Anyone else planning on watching this three-parter that starts tonight at 9?

  1. What happened to Paula?
'I hope that she’s got the help she needs.'

Well did you write it? Because otherwise, she did not. Hmm

RainbowDashian · 14/03/2017 22:24

That was shite!

TalkingofMichaelAngel0 · 14/03/2017 22:25

The radio times article did not help.

noitsnotme · 14/03/2017 22:26

How can that writer seriously say that Ian made a good pitch for getting Ellen back? Bloody hell.

Polkadot1974 · 14/03/2017 22:26

I feel let down. There could easily have been 4 episodes and a few more twists

Polkadot1974 · 14/03/2017 22:27

Ian was a knob though

NoelHeadbands · 14/03/2017 22:27

I'm still chuckling at the hot wiring of a car after overdosing on viagra tablets. Then BOOM, the car bursting through the garage doors

I'm surprised she managed to act that with a straight face

BettyBaggins · 14/03/2017 22:29

hotwiring a car after you've overdosed? FFS! SomewhereNow

This!

fussychica · 14/03/2017 22:29

WTF!
I am not watching another BBC thriller type drama serial again, the final episodes are always a total letdown. This was just awful, totally laughable.
Releasing the article to try to explain things is just unbelievable. I have just read it and seems to me he didn't really have much of a clue about what he was trying to achieve.

CrazySexyCool123 · 14/03/2017 22:30

Didn't Georgia used to work with Paula in a busy city centre..... But the hit and run was in a quieter area. So she killed her colleagues daughter nowhere near where they worked?

BakeOffBiscuits · 14/03/2017 22:34

The more I think about this the more angry I am. A male writer, writing about motherhood and a mother's bereavement, clearly he knows very little about eitherAngry

Isitjustmeorisiteveryoneelse · 14/03/2017 22:35

Literally none of that made sense. The only good thing is, unlike that shite series Lost, I only wasted three weeks of my life instead of four years. I thought when she was ripping wires and stuff off the car she was making a rocket launcher a la the A Team. Would have fitted perfectly with the rest of this weird episode. Seriously, if Broadchurch ends up being this crap this time round I'm going to give up watching TV.

SoMuchPain · 14/03/2017 22:35

What an absolute shitting waste of life watching that!!! Jeez - and the article explaining it shows that this series should never have been made as the writer really didn't have a clue either!!!

tinypop4 · 14/03/2017 22:35

The Georgia thing was pointless in terms of the plot. And unbelievable.

The car thing was ridiculous- can you even do that to a modern car?? And then bursting through the doors like that, not even groggy from the partial-overdose. Weird!!

papayasareyum · 14/03/2017 22:36

so Paula killed Kay because she kept going on about Charis? That's it?

noitsnotme · 14/03/2017 22:36

Crazy I think she worked with Georgia after the hit and run

JaneEyre70 · 14/03/2017 22:36

Like others said, they even missed the anticlimax!!!.........DH was sat open mouthed scratching his head even more than he normally does too. I think even the writer lost what was going on tbh. Utter Shite BBC.

saniner · 14/03/2017 22:36

The twists and explanations upthread were far more satisfying. Don't become a mother you'll lose your marbles Hmm

wizzywig · 14/03/2017 22:36

Oh that shut her up

Gwenhwyfar · 14/03/2017 22:37

"So who Leah's dad? confused"

Did you watch it? Ian is Leah's dad. Paula made it up about Ellen and David having an affair.

eddiemairswife · 14/03/2017 22:38

I thought Ellen googled the hit and run and found it was Georgia who was the driver and also the car number. What I don't understand is why Paula had access to that car and used it to drug Ellen.
I also don't understand the point of drugging Ellen. It wasn't a fatal dose, and why did she block the car doors? Was Ellen supposed to starve to death?

NoelHeadbands · 14/03/2017 22:39

There's a woman at my work goes on and on about her kids all the time. She's going through the skylight tomorrow

saniner · 14/03/2017 22:39

Plus I think she would have known to take off the headrest and use the sharp bits to shatter the windscreen. If the car had already been in a rta there's a good chance there wouldn't be an airbag left.

BubbleBed · 14/03/2017 22:41

She was coughing as if there were fumes. But the engine wasn't running. So i got really confused.

CheeseonTwats · 14/03/2017 22:42

I think I'm unreasonably angry with this but never mind...

So Georgia, who also happens to be an architect, kills Paula's daughter in a hit and run.

Paula then spends the rest of her days pretending her daughter is alive as a coping mechanism but gets a job with her child's killer.

Paula takes Georgia's car - we don't know why - and stores it.

Kay finds this out so Paula kills her. Georgia felt unable to tell anyone this.
