The meeting between Love Productions and the BBC has resulted in Bake Off leaving the BBC due to the BBC not offering enough money to keep it! Where will it go and will it be the same?

Good. I hope Mary doesn't go either.

MitzyLeFrouf · 13/09/2016 16:49

Interesting.

That was a very quick decision on their part.

MitzyLeFrouf · 13/09/2016 16:50

'"We've loved seeing it rise and rise like a pair of yeasted Latvian baps. We're not going with the dough."

Love it!

JinkxMonsoon · 13/09/2016 16:53

I didn't think I could love them more.

Wonder what else is going to change? The theme tune/incidental music? The beautiful illustrations of each contestant's bakes? It's really going to lose its quintessential Bake Off-ness.

mateysmum · 13/09/2016 16:59

Such a shame. RIP Bake Off

You can't change all the ingredients and expect the cake to be the same. Bake Off without Mel & Sue will be like a cake with a soggy bottom!

MitzyLeFrouf · 13/09/2016 17:00

It will be like this...............

Bake Off will not be on the BBC in future
BabarityOfRoses · 13/09/2016 17:01

Jinkx It'll be packet mixes and Sara Lee frosting all the way... Best refrigerator crispy cake won by the cunning addition of Hariono star mix.

milkyface · 13/09/2016 17:04

Nooooo. It won't be the same.

Must savour this series by eating many cakes when it's on. Sobs.

Purplepicnic · 13/09/2016 17:07

Paul and Mary will announce their departure next. Would bet my left tit on it.

milkyface · 13/09/2016 17:09

Definitely Mary. Not sure about Paul, he might go.

Would be a completely different show.

LouisvilleLlama · 13/09/2016 17:10

I don't think bake off interest is lowering, it's still rising or maintaining, I think this deal will probably be the penultimate one especially now.

There will be 40 minutes of content not 60, I don't believe they've got shows of a similar format, I wouldn't say programmes like the island are comparable, maybe a cash prize, no Mel and Sue and perhaps Mary and Paul. I think whilst Mel and Sue are important they can perhaps be replaced ( but it will be very important casting Is perfect), Mary Berry and Paul not so much especially now as there will be no familiarity to the current show. The only thing that would represent bake off is if it's in a tent, please be in a tent

MitzyLeFrouf · 13/09/2016 17:12

Paul and his overly gelled hair could be bought.

I'm not sure Mary approves of Channel 4.

MitzyLeFrouf · 13/09/2016 17:13

Someone on Twitter said that with Mel and Sue gone all Channel 4 have bought is a very expensive tent.

Lookdownthesofa · 13/09/2016 17:16

What about Junior Baker Off?

LouisvilleLlama · 13/09/2016 17:20

Or the bake off creme de la creme?

Autumnchill · 13/09/2016 17:24

Just listening to Radio X on the way home and they were joking about a Big Gypsy Wedding Bake Off where they settle it each week with a fight Grin very funny segment

BabarityOfRoses · 13/09/2016 17:30

A cake fight would have livened up creme de la creme. Lovely cakes and I liked the wee woman who could be a bit caustic. But so badly paced!

hollyisalovelyname · 13/09/2016 18:13

GrinGrinGrin - Going to Channel 4 '.....it will be Naked Bake Off on Benefits'

LouisvilleLlama · 13/09/2016 18:30

I think if you take it as a different thing creme de la creme was ok, but I think under GBBO it was different to what people expected. That woman and her ruler though! And having just a crumb on a spoon to taste!

BabarityOfRoses · 13/09/2016 18:36

Oh, I liked her. I just didn't think a lot of the cakes were that good and that the segments were a bit boring.

I think they got the amount of time they gave the teams a bit wrong. If some of the top professionals in the country can't attain the required standard on a fairly regular basis, something is off.

herecomesthsun · 13/09/2016 19:33

Oh dear. Naked Confection.

Memoires · 13/09/2016 19:55

Who would you have as presenters at Channel 4? And if the BBC made its own version, and they couldn't have Berry and Hollywood? We were toying with the idea of HFW (noooooo!), Delia, Ramsay (Ch 4, def not Beeb), that girl who used to be a model, and maybe a new face like Tim Maddams (?is that his name?).

Memoires · 13/09/2016 19:57

Or Monica? I like that woman who won MasterChef, the one with the granddad, too.

PerspicaciaTick · 13/09/2016 20:29

I would be happy to see Miles Jupp presenting and I like Susan Cayman too.

Maybe Harry Eastwood as a judge?

Memoires · 13/09/2016 22:13

Miles is good. I don't think I know Susan Cayman.
