ha there are loads of people tweeting about the mustache that it looked like Jane had - so it wasn't just me that thought so

jay55 · 05/10/2016 21:07

The first week I've totally agreed with the star and leaver I think this series.
Thought they all did far too well in the roulade round, I wanted more disasters.

Backingvocals · 05/10/2016 21:38

Love the idea of Tudor week. They did loads of sugar stuff. I read a Philippa Gregory (possibly) book once about the confectioner st the Tudor court. All marzipan and sugar work with lusty behaviour in the pantry iykwim.

Oh plus Moroccan style pigeon pies with loads of cinnamon and sweet stuff in them. Can't remember what they call them but they are quite weird yet yum. Bet they do Maid of Honour tarts as well.

bookbook · 05/10/2016 21:43

This week's episode has been bad for me - no cake available, so had to go and open some chocolate....:)

Ladybirdbookworm · 05/10/2016 22:28

So pleased it wasnt just me that thought Tom had just made a prawn sandwich
I love Selassi but have no idea how he has made it this far
I had cake on stand by for tonight and then ended up craving bloody nuts

Davros · 05/10/2016 22:44

Does anyone else think that Jane looks like Odo, the shapeshifter who sometimes lived in a bucket in DS9?

FoxesOnSocks · 05/10/2016 23:08

I need to watch in real time next week - it's not as good reading the thread trying to recall, couldn't think what some comments were about. Except this:

that blurry shot with Jane in the background looks like she has a massive moustache!

Because I did laugh was too much about it.

yeah to Andrew getting star baker and also to Tom going.

MiddleClassProblem · 05/10/2016 23:13

We're like a dvd extra

Swannykazoo · 06/10/2016 08:43

Found you all! (Shameless place marking for next week)

squoosh · 06/10/2016 11:54

SO glad Tom is gone. I expected it to be Selasi as he was sailing close to the wind but I'm glad he lives to bake another week.

FoxesOnSocks · 06/10/2016 14:55

If it'd have been Selasi it'd have been poor show, up to this week Selasi has done well, Tom's been, erm, well, interesting.

Clawdy · 06/10/2016 16:07

In a weird way, I will miss Tom's intense glare......

LaContessaDiPlump · 06/10/2016 16:14

Didn't anyone else notice Mel saying '....like Berry and Hollywood, they're a match made in heaven' with a naughty twinkle in her eye when discussing sugar and almonds? Dh and I were wondering if they knew about the move to Channel 4 and impending dispersal of the team by that point in filming!

CrotchetQuaverMinim · 06/10/2016 19:21

No, it was filmed last spring I understand (and it was a really hot day in the tent apparently for last night's episode!). They might have known that contracts were up for negotiation and BBC wasn't guaranteed, I suppose.

I remember the comment though, and also thought to myself that Mel and Sue must have had a good chuckle to themselves when they heard it on the episode - wonder if the editors considered taking it out at late notice?!

ofhorse · 06/10/2016 19:59

Is it repeated during the week does anyone know? Can't get BBC iplayer in Ireland Angry

bookbook · 06/10/2016 20:05

Just looked for you ofhorse - it says repeated at 15.00 on 9th October - didn't say which channel, so presume BBC1

ofhorse · 06/10/2016 20:55

Thank you so so much!!!! Can't even read this thread yet- don't want to see who left!!! Stupid box didn't record last night's episode!!! Argh! Me and dh only realised when we sat down with our cups of tea to watch the recording this eve ...

laurentperrier · 06/10/2016 21:12

Lacontessa I thought the same thing when they were sat talking about the roulade....Mel saying have we been naughty? I have far too much time on my hands

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 06/10/2016 21:35

ofhorse I'm in Canada and have to watch on YouTube:

Every once in a while they take the videos down but I also get Extra Slice this way and Strictly but this is the wrong thread for that

Only problem really is that the videos aren't usually put up until the next day, so I can't do the thread live

ofhorse · 06/10/2016 23:12

HeartsTrumpsDiamonds I agree - not the same at all ! I did try to YouTube it this evening but the video had been taken down already it seems.

It's repeated on bbc1 on Sunday afternoon. Thanks to pp who was able to find that out for me Smile

Rrross1ges · 06/10/2016 23:29

I thought it was interesting that normally Mel and Sue are really gutted to when someone has to leave. This week they seemed a bit lukewarm. Maybe they didn't like spooky Tom either.

Trills · 07/10/2016 08:19

I read a Philippa Gregory (possibly) book once about the confectioner st the Tudor court. All marzipan and sugar work with lusty behaviour in the pantry iykwim.

I would read that

Backingvocals · 07/10/2016 08:34

I just looked it up. It was this one - not Philippa Gregory.

It has terrible reviews btw! I quite enjoyed it but I am an idiot so...

iklboo · 07/10/2016 08:41

Oh thank biscuits it wasn't just me who thought Tom's offering looked like a prawn mayo butty! He totally missed the brief with those.

ppeatfruit · 07/10/2016 14:01

I can't link but this week's Private Eye (issue number 1428) has a number of interesting articles about GBBO's takeover. And a funny cartoon of a Channel 4 executive with his head in an oven! Grin.
