I like how they're portraying Denise and her honesty, that she knows she doesn't have what it takes to bring up her son, even though she loves him. Usually in soaps the new uncertain mums have a few episodes of soul searching and they decide to keep the baby.

The80sweregreat · 16/01/2017 21:16

Mrsb, when you put it like that theres no hope for him! ( he is borderline homophobic but i dont think he is racist, he was married to a Romanian once to help her out with her visa! )

However, he did get custody of Lexi ( with Sharons help) until he saw sense and let lola have her, so he may think he can do it again. Not sure how it would play out tbh, but it is stacked against him more so this time. Poor baby though.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 16/01/2017 21:47

I agree Southeast, they've handled the adoption storyline well. It feels realistic. The actress playing Denise has been great in all her scenes.

I thought it was odd about Phil being allowed in the baby room. Denise would have to give permission or go with him. Those places are like Fort Knox.

Does nothing faze Sharon anymore? Phil announces he wants to keep his son, Sharon: Okay, Babe it's your decision (resumes stroking his arm) .
Phil has slept with half the Square on a blackout. Sharon sighs and puts the kettle on, strokes Phil's head absentmindedly.

The80sweregreat · 16/01/2017 21:57

Nothing fazes Sharon, she is indestructable.
Anyone thinking of a one night stand with someone they dont like that much ( or anyone really) should think about these episodes. Use reliable contraception at all times! Be aware!

I bet the babys real parents are chuffed he has been on tv though.

Empress13 · 16/01/2017 22:02

Who do EE and Corrers always have similar story lines - babies this time !

Not sure why D doesn't actually want baby - thought originally it was because of the shame of it being Spud u like's - although a more unlikely
pairing you couldn't imagine!

Considering R&R were fahhhhmly Phil and his brood seem to have gotten over them pretty quickly !

Why does Sharon always wear them same tops - looks like Humpty Dumpty!

Most importantly of all who is looking after Lady Di !

The80sweregreat · 16/01/2017 22:08

Not seen the carter dog since he screwed up Witlesses flowers at the wedding to lee.
D n Phil, not a match you would ever put together. She has poor taste in blokes ( was even engaged to Ian Beale once) and the dreaded Lucas was a murderer. Poor thing needs a break, needs a nice uncomplicated man!

Zippidydoodah · 16/01/2017 22:17

Grin at Twitney/ Potato Snr! Grin

I agree he's walked away, and that touching scene (yes, how DID he get in there to manhandle a newborn?!) was him saying goodbye.

TheMockingbird · 16/01/2017 22:20

Oh ye, D has been with Crackhead Owen, Murderous Reverend Lucas, Dodgy Kevin Wicks, Alcoholic Phil Mitchell and.... Ian Beale Confused

Loved when she was with Kush. But she'd have an annoying MiL in Carmel.

TheMockingbird · 16/01/2017 22:23

Oooh. Forgot, she was with Fatboy aswell.
I think she should only go with younger men (not in a Nuchellulite way though)

nancy75 · 16/01/2017 22:24

Given the choice I would choose serial killer Lucas over Ian Beale every day of the week!

Empress13 · 16/01/2017 22:28

They should give Shirley another gritty story line. Linda Henry who plays her is fab actress. Still can't get over the fact she is Mick's mum!

Btw where is her mum (doolally one) ? Haven't seen her for ages ??

Akire · 16/01/2017 22:43

Why was Roxy mum suprised when Dot said matthew wasn't jacks? Didn't they get married really quick or did I imagine that part? I can see Ronnie not talking to her mum but Roxy was back and forth all the time with them.

Surely jacks 6y son mum would have appeared by now? Poor kid will think his mother is Dad as well.

Can't believe people want drink before 11am wasn't even just one person. I'm glad whit is standing up to babe more.

nancy75 · 16/01/2017 22:53

Maybe Glenda wants to go for custody of Matthew to get her hands on some inheritance, but I think she'd rather have Jack & all the money

TheMockingbird · 16/01/2017 22:56

Because we've had one CBeebies connection today, here is the lovely Lucas Murdering Johnson next to sweet Old Jack, Bernard Cribbins

I was watching a touch of frost the other day with David Jason, must seem it about 5 times before. But the young football fan in it must be 1990s is Mik!! He looks about 16 but all same mannerism and over acting! No doubt it is him, though luckily he was slightly less cockney.

TheMockingbird · 16/01/2017 23:08

I saw Max in Only Fools the other day. Gawd blimey, he looks better with age!

I've been a-Googling, the actress who played Claudette has been in EE 4 times as 4 different characters! Don't know whether her amazing bosom was 2 of the 4

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 16/01/2017 23:14

The Mockingbird Dot's also had her grandson die in a motorbike accident which was the fault of her son.

Hohumming · 16/01/2017 23:23

Perhaps Denise will agree with Phil that she will cancel the adoption and give the baby to Phil and Sharon to raise, that is the only way Phil would be able to get the baby. But it would be far more realistic if he walked away now and the child appeared in eighteen years time looking for his biological parents but do we really want realism? I'm sure Ben will go off in search of his 'blood bruv' and bring him back before he is eighteen in any case.

I laughed when Denise brought up Phil's parenting failures including a building falling on Louise, and Phil retorted 'that was months ago', in the same manner as somebody else would say that was twenty years ago!

Sharon's' make up was very different better tonight.

Was Babe serving beer from a big kettle? Why bother with all the secrecy? It couldn't be free beer as it would cost more than coffee and Mick would see the takings didn't tally with the stock intake. The pub has a licence, they didn't have to hide there was alcohol

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 16/01/2017 23:43

Isn't it because they can't serve before 11 so the beer is disguised as tea?

HoHumming · 17/01/2017 00:20

Thanks Corporal. That was lost on me. Why would so many people want to drink alcohol before 11am. I know a few would but the pub was busy. And where do all these people get the money from to spend on alcohol? They have to be shift workers or unemployed or they wouldn't be in a pub at that time anyway. So many of them!

I suppose somebody will tell Kaff in the Kaff and she will report Mick who will lose his licence?

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 17/01/2017 01:18

Mick caught Babe serving beer with the breakfasts last week and told her to stop as they'd lose their licence.

I love a beer but was thinking who are all these people that want a beer with their fried breakfast?!

HateSummer · 17/01/2017 02:03

Aww Big Potato and Little Potato

😂, I read this thread whilst at work and omg I've been humming "small potatoes" in my head for about 5 hours now.

Third CBeebies link of the thread!!!!:
big potato and small potato's song 😆😆

good episode today. I agree Phil is a good actor. Glenda is after money.

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 17/01/2017 02:39

place marking

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 17/01/2017 07:25

Yeah, Babe serving beer to loads of punters was silly. There wouldn't be a huge demand for it at that time of the morning. Most morning drinkers are alcoholics without a penny to rub together Confused.

I thought for a minute Phil was going to lose it in the hospital, rip the alcohol hand wash dispenser from the wall like The Hulk, drink it and rampage round the ward, growling "Where's me son? Let me see im." With Sharon and Denise chasing after him, Grin

TheMockingbird · 17/01/2017 07:39

I laughed at the "but that was months ago" line too. Also when D asked if his liver came with a lifetime guarantee, cue Shaz widening her eyes with astonishment at such a thought.

Thanks HateSummer now I have that song in my head Angry Grin
