Forgot about Ashley Cotton plowing head first into the launderette. Poor Dot.

OhTinky · 17/01/2017 07:51

Surprised Denise's family weren't back in to see Baby Spud before his adoption. That said, l don't wish to see more of Libby, I'm irrationally annoyed by her character every time she's on screen.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 17/01/2017 07:59

Sharon quite often uses the Eyes wide as possible, slightly shocked expression as a dramatic technique doesn't she? Grin

seasidesally · 17/01/2017 09:35

my friend is convinced Kush is the daddy, she will not be swayed

TheMockingbird · 17/01/2017 10:50

Hm, the Kush /D storyline didn't go anywhere did it? Then we had him kissing her on Christmas Day (wayyy more than a friendly peck) and Carmel hasn't found out. And you know people in Walford can never keep a secret too long, so I am thinking they may pick up that story again somehow.

Back when I used to read Heat magazine they would always refer to Shaz as Sharon and Her Amazing Acting Eyebrows

EnidButton · 17/01/2017 10:50

doolally one ?

You mean the character who has dementia?

I thought Phil was very good last night. Both him and the actress who plays Denise are very good. I think those two and Shirley are the best actors on EE at the moment. Thinking about it there's a few really good actors. Think I get distracted by the bad ones Sausage sometimes and forget.

I was looking at Shazza's make up and thinking it looked nice too.

The80sweregreat · 17/01/2017 11:08

I do think Sharon is quite pretty, I wished I could do my eyes to look like that, my mascara goes clumpy and I end up resembling Alice cooper.
I hope that Denise now goes on to do really well with her GCSE - she made a very tough decision, but the right one for her, whatever Libby Kim and her mother might think. Not sure if this is the end of it all though. you never know with the Mitchells.
If EE is still on in 15 years time, no doubt he will show up looking for his parents. ( I doubt his dad will be in it then)

TheMockingbird · 17/01/2017 11:16

My favourite characters at the moment are: Phil, Shirley, Denise, Patrick, Kim, Ben, Shazza (and her astonishment), Louise, Ian Blush and Jane (I think the scenes between him and Jane have been sweet... apart from 'Special Time', bleugh!) and Babe (don't shoot me! Hated her with the Les/Christine thing but love how bitch she is to Soggy Sausage) and Shirley's mum - quite like her.

Worst: Sausage, Witless, Squawky Slater - since they'very turned her into a fishwife, Nuchelle, Jack and Mick (for being a drip crying about his wife, turning his back on Nancy, not bothering to understand Lee's issues and keeping Sausage around).

I would've said Lee is a bad one until harrowing car park episode.

SoupDragon · 17/01/2017 11:21

Lee's car park scene was very good. Surprisingly so.

Baylisiana · 17/01/2017 12:48

I also thought it looked like Phil had accepted defeat and was not going to pursue custody. Bit of an anti climax, I almost don't know why they bothered with the whole storyline just to end it as it got interesting. It is probably realistic but since when did that make for good soaps? It has certainly been a depressing storyline.

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 17/01/2017 12:52

I almost don't know why they bothered with the whole storyline just to end it as it got interesting.

Someone else started the story line, sean o'connor finished it.

ApplePaltrow21 · 17/01/2017 12:53

Why do people think Phil won't get the baby if he asks? He's not "adopting" the child, he's trying to get the adoption cancelled. All he needs to show is that he is the biological parent via a court order and then it's just like any other case where you are trying to remove a child from their parents via social services i.e. almost impossible.

People talking about racism and all that crap: not relevant. Courts don't come into your home and take anyone's child because someone else can provide a better life for them (otherwise your richer neighbors could have your kids), you have to either have them removed for abuse/neglect or consent to the removal.

Phil is married, financially stable, was considered recovered enough from alcoholism to receive a liver and has other children. He'd 100% get custody. There's no chance the adoption would be going through without his consent.

Denise doesn't have to consent to it either. Her only shot was giving the baby away without telling Phil. Once he goes to court and they confirm paternity (assuming it's his!) then he's the father and has the same rights she has.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 17/01/2017 12:57

I have a horrible feeling Lee sold Lady Di (and accessories) on EBay sometime ago Sad. Hopefully now Mick has his glasses he'll notice she's missing.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 17/01/2017 13:02

Yes I thought that, Apple. He would have to prove his paternity I suppose because he's not on the birth certificate. I'm not sure how registering the birth works with adoption.

Zippidydoodah · 17/01/2017 13:23

God. I just couldn't bear it if Phil and Shaz adopted the baby. It'd be horrendous. At the very least, it'd be something else to offend Ben (as let's face it, he's been a shocking dad to Ben).

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 17/01/2017 13:40

I hope Phil's birthday breakfast was still warm when he got home. Otherwise Ben will go off on one again about how Phil hates him Grin

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 17/01/2017 14:03

Phil walking off will definitely make Ben throw a wobbly. Grin

NuChellulite was a bit forward sitting herself down at the table and tucking into the birthday breakfast wasn't she? She probably finished off the hash browns and then moaned about her dimply thighs to poor Louise.

ApplePaltrow21 · 17/01/2017 14:26

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties

Phil would have to get a court order to obtain parental responsibility. It's about 200 pounds. The adoption order has to go to court as well anyway. If Phil made himself known as a potential father, the adoption order wouldn't go through without addressing this issue.

If Phil protests, he and Sharon can keep the child.

No offense, but if it worked any other way, no one in Eastenders would have their own children! What's the difference between Phil's alcoholism and Stacey's mental illness? Everyone has a right to keep their own child absent abuse.

HateSummer · 17/01/2017 14:27

I also think Phil is a good actor. EE loves a good adoption story. Remember Bex was adopted off? She never even mentions her adoptive parents or her grandparents.

SoupDragon · 17/01/2017 14:46

Bex was only about 5 when her adoptive parents died and less than a year older when her grandmother died in a fall, leaving Martin and Sonia legal guardians. I have always wondered how likely it is for an adopted child to end up back with their birth parents.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 17/01/2017 14:51

Really surprisingly if Phil does allow the adoption. The Mitchells are forever banging on about Fahmily.

His new liver seems to have knocked some sense into him.

I remember Sonia breaking into the adoptive parent's house and kidnapping Bex as a baby, Summer didn't she change her mind and want her back but it was too late?

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 17/01/2017 14:55

The child who played Bex back then was a terrible terrible actress.

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 17/01/2017 15:11

Yeah that's right Lost but then then parents died later in the car crash so she got her back anyway.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 17/01/2017 15:14

I don't remember that bit about the crash. That must have happened when I had a social life and went out. Grin
Sounds quite far fetched really.

TheMockingbird · 17/01/2017 15:15

I remember Bex originally being called Chloe by Sonia.
How did her adoptive parents die?

She probably finished off the hash browns and then moaned about her dimply thighs to poor Louise.

Grin Grin while Shaz and Phil fall apart over a surprise newborn Potato Jnr, Nuchellulite reminds them she has a cleaner back home, and how she doesn't understand why the Mitchell's don't have one
