I don't see Panit joining the cast. That would mean they'd actually have some diversity!

AGnu · 01/02/2017 09:33

Helen is the never-seen other employee who is conveniently covering the shop any time it's supposed to be open & Denise & Honey are elsewhere.

Tanya was mentioned several times. I half expected her to walk into the pub while Lauren & Jane were talking about how she'd never really met Louis. I find that hard to believe - didn't Lauren & Abi go there for Christmas?!

MrsJayy · 01/02/2017 09:38

Another weird episode last night, why did Tina encourage sylvie to do that song/dance nonsense.very strange

HateSummer · 01/02/2017 09:48

The sylvie song dance was stupid. I don't like how they're portraying her dementia/Alzheimer's. It's unrealistic and is making a mockery of sufferers and their carers. Having dementia isn't all acting silly and doing things on a whim. It can be very scary too, especially when they have hallucinations and see odd things around the house. They should just stop the storyline now if they can't do it properly.

MrsJayy · 01/02/2017 10:06

I just dont understand Tina she is in her 40s it is so infuriating how she behaves humilating your mother infront of everybody.

Thinkingofausername1 · 01/02/2017 10:06

I thought last nights episode was ridiculous. Oh and why are they suddenly using alot of strobe lighting when they did all the fit storylines with Nancy last year

HoHumming · 01/02/2017 10:14

I'm lost as to why the Sylvie thing was so awful. I was waiting something while watching EE and didn't look up until she fell off the stage assuming something must have happened. I find some of the accents hard to understand at the best of times so the pub scene went over my head completely.

I expect that along with the leaking roof is just to add to Mick's woes. Is Max going to collaborate a big fire/insurance fraud.

Would everyone really fill the Vic because there was a special Italian/Chinese night meal on? It is London, people can eat whatever cuisine they want any day of the week. They didn't even mention Chinese New Year! Half the Square ate chips last night too. The camera zooming in on takeaways was very odd. It is like a group of amateur camera workers and writers have taken over.

The80sweregreat · 01/02/2017 10:35

Panit seems okay, I hope he stays for a while - maybe he could open a take away?
I think the next 'themed night' will be ' black bin night' where they have to dress up in a sack and do renditions of ' my old mans a dustman.
Babe can roll out her 'special ' poys and Rat in my kitchen can be played on the juke box.

Akire · 01/02/2017 11:22

The pub has had stupid themed nights most Monday Tuesdays since Christmas. You know time of year people want to stay home, not drink and save money. It's been stupid! They are doing breakfast and lunches and evening meals they have to be taking some dosh.

The80sweregreat · 01/02/2017 11:29

I have hardly seen Babe out of that kitchen - she is a modern day slave with her pies and breakfast menus and themed nights.
i live fairly close to a pub and have never seen an ad for a themed night, or the ones in town, some have TV and put on the sports channels, thats about it really. It must be an East end thing! ( but i dont think it is, its a Babe thing)

SoupDragon · 01/02/2017 12:24

I think Sylvie dressing up as "Chinese" and singing the song that kind of mocked the Chinese language was the equivalent of "blacking up" and singing like the BlackandWhite minstrels.

MakeItStopNeville · 01/02/2017 12:30

Last nights episode was completely pointless. I don't even know why I bothered watching it.

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 01/02/2017 12:44

There's a documentary about June Brown coming soon "June Brown at 90".

I was watching an old BBC adaptation of Oliver Twist the other day and she was in it, i don't know if this was before or after she began playing Dot but it was an almost identical character.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/02/2017 13:14

I thought she might have done ping pong balls out of her fanjo 😂😂

The80sweregreat · 01/02/2017 13:42

Its horrible how Sylvie is treated, Tina apart, they are nasty to her. ( i think Tina thought it would just be a harmless song she would sing!)
Sausage's coat was funny, - i thought he would start telling jokes or a spot of singing himself!
June brown is doing well for 90 and still working. She is a real character in real life too, so it might be quite interesting to watch that.
i thought she was in her 80s!

MrsJayy · 01/02/2017 15:27

There is going to be a june brown special for her 90th next month i think it is on Bbc1

MrsJayy · 01/02/2017 15:28

Sylvie did a high kick. So I assume she flashed her knickers. Or lack of.

MrsJayy · 01/02/2017 17:27

Yes I think she showed the vic her everything.

TheMockingbird · 01/02/2017 17:27

Grin My old man's a dustman!

Oh gawd, do you think they'll do a bin theme night? I refuse to believe it Grin

I'll leave now...

The80sweregreat · 01/02/2017 18:53

Bin there done that! Boom boom

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 01/02/2017 21:03

Love the bin themed night, 80's

Haven't watched yesterday's episode, you lot have put me off Grin.

There is evidence that singing old songs from their past can be beneficial to dementia sufferers. They are able to access old memories through music via different brain pathways and it can be calming and comforting for them.
There was a heartwarming You Tube video that went viral of a son singing old Dean Martin songs in his car with his dad who had dementia. His dad was having such a great time.

Encouraging your mum to sing on stage in front of a baying pub crowd though? Confused Not sure what the objective was? Was it supposed to be funny or an insight into dementia for the viewers?
Clumsy writing EE.
