I hope someone cooks swan for Tudor week. And blackbird pie.

Would love to see Paul and Mary get their choppers around that.

SoupDragon · 07/10/2016 14:33

"I think there are only three and twenty blackbirds baked in that pie"

fourquenelles · 07/10/2016 16:32

The Tudor kitchens at Hampton Court Palace are a wonder to behold. I bought a gift jar of almonds seeped in honey and spices when I was there many years ago they lasted all of 3 hours

I am still amazed how many under or over cook stuff :(

As I'm new to gbbo. Do they ever make savoury stuff. Pies or quiches or something like that

All seems to be sweet stuff

MiddleClassProblem · 07/10/2016 22:39

Pies next week. Often do savoury pies.

Trills · 07/10/2016 22:52

Is anyone here also a Game of Thrones fan?

Remember that pie with the live birds at Joffrey and Margaery's wedding?

when the pie was opened the birds began to sing ... well, some of them

FoxesOnSocks · 08/10/2016 06:32

There's a bread week too Blondeshavemorefun

I really fancy a prawn sandwich no after reading the last few posts. Haven't had one in years. Wonder where I can get one at this hour?!

FoxesOnSocks · 08/10/2016 06:35

Was there a swan on GBBO once? Made out of bread or is my mind tricking me?

barkingtreefrog · 08/10/2016 06:37

foxes yes, I'm sure I remember a swan.

ppeatfruit · 08/10/2016 11:03

Yes I remember a swan too, didn't it's head/neck break? Or am I imagining it?

SoupDragon · 08/10/2016 11:27

Google is only showing me meringue swans on Bake Off but I vaguely remember a bread one too.

FoxesOnSocks · 08/10/2016 13:49

Or was it a brad lion? Swan baked Alaska, bread lion.

ppeatfruit · 08/10/2016 13:56

I was thinking whaaat a brad lion ???? Grin

OlennasWimple · 08/10/2016 14:02

OfHorse and Hearts - you need a VPN extender (to fool iPLayer into thinking that you are browsing from the UK) Wink

FoxesOnSocks · 08/10/2016 14:03

Brad Lion, he's very famous don't you know.

ppeatfruit · 08/10/2016 14:08

Grin Foxes Oh darn I just remembered I missed Extra Slice yesterday, was it good?

CrotchetQuaverMinim · 08/10/2016 14:18

the youtube video linked here is still coming up for me when I click on it - or is that only because it's in the UK? I didn't realise Youtube was location linked.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/10/2016 07:14

I watched via you tube in Tenerife last week so should manage to see it hearts

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/10/2016 07:15

And drools at pies next week tho hope they don't have weird flavours

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 11/10/2016 02:25

I think you need to watch it on YouTube within about 24 hours or it will be gone. We were in Internet Purgatory this weekend (it's Thanksgiving here so bank holiday so chance to go up north to the lake) so I missed Extra Slice and now it is nowhere to be found Sad

Olenna I shall google VPN Extender!

Blondes am Envy about Tenerife. Bet you have a gorgeous tan. How are you feeling?

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/10/2016 07:49

A lot better thanks now in 2nd trimester. Barely sick 'touches wood' tho was in shade so not that tanned - but main thing bubs is ok 😘 X

I saw gbbo and the fall almost a week later so may be different as was in Europe!!!??

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 11/10/2016 13:42

Could anyone tell me the date the final will be shown please? I thought there were ten episodes but BBC says eleven. I want to invite people over to watch but don't want to get the wrong week!!!

MiddleClassProblem · 11/10/2016 15:29

The ep thing is confusing. Def quarters then semis this week and next but maybe they are doing a farewell show? You could ask the Beeb or tweet Perkins etc to see if you can find out but you might just have to wait until next week to find out.

Hearts I have used Tunbel Bear on my iPad before when on holiday as a con extender. You get a small amount of data free that you could use to test it works, then you just pay a monthly fee (£2.99 was unlimited when I did it earlier this year) and can cancel at any time

NotPennysBoat · 11/10/2016 16:31

Please report back about the date for the final! I too have planned a soirée for 2nd November, based on the 11 episodes stated by the Beeb. But yes that can't be right, argh!

ChessieFL · 11/10/2016 18:38

Final should be 26th Oct. Episode on 2nd Nov probably catching up with last year's bakers, that's what they've done in previous years.
