I was surprised about Melvin too digerd, he had hip motion in the group dance on the opening show. I thought he didn't really hit the beat either, which the music types usually do quite well.
I'm not sure whether DannyMac (why does he need the 'Mac' part, he's the only Danny on the show?) will make the final four. He is going to need to develop a personality to get the public to vote for him, he currently seems pleasant but so, so bland and a bit vacuous. I did enjoy watching him dance though, he has dance personality. Perhaps if he stopped speaking and did all his bits to the camera through the medium of dance he would come across better.
I liked Daisy a lot. I wonder how she will cope with the latin dances though as she has very long limbs so might not be able to get the speed that she needs. If she can do latin then she will definitely make the final four IMO.
I'm really pleased with this year's group. I think there will be some seriously gorgeous dancing in this series, the kind that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. There hasn't been a really good line up since 2013 which had a lot of good dancers in it, 2015 and 2016 were a disappointedly low standard on average.
I thought that Lesley Joseph looked exhausted in the background on last night's show. I wonder if the day is just very long for her, it was all filmed on Friday, wasn't it? Hopefully if she's there for a few weeks she will get into a routine of having an afternoon rest before the show.
I hope Joanne isn't going to keep choreographing cutesy dances. I'm not fond of a cutesy tango, I much prefer an angry one. If I could dance a tango I'd dance it to Angel of Small Death by Hozier, the second line is 'toying somewhere between love and abuse' which is how I like a good tango to be. Dark, full of passion, a battle for dominance and the impression that the dancers can't wait to get off camera to follow through. Ore's dance last night was more of an American smooth version of a tango.
