The Great Interior Design Challenge 2017 ... CONTINUED

Starting this one as I finished last one...

So, Daniela I think will win as it looks like it's been written/plotted that way since the beginning..

I don't think Daniela is either outstandingly good or bad - she's fine, she's okay.

That's why the mega enthusiasm of the judges is so weird.

The first time she appeared, Daniel and Kelly bigger her up so much, I thought - 'Does she know them?' - it was just like ridiculous.

But here she is in the final - quelle surprise!

Saw it coming from her first appearance and it had nothing to do with her design - and everything to do with what the judges were signalling in the voiceover.

'Hey viewers, Daniela is good, good good...'

Bit brainwashy without ever really explaining why she is better than the others.

I don't think she's bad - but there is not enough discernible difference to justify the bigging up that she gets.

Written in the stars eh?

i couldn't ahve called it, though i preferred Nicholas' dining room, Oliver's was too tea shop like.
so all in all think i preferred Nicholas, yet again they sited the theatre but not when criticizing his room - meh

evrybuddy · 19/01/2017 12:22

I've preferred Nicholas' work through the series so far but thought Oliver edged it last night. The dining roo was just a bit too DFS for me, although Oliver's was also edging too close towards Oak Furnitureland.

Nothing to scare the horses.

I do think these two were the best and should have been the finalists.

Interesting to see how it pans out tonight.

Anyone know if Daniela, Oliver or Nicholas have Twitter or Instagram?

I don't understand why they have this time limit imposed. This programme isn't Changing Rooms but they seem to be trying to turn it into that awful programme. I'd rather see a room finished to the standard that the designer/homeowner wants. I'm still puzzling over that ladies accent. I think it may have been Fenland/Lincolnshire. As a Brummie myself I thought, at first, she was from Birmingham, but I'm not so sure now.

MsSampson · 19/01/2017 13:42

Oliver is on Instagram - www.instagram.com/OLIVERTHOMASESQ/. Not sure about any of the others. I reckon he'll win, fwiw. I weirdly liked his dining room, although would never doing anything similar in my own house. The living rooms were just very boring I thought, both of them. Looking forward to tonight's final!

I thought the woman homeowner's accent was Kent/Essex but maybe having lived in Australia?

Cheers MsSampson - found Daniela,

What amazes me is the sheer confidence of the contestants. 'I've never upholstered/made chalk paint/done a murial/ done an 'artwork', but how hard can it be....'. If I had that much confidence, I'd rule the world.
For those who think the woman who was 'done' by Richard was unduly picky, you're wrong. True, he was hampered by having worse rooms, but he didn't follow any brief that she gave him. She did end up with the beautiful little coffee table and hat stand, which I am pretty envious of. [off to name change]

TheSpottedZebra · 19/01/2017 15:47

Yea, I though the accent was Fens/Lincolnshire too. Sounded just like my aunt!

Right, peeps - I really want to upholster some stuff now. They really did make it look easy. And I am nothing if not prone to over-estimating my own abilities...

TheSpottedZebra · 19/01/2017 15:49

Oh no, Blue does she feel a bit mis-represented?
Did they say anything about that when they got you to sign up? Oooh - how many applicants did they have from your street, and how did they whittle it down to two?

Has she kept her rooms as they were 'done' ?

TheSpottedZebra · 19/01/2017 15:50

NB my post really isn't meant to sound sarcastic!

WellErrr · 19/01/2017 16:03

I did wonder Blue. I'd hate to be misrepresented, it'd put me off doing it!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 19/01/2017 16:08

I thought Richard was quite cheeky putting that screen in her room when she told him not too. I want Oliver to win but the maximalist style is nothing new either. I would like to see a competition between professional designers.

NormaSmuff · 19/01/2017 18:29

it is pretty much in the editing and the picky woman was quite reasonable

Cocolepew · 19/01/2017 18:46

Only just caught up, Im watching live tonight.
Nobody has been really outstanding this series.
Out of the 2 I would rather Oliver won.

CremeEggThief · 19/01/2017 19:41

20 minutes to go! Overall, I prefer Oliver, but let's see who's best tonight and may the best one win.

Cocolepew · 19/01/2017 19:48

Is it shorter this year?

MsSampson · 19/01/2017 20:00

I think someone else asked cocolepew, but it definitely feels shorter. There were only two weeks of heats weren't there? Or was it just one?

Cocolepew · 19/01/2017 20:02

Im sure there were more people in it before Confused

Cocolepew · 19/01/2017 20:02

Yay! Sophies earrings are back

GrouchyKiwi · 19/01/2017 20:02

I'd like Oliver to win. I generally like his designs.

I might have said "yay!" when I saw Sophie in the preview.

Of last night's rooms I liked both of Oliver's, despite the glut of pattern in the dining room, and I loved Nicholas's lounge even though it wasn't very interesting. It looked cosy and lovely and I want it in my house.

MsSampson · 19/01/2017 20:03

I feel like they could change up the challenges a bit to make it longer and more interesting. Rather than just being total room renovations

CremeEggThief · 19/01/2017 20:03

Welcome back Sophie!Grin

MrsJamin · 19/01/2017 20:03

Yeah it there were more designers in previous years, we've only seen 9 and 9 shows. Series 1 had 12 episodes and series 2 and 3 had 16 each.

fourquenelles · 19/01/2017 20:04

A kitchen! How long do they have?

TheSpottedZebra · 19/01/2017 20:04

Yay, a kitchen! I like kitchens the most.

LIZS · 19/01/2017 20:07
