One week to go. Anyone else can't wait?
I've just started to rewatch the first series. Not sure if I'll get to watch it all again before next Sunday though.

Books were amazing. I have read all of them at some point.

TheHiphopopotamus · 04/10/2016 20:59

No upper body strength. I suspect he had arms like pipe cleaners

Grin

Apparently, the actor who plays Francis is American (this has naught to do with his upper body strength, btw). I would never have guessed, his accent is excellent.

99littleducks · 04/10/2016 22:03

I haven't read the books myself but have found the audio books upto book 4 (Warleggan) on YouTube. I've found them really interesting!

over invested!

drwitch · 05/10/2016 14:28

can we have a spoilers thread for those of us who have read the books and want to speculate

ElspethFlashman · 05/10/2016 15:50

Just caught up - poor Francis! He was made to be absurdly saintly by the end though, lol.

The Martyrdom of Saint Francis.

At least he got his leg over one last time before he snuffed it.

The whole conversation between Ross ans Elizabeth at the dinner table was ridonkulous though. Bleating out how they love each other with 20 people within earshot!

And I finally figured out why Caroline laves me cold - it's the monotone.

"Durr Durr Durr, Dr Ennis.....Durr Durr Durrrrr......(raises eyebrow)"

Even in the scene in the woods it was like she was reading a particularly boring excerpt from St Paul's letter to the Corinthians.

NobleKnickerNibbler · 05/10/2016 15:54

Demelza leaves me cold.

'Raassssss, Raaassssssss'

'Raassssss!'

Ohhh, RAAAHHHSSS

I forgot the liberal use of 'Ohhhh' the precedes that Raaahhssing.

ElspethFlashman · 05/10/2016 16:04

Pleased to see that whilst she couldn't afford a new dress at least Demelza was able to snag a new eyebrow pencil in Truro Boots.

MaQueen · 05/10/2016 18:45

...and Elizabeth was next to her buying a No 7 lippy in Pure Plum...

beguilingeyes · 05/10/2016 19:59

I know the 70s series played fast and loose with the plot occasionally, but this one is mucking about with the characters. I don't recognise Elizabeth and George and Demelza is just dreary where she should be witty and sparky. Is Caroline just a really terrible actress?

ShelaghTurner · 05/10/2016 21:26

Started a spoiler thread here should anyone want it.

CaitAgusMadra · 05/10/2016 22:43

Dwight annoyed me with his 'I don't know women except as patients' speech, errrrr what about the married actress you were shagging last season?!

He is one of my fav characters in the books though

MaQueen · 05/10/2016 22:46

Yep, he certainly knew her, very intimately...

thatstoast · 08/10/2016 21:21

Argh, just went in to the book thread by mistake.

Just wanted to come in and share my emotional devastation about Francis. DH was Grin that i spent most of the episode saying "don't go to the mine", "don't go back to the mine" or "get out of the mine" depending on where we were in the episode.

woodhill · 08/10/2016 22:03

Yes he had an affair with Karen? Daniels who ended up strangled.

user1474221222 · 09/10/2016 05:48

I love the reviews in the Guardian ... Sindy doll dog lady Grin

HuckleberryGin · 09/10/2016 22:16

Gorgeous weather in Cornwall considering it's December

MaQueen · 09/10/2016 22:20

Yes! Yes! Caroline is the image of my Sindy ballerina doll circa 1975...

But, oh my wordy...Ross slipping the stockings on Demelza...smouldering, or what [fans self]

MaQueen · 09/10/2016 22:24

Look...they're virtually indistinguishable...

Poldark - series 2
ShelaghTurner · 09/10/2016 22:25

I also had a Sindy doll. It was a far better actor... Angry

TheHiphopopotamus · 09/10/2016 22:40

Lol @ the Sindy. I loved my Sindy but can't stand Caroline Confused

Is it me or is there zero chemistry between Elizabeth and Ross? Or Elizabeth and anybody? She's very wooden.

ShelaghTurner · 09/10/2016 22:44

Beginning to think there's zero chemistry between any of them.

ElspethFlashman · 09/10/2016 22:53

Christ, Delza has low standards. She's not exactly a role model, is she? She always looks so miserable and downtrodden. If she were my daughter I'd be advising her to LTB.

Ross is a complete tool. Who am I meant to be rooting for, again? When Dr Ennis was singing his praises I was wondering if we were thinking about the same person. There's nothing about Ross that's admirable.
