Anyone else planning on watching this three-parter that starts tonight at 9?

When Paula and Ellen were in the car together Paula said she was going to go to Lia with the police.

Mummysh0rtlegs · 14/03/2017 22:48

It was like they edited it without reading the script and lost about an hour of plot. The RT article just shows all the reviewers thought it was Shite like us.

Charley50 · 14/03/2017 22:48

Well that was some fucked up morality tale! Anyone else fancy David, or is it just me?

bagelbaby · 14/03/2017 22:51

How does this crap get commissioned? Does no one ever stop and say ' we seem to be going for the well worn women with mental health issues here - shall we try a different angle instead?'

cowgirlsareforever · 14/03/2017 22:52

When she accepted Ian's apology and said Paula put on a good act I was like this Hmm

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 14/03/2017 22:52

What a load of shite that final episode was. Dh and I laughed out loud at the absurdity in places.

I was also disappointed that we had the managed to avoid the "woman has baby and goes mental" trope but still ended up with "woman who has lost a child goes mental".

The only saying grace was that she didn't take back Ian. That said the premise was ludicrous - he went from being utterly supportive and on her side to battling her with lawyers and refusing to allow Ellen access to Leah in less than 20 minutes!

As for the social workers, two of them, looking like catalogue models psycho-analysing a woman whose considered to be unfit for leaving her baby in a locked car for less than ten minutes was just incredible.

ArriettyClock1 · 14/03/2017 22:54

It was SO ridiculous and utterly stupid.

We both laughed out loud at the car hot wiring/air bag scene. I said to dh 'let's not watch it this week' but he wanted to. He needs to listen to me!

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 14/03/2017 22:55

The plotting for the first two episodes was really careful and considered.

The plotting for the final episode was more "shit, we've got 55 minutes to wrap this up and I don't know how!".

Whywaitfortomorrow · 14/03/2017 22:55

What a complete let down. So glad it finished tonight as would have been even more disappointed if that was going to be the ending after more episodes.
Give me The Night Manager or The Escape Artist any day over this.
Just hope Line of Duty delivers...

Emily7708 · 14/03/2017 22:56

This episode was absolutely ridiculous! £48k for a architect's job in that firm isn't bad though, none of them do much work.

Who was the fake Caris in the last episode?

CrazySexyCool123 · 14/03/2017 22:56

Her niece

impkin · 14/03/2017 22:59

So Georgia, who also happens to be an architect, kills Paula's daughter in a hit and run.
Paula then spends the rest of her days pretending her daughter is alive as a coping mechanism but gets a job with her child's killer.
Paula takes Georgia's car - we don't know why - and stores it.
Kay finds this out so Paula kills her. Georgia felt unable to tell anyone this.

Utterly ridiculous.

What happened? Hmm That was just dreadful

NoMoreMissusNiceGuy · 14/03/2017 23:01

The most entertaining thing about it was reading all your comments as I was watching! Grin

I must admit I was shouting at the TV .. "Don't leave the baby on the windowsill you STUPID fucker" ... "oh look, she's very alert for someone who's just been drugged" .... "nooooooo, don't pick up the baby, they'll blame youuuuu"

And did do a little "woo hoo!" and possibly an even smaller fist pump as the car burst out of the garage!!

meatloaf · 14/03/2017 23:02

The Radio Times article refers to the baby as Leah, but in the credits it's Lia. Her name is Lia.

TizzyDongue · 14/03/2017 23:03

Hmmm, well. That was weird, and didn't make any sense.

Janus · 14/03/2017 23:03

Noelheadbands SmileGrin was almost worth watching for that comment!!!!

TizzyDongue · 14/03/2017 23:08

Btw was hot wiring a car, and how to get the battery leads into the passager foot well taught in school or something? Evidently I was off that day - it was like it was a ordinary thing to know.

theclick · 14/03/2017 23:15

Jesus ellen. You're a twat.

TizzyDongue · 14/03/2017 23:16

She could be a twat, but it's a bit unclear why.

bagelbaby · 14/03/2017 23:17

Yes. That whole social worker thing was beyond belief. Obviously a time rich and well funded system north of the border !

wizzywig · 14/03/2017 23:24

Dont get it. Why didnt the police arrest ellen? How did the police know it was paula?

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 14/03/2017 23:26

It's cos there are no poor children or any at risk of serious harm in Glasgow. No a single one.

I'd like to see Alan and Jo from Damned pitch up as the social workers and say "she left a baby in a securely locked and safely parked car for a few minutes? We're not here to hand out parenting awards, we'be got real, serious shit that needs dealing with. Alan's got 5 refugee kids kipping on his sofa and one of my families has just had both mum and dad sent down so we don't have fucking time to waste telling the middle classes not to leave their babies unattended where nosey twats can report them!". And by pitch up, I mean take a phone call and get on with dealing with some real shit.

mumofthemonsters808 · 14/03/2017 23:30

Dire third episode, who writes this far fetched nonsense ?. I think this would of made a great drama without any killing, hysterical women, dead children, i liked the general idea and it could of been great viewing if it was not so ridiculous.I'm annoyed I even wasted time watching this, every time I steer away from Netflicks this happens.
