Omg. There are several cathedrals than can impersonate Westminster abbey. The CGI and the crown were awful!!

It's not so much the interiors as the outside shots. The crowd scenes and the street scenes are bad cgi. I follow Jenna on Instagram and she posted a shot of herself on a horse in front of a green screen.

Really regret watching this. Just saddens me that they have to pretty up and sex up history in this way. Both Lord M and the young Victoria were "stout". Are we not allowed to have overweight people on the TV unless they are being derided (I note the "bad" Uncle, who was not, in fact, bad, in real life is shown as overweight).

Portrait artists had to tread a fine line between flattering the sitter but not enhancing their looks so much to make them unrecognisable (Anne of Cleves!). That would be on a par with them saying 'your majesty, you're a munter, here's what you'd look like if you were less munterish'.

Elizabeth Longford's biography of Victoria is worth reading. It's well researched and readable, and doesn't sensationalise. She goes into the Flora Hastings affair at some length. IIRC, her take on it is that Victoria, who was young and inexperienced and didn't have an appropriate female mentor, was overly influenced by court gossip about Lady Flora.

I would have thought she would have done, but it would sound ridiculous to have an English actress put on a fake German accent for 8 hours! It would have been like Allo Allo!

Good acting from the still lovely Rufus Sewell. Less sure about the rest.

I'm getting really annoyed with the whole Penge under stairs drama. He's vile and surely would have been expected to be clean shaven?!
