There's been some truly horrible storylines recently - babe and the pigeons and babe and the rat droppings - how is the pub still opening and serving food?!

I see Ronnie and Roxy have been entirely forgot about - they're probably thinking they had a lucky escape, looking at the way the show is going!

I think sometimes they are trying to use the character as comic relief, but the writers are not talented enough to make us laugh WITH the disability, so it comes across as very poor and insulting.

June brown is doing well for 90 and still working. She is a real character in real life too

I saw her on Would I Lie to You and her story was that she went skinny dipping with Letitia Dean. It was true!

I think Tina thought it would make her mum happy to sing a (blatantly racist) song it was very bizarre I think Tina is supposed to be struggiling to understand her mums dimentia or something but considering Tina is a permateen she doesnt have the best judgement.

I can imagine them both having a real laugh doing skinny dipping! - depends where it was though, if it was somewhere hot and exotic then go for it, if its in the north sea then no thanks!
I hope that when Dot does want to retire for good they give her a big proper send off somewhere nice.

If it was supposed to be funny, then it was an incredibly insensitive piece of writing. It's an illness, not a joke. Imagine if they made jokes out of Donna being on a wheelchair or too short to reach something.

That's the difference though when they do do something like that (and they have) with Donna, it's done in a way where we are laughing with her, She is normally the one laughing along or has made the joke herself.

With Sylvie they are expecting people to laugh at her, there are ways to write Sylvie so people can laugh with her, but the writers are not talented enough to do it, they've not even highlighted what it's like to care for someone with dementia very well.

I am shocked to see that there is no Eastenders AGAIN tomorrow night! In fact I thought I was going mad when I saw it wasn't on. Why? Why? WHY? It's like the BBC has lost faith in it. Sorry for capitals but I think you'll agree it's justified over something so serious!

They havnt done much with Dot since she retired, thought would have. We had few strange ones where she was being obsessive about the cat then nothing.

You are right about Dentia and care they went from Tina and Sonia not copying to Tina and Shirley coping fine. Tina only works part time and Shirley dosnt seem to at all. I'm
Not sure how they all can survive on one part time wage and a carers allowance.

Tbf june Brown is an elderly lady they wont her working soap working hours so Dot seems to get scenes/stories in blocks iyswim

It's a massive important thing to be able to laught at yourself and laugh with people at yourself. That's true disability or not.

My Ds is able to laugh at things he does because of his autism - but lo and behold (and rightly so!) anyone laughing at him. Sometimes his literally understanding is actually very humorous. And once he knows what was meant he can see that.
