pram a bit too small for a toddler. Perhaps it was for the teddy bear.

RockyBird · 15/03/2017 11:35

What pub was it? The one across from Greggs?

MrsJayy · 15/03/2017 11:37

I was in a weatherspoons in glasgow last week at 4.30 it was mobbed

MrsJayy · 15/03/2017 11:38

Yeah I think it was the counting house

deaddeadgood · 15/03/2017 11:42

It was the counting house

Merrylegs · 15/03/2017 11:44

Also surely Ellen's earlier googling re finding Caris on social media would have unearthed the car accident. What did she even search to find the accident? Surely the kids name. (Paula hadn't even said it was a hit and run so no clues there)

MrsJayy · 15/03/2017 11:50

Why did Paula let her 8yrold have facebook

MrsJayy · 15/03/2017 11:56

Or did paula make up her facebook

Delatron · 15/03/2017 11:57

Of all the loose ends, the skylight and Kay's death annoys me the most.
It can't have been an argument between Paula and Kay getting out of hand and Paula pushing her as Ellen would have heard the commotion. Kay fell through the skylight about a minute after Ellen entered the building and she called out for Kay and it was all silent.

Would Paula really kill someone for just 'going on' about her dead daughter. Yet spare the women she seems to actually hate (Ellen) and also be chummy with the women who killed her daughter. Utter craziness.

RockyBird · 15/03/2017 12:03

It didn't look anything like the Counting House to me (been there more times than I care to remember)
