Maybe the whole thing has been orchestrated by Ellen's husband to get Paula a baby (as he is or was her husband and she lost her baby and can't have more) and Paula's 'husband' is in on it but getting paid off. You do get the feeling both Ellen and Paula are victims in this narrative in some way. Which is interesting as it goes against the woman vs woman scenario which a lot of folk I know find problematic - women have enough shit to deal with re: work and motherhood without making another women the source of the problem.

Maybe Ellen and Paula will team up and shove Ellen's DH through that bloody skylight.

Yeah but it looked like Paula warned Georgia that Ellen was coming, what was that about?
I would have just thought she got fed up waiting- but Ellen said "did she just warn you off" and why would Georgia's attitude change to "stay away from me, stop harrsssing me"?

Maybe it was meant to look that way? Maybe we are left to assume that but in reality, she was scared.

And car seat straps too loose !!

Meeting was at 4w so she could drive (just) and get dressed etc

DEf something dodgy about caris and Paula

Paula is definitely a baddie and maybe she is looking for a replacement baby

The way she goes for maternity cover only .......

Not finished all posts yet but really enjoying all the speculation! I'm not sure what I believe yet, it's all very very odd, but I'm pretty firmly on Team Ellen especially since Paula was pretending to be Caris on FB. Not that I didn't judge Ellen for messaging her in the first place of course.

I think so far it's been a really good portrayal of how obsession can just take you over no matter what is going on in your life. It made me so sad when she was talking to the baby about all her stalking etc all the time. You only get those early newborn days once, and it was all taken up with this. It was the most emotional part of this episode for me.

So, single white female and stranger from the north - both worth watching I take it?

I think I'm mainly agreeing that Paula's DD either died or was put in care (the latter would especially explain Paula reporting Ellen to SS - I had my child taken away, I'll make you lose yours), there is no way the girl who came into the office was her daughter, I thought niece although stepdaughter is plausible too.

Freaking out a bit that in the clips of next episode Richard Rankin (YUM) had his hand on Paula's back, very chummy... nooooo!

Totally confused about Georgia.

Just caught up on ep2 - really enjoying this!
My theory is that Paula has been the other woman in the past, and met her husband in one of her past architectural jobs. She married him and became a mother to his daughter Charis. Charis' 'sleepovers' are her spending time at her real mothers.
Reckon Paula will try to break up Ellen and that gorgeous Richard Rankin so she she can be a mother to Ellen's baby...
What do you reckon?
