Starting this one as I finished last one...

So, Daniela I think will win as it looks like it's been written/plotted that way since the beginning..

I don't think Daniela is either outstandingly good or bad - she's fine, she's okay.

That's why the mega enthusiasm of the judges is so weird.

The first time she appeared, Daniel and Kelly bigger her up so much, I thought - 'Does she know them?' - it was just like ridiculous.

But here she is in the final - quelle surprise!

Saw it coming from her first appearance and it had nothing to do with her design - and everything to do with what the judges were signalling in the voiceover.

'Hey viewers, Daniela is good, good good...'

Bit brainwashy without ever really explaining why she is better than the others.

I don't think she's bad - but there is not enough discernible difference to justify the bigging up that she gets.

Written in the stars eh?

Of course I must be affiliated with her, how could anyone genuinely like and respect her work Hmm
Contrary to popular belief on this thread she has many fans

MsSampson · 20/01/2017 11:15

I think changing the format a bit would make it more interesting anyway. A few different challenges - give them a room, and 2 hours, and all they can do is rearrange furniture and use what's in the room to re-style it, something like that.
Makeover an entire bedroom using only chipboard (oh wait, they've already done that Grin )

fairycakecentral · 20/01/2017 11:20

bibliomania mortified at my typo. Bloody hell. Yes, the public loos in my old home town where I lived, not loved, the loos that had a big sign as you went in the main door saying 'only one adult per cubicle'. Eurghhh.

PurpleDaisies · 20/01/2017 11:27

That's an excellent typo! My best ever was "people should not be wanking in the fast lane of the pool" instead of walking. I guess both statements are still true. Grin

CremeEggThief · 20/01/2017 11:28

Look, out of all the contestants, Daniella certainly wasn't the worst. But she wasn't as good as Oliver on the night, and I'm not sure she was as good as Nicholas either. She deserved her place in the semi-final and because she was up against Richard, her place into the final. I do think Oliver and Nicholas were better overall than her and Oliver has better social and personable skills.

RTKangaMummy · 20/01/2017 11:44

Fairy I SmileSmileSmile at your typo too

honaluuhuu your dedication to your friend or boss is admirable, but her way of treating clients who in the RW would be paying her to design something they like and want to live with is awful IMHO.

Also, making a room seem like she has made it more spacious by taking out some of the furniture so they can't sit down with their friends of family. Of course the room looks more spacious it doesn't have enough chairs or settees for the owners to sit down on in a sitting room!!!

I think the idea of plain box of a TV set for designers to do something in

ElspethFlashman · 20/01/2017 11:44

Sophie was like a breath of fresh air, wasn't she?

All bubbly and pithy and colourful.

And there was Kelly, all dour and grave.

Daniel seems very nice, but he's not suited for TV. He's too furrowed of brow, he is too respectful of Kelly to have an entertaining squabble with her, and.......(once seen then cannot be unseen)

....He talks facing away from the camera! FIND THE LENS, DANIEL! Nobody wants to look at your ear as you make a point!!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 20/01/2017 12:17

"She is going to be extremely successful and rich clients are going to love her ability to use luxurious materials in an elegent and fashionable way."

@Honaluuhuu - how is an MDF cabinet, painted white, with black sticky tape put on (giving, as I said earlier, the look of a municipal swimming pool), or roughly stapling fringing to a light fitting 'using luxurious materials'? How can you justify the terrible finish of that light fitting? How 'luxurious' will those mirrored cupboards in the kitchen be, when the home owner is having to clean them every day?

Her clients wanted warm colours in their bedroom - she painted it white, and put in a few black accents - she didn't listen to that part at all.

It is a false situation, though - in real life, if she were working for a client, she would only have them to please - she wouldn't have to do something that fitted the brief AND made Kelly Hoppen and Daniel Hopwood happy at the same time - which is a really big ask, imo.

ppeatfruit · 20/01/2017 12:32

Sorry IHNRTWT Yes I so agree with STGis Danielle did NOT deserve to win that stupid programme. Also all that bloody horrible painted grey and white "marble' effect stuff for god;s sake and in the KITCHEN of the last one!!! If the poor homeowners do any cooking at all the splash marks will be revolting..

Give me Oliver's kitchen and tiles any time.. It seemed to me that if he had put a better colour duvet cover and more 10 more cushions on his 4 poster bed he might have won.

ppeatfruit · 20/01/2017 12:35

Actually the splash marks will look better than that vile wall. The judges even pointed out that the splash back wasn't fitted correctly. It was only 7cm high anyway. Sorry to rant but that effing annoyed me yesterday Angry Shock

shakemysilliesout · 20/01/2017 12:52

I only just caught up, no no no! That living room was pure hell. How could a TV be more offensive than that box thing. Oliver was robbed. Broadstairs looked nice.

Helbelle75 · 20/01/2017 12:55

Just caught up with this thread. I loved Oliver's designs and his personality. I thought he came across really well, and definitely think he should have won. But I prefer my house to look more like a home than something out of a magazine.

lionheart70 · 20/01/2017 13:21

De-lurking to say team Oliver here as well. Very mixed messages from the judges - why did they keep saying the clients ' responses would be taken into account, when most of Daniela's clients seemed pretty ambivalent about her work.

namechangingagainagain · 20/01/2017 13:45

Oliverwasrobbed!!!!
Anyone know where the final bedroom wallpaper was from? I LOVED it and fancy it for my bedroom but it looked ££££

ppeatfruit · 20/01/2017 14:30

Elspeth Sophie "A breath of fresh air" WITH LARGE GOLD SCISSORS for earrings ????? !!!!!! Have I missed a trend or something ? If Sophie had moved too fast she would ' ve cut her own hair, weird or what??

The other thing about Danielle was that she wasn't very nice, if I had been her client I'd have taken someone else on. she wasn't very good with her work team either, the judges commented on that.

Olympiathequeen · 20/01/2017 14:35

I loved olivers rooms and he won the final for sure.

What the judges say decided them was the previous episodes and Danielle's rooms on those occasions.

I thought her final rooms were all substandard.

MrsJamin · 20/01/2017 14:38

If you read some of the comments on Sophie's instagram, it's clear she preferred Oliver! So much for the need for her to be guest judge if her opinion wasn't listened to! By the way she only did the final as she didn't want to do all the travelling with her son. I guess 16 episodes in the previous series must have been a long time away from her family as they record all over the country for days at a time. I love her use of colour, much more my taste than Kelly "greige" Hoppen.

ElspethFlashman · 20/01/2017 14:39

Ok fair enough about the batshit scissor earrings Grin

Loved her skirt though.

ppeatfruit · 20/01/2017 14:47

Yes it was clear that Soph preferred the colour of Oliver's rooms.

I don't' even think that Dani's rooms were better in the last programmes, she went OTT with fake 'lady parts' pretend marble grey painting on white walls. And that boat in grey again!! She compared herself to the impressionists FGS!!!!

I've got A level art and I would never have the nerve to compare myself to the impressionists!!!!

Cocolepew · 20/01/2017 15:05

One of Danielles houseowners even said they were disappointed with their living room.

Cocolepew · 20/01/2017 15:09

Namechanging the wallpaper is Cocos by Matthew Williamson, its on Olivers Instagram.

ppeatfruit · 20/01/2017 15:12

Yes Coco If it were me I'd 've got the off white paint on a roller and immediately painted over her walls. IMO there was a feeling that the judges were going to have a woman winner whatever!

I can't remember who won the previous programmes.

ppeatfruit · 20/01/2017 15:14

mrsjamin I agree about the colour use. Those huge castle rooms needed it and could take it easily.

Cocolepew · 20/01/2017 15:16

only £70 a roll Grin
I can't remember anyone who has been on previously!

ppeatfruit · 20/01/2017 15:21

The one that stands out for me was the one with little 'boat houses" or "beach huts". that really showed how talented the competitors were. I think they did it themselves too.
