Thanks for the thoughts Mads.
Similarly, I think that the entire series, apart from maybe a short bit at the end, if appropriate, should be set overseas.
I would expect the series to feature Georgie only without Two Section or CJ. I don't think there's any place for them in the next series. When they didn't have any fighting to do they looked superfluous.
I think there could be scope for the return of Elvis and the SF boys given that they tend to buzz in and out for specific specialist jobs. I'd like to see the SF characters developed more because I think we do need a little group like that to focus on.
I would also create a small group of characters around Georgie whether it's medic colleagues, doctors, aid workers or local humanitarian workers and let us into their lives a bit more, their motivation for being there and their backgrounds. I think we need to care about them and it's difficult when you don't really know them.
Timescales - I found them really annoying in series 2. We started out being told it was a 6 week humanitarian mission but it seemed as if they were only there a week (1 day in the big camp, 2 days in the little camp, 2 days for Georgie being kidnapped and 2 days R&R). I'd like to see a better indication of the passage of time whether it's actually giving us dates on screen or just showing us scenes (perhaps just ones with music accompanying) to indicate that time has passed and to give us a flavour of all the sorts of work that Georgie has been doing.
The Mission - something gritty, challenging and something which will let us into some of the difficulties of working in that area of the world, the politics, the danger and conflicts that take place. In short something to challenge our perceptions of the place - I think series 1 told us something about the problems of Afghanistan if only from the angle of Bashira's family, the fact that she couldn't go to school, had to get married at 12 etc, and also through the interpreter and his experiences and the loss of his family. I don't know whether there's anything in South America or Central America that would do but thinking for example of the situation in Haiti at the moment you could see aid being sent to something like that or possibly in Asia?
Love life - there's no doubt that Elvis and Georgie have a strong connection and many of the 'new viewers' loved him and want to see him again. This is more in the hands of the actors I suppose as you can't re-cast the role in the event the original actor isn't availabe (this isn't Coronation Street). I wouldn't want to see any more love triangles but I'd like to see them back together even if it's an on-off type romance. They may not be the settling down types but it doesn't mean they can't have times when they are together.
It would be good to have a story that involved the SF boys but keep it overseas. Episode 2 was the best when they were doing their stuff. I loved the tension of that episode - by far the best from everyone. More action sequences are definitely needed but 'light and shade' as they would say in Strictly Come Dancing - too much of either and it lacks depth (ooh get me I should apply for Len's job!)
Georgie's family - limit or don't involve them except for maybe a short bit at the beginning or end of the mission.
Dr Jamie - unless he has a complete change of focus and decides to join Medecins Sans Frontieres I can't see how he could feature in the above scenario. He's not going to forgive Georgie and I think she should have the decency to butt out of his life and leave him to pick up with Judy and her endless supply of finger buffets.
Actually, just thinking back to the two false start weddings I'm beginning to think that it was almost a joke on the part of TG. When you consider how desperate everyone was to have CJ and Molly together and all the FF where they get married, TG gives us two weddings in the series but they are both disasters! Perhaps we've failed to see the joke.
Well, that's my serious offering for Series 3. I'm sure I can dream up some daft ones over time but I doubt they will surpass woof's story.
