One week to go. Anyone else can't wait?
I've just started to rewatch the first series. Not sure if I'll get to watch it all again before next Sunday though.

I can't recommend the books highly enough. There's so much more nuance. This is like Poldark for Dummies. I don't recognise any of the characters.

Ross has got to be the arsehole of the century. Not that I condone thumping your spouse but he had that smack in the chops coming. I would definitel advise Demelza to LTB.

I haven't read the books but have loved the series (didn't see the first one). Found this evening's upsetting. Ross is a twat, I'm annoyed as I want to like the main characters. Feel sorry for Demelza.

I'm surprised that there haven't been more posts on this. In the books he definitely rapes her. It's only in later books that he says that she was a willing participant after him being forceful in the beginning.

the "I had no choice" line was ridiculous. At the end of the last series we all loved him. Now I think we all hate him.

Eurgh, that turned my stomach. What a nasty, selfish shit. I actually cheered when Demelza knocked him flying. I feel really uncomfortable feeling that way about the lead protagonist - where will they take him from here?

I thought it was well done personally, its in the books which the series is based on. The storyline wouldn't make much sense if Ross and Elizabeth hadn't got it on. Interesting how they portrayed it and good on Demelza! Can't wait for next week now.

Yep there are 10 episodes in the second series. They just want to build up the suspense with a "To be continued...".

The problem with that rape scene was that they were trying to avoid Ross being a rapist but also avoiding Elizabeth consenting, because she probably wouldn't have consented due to her circumstances apart from the fact that he barged into her bedroom and behaved like a dick.
So you end up with Ross not raping her but her not consenting at the same time which is a contradiction in terms.
