Do we know exactly what Lee did in the Army? Surely he has skills from there (if the Army recruitment ads are to be believed!)?

Akire · 18/01/2017 10:03

Their bedroom
Is still empty across road but paying what £1100 (900 of it rent) that's all savings for starters. If pub isn't making enough pay bills and pay staff decent wage then would make sense for them to have outside jobs to top it up.

HateSummer · 18/01/2017 10:10

Shitney could easily become a childminder to bring in extra money. The way she spoke to Lee about his commission based job interview was shitty. She's deluded.

HoHumming · 18/01/2017 10:20

I am presuming Mick doesn't want Lee back living with them. He is a strange father figure. When things are good, he is a Disney type Dad but he is totally unable to deal with any issues and his fallback is to cut them out of his life.

SoupDragon · 18/01/2017 11:18

To be fair to Mick, I'm not sure I'd want a child back who thought it OK to arrange for the family business to be robbed. At lest not yet.

The80sweregreat · 18/01/2017 11:34

Tbf to Mick i think he could have tolerated the debts lee had, it was ( as soup said) the robbery and Ollies life in danger (again!) he couldnt get over.
He was unreasonable with Nancy though - so he does blow hot and cold, but his choatic early life is to blame there no doubt.

Agree that Lee hasnt many skills - however, even i want him to find another job and im not his biggest fan! Witless needs to step,up and stop mooning over Mick!

HoHumming · 18/01/2017 11:54

I don't think Mick is out of order regarding Lee right now at all but he was a major contributor to putting pressure on Lee on the lead up to his marriage and did not take Lee's depression into account when giving him 'advice'. He was dismissive of Lee's worries and spoke at rather than to Lee in general. He was unsupportive, dismissive and unfair to Nancy prior to her departure regarding both the job Lee took from her and Ollie's accident.

On that note why doesn't Lee look for another bar job. The call centre job is far more pressurised than a bar job would be.

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 18/01/2017 12:12

What happened to the job Lee had at the other bar? He stole it from
Nancy and then resigned straight away.

lazymum99 · 18/01/2017 12:46

I thought Lee was in the bomb disposal unit of the army. If so he would be very qualified in some sort of electronics field. Didn't he do some sort of plumber/electrician course as well. I might dreaming up these story lines.

The80sweregreat · 18/01/2017 13:36

Lazy, lee did do a plumbing course, your right! Dunno what happened there really..
He shd have lots of skills being army trained too.

The80sweregreat · 18/01/2017 13:37

I hadnt thought of the skills he should have!

nancy75 · 18/01/2017 14:16

I think Mick being annoyed with Lee is quite understandable, the debts are one thing but setting up an armed robbery with your parents as the targets is pretty unforgivable in my book.
Pubs pay minimum wage - it would be more cost effective for Twitney to go back to childcare as her main job and maybe do a couple of evening shifts in the pub (most pubs are empty during the day and run on minimum staff

TheMockingbird · 18/01/2017 14:24

She was a Teaching Assistant as well, wasn't she?
I seem to remember a storyline where she nearly lost her job because Old Head Denny grassed her up/told lies about something or other. But she didn't get the sack in the end. How come she doesn't work there anymore?

The80sweregreat · 18/01/2017 15:24

She did work in a school once - cant remember what happened now with Denny but she left and went to work in the pub.
Denny is horrible, I cant help feeling that phil and D's baby has dodged a bullet really not having to live with him! ( he is as evil as bobby beale)

SoupDragon · 18/01/2017 15:39

Denny accused Whitney of hitting him I think.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/01/2017 16:08

Shaz looked very happy when Phil said he hadn't changed his mind

Now we have rats??? Is this coz of the rubbish

Must be so hard to give up a baby for adoption but yes a very selfless thing to do

Babe literally gets away with murder but nick keeps forgiving her

Why

She's is his aunt. Well was for many years. Assume great aunt now SHIRLEY is his mum

The80sweregreat · 18/01/2017 16:28

Babe is a smith - I wonder if she was ever married? I do not recall a man being mentioned, she held a torch for the dreadful Stan for years and years but he preferred Sylvie of course.
She is a good actress though, plays menace really well and that whispering she does is equal to any of the men baddies with whispering voices that are past and present! She would scare the pants off me,
The rat poo in the coffee was real low, I am so glad that Tina spoke up then. disgusting behaviour and they should have called the police for that one. I bet Ian and co still go in the vic for a drink though!

HoHumming · 18/01/2017 16:34

One thing that always strikes me about EE is that nobody is ever embarrassed.

Sharon would be embarrassed surely to bring up her husband's one night stand baby. Lee would be embarrassed to be caught stealing from his family. Shirley would be embarrassed to have accused her friend of sleeping with her then husband. Glenda would be embarrassed with Jack about how she treated his wife. Whitney would never have got over her embatrassment of trying to kiss Mick.In real life, none of these people would be able to look one another in the eye!

What is happening with the Louise story and girls whispering about her. Another public announcement type story of the dangers of social media about to rear its head?

Akire · 18/01/2017 16:52

Think there was a thing where parent complained, could been Sharon but I'm sure in end she left because she was made redundant? After all effort she put into it to getting qualifications shame just through it away same with everyone else on square

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/01/2017 16:57

LostI know. Love babies anyway as that's my job but now finally preg I can't wait to cuddle bubs once born. Love her so much already

I've just mentioned on the spoiler thread how I got the rage during last night's episode when Lee bought coffee & croissants for breakfast.

Yes, the man has no money and needs to repay his dad thousands but seems to think it's OK to blow around £8 on take away breakfast! Angry

Zippidydoodah · 19/01/2017 10:39

Noisy- growing up, I watched the soaps with my mum who always used to bemoan the fact that they all went over to the caff for a cuppa when they had perfectly good kettles in their own homes, a few paces away!

How can they all afford it?!

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 19/01/2017 11:29

As my nan would say, Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves. Looking at you, Lee and "I like the posh croissants" Whitney.

StripeyCover · 19/01/2017 11:56

I'm a few days behind. But found the birthing scenes a bit ew, the whole Denise thing predictable, and just about everything else boring and miserable. Finding it really hard-going at the moment. Can't the BBC create a decent soap? Sorry to be a downer, I am enjoying the humour on this thread, though can't seem to match it!!

StripeyCover · 19/01/2017 12:02

Another public announcement type story of the dangers of social media about to rear its head?

Yeah, probably HoHum. We've had every other one, dealt with like a hammer to crack a nut.
