Oh dear, I thought overall biscuit week seemed to have a lot of very shoddy looking bakes. I'm sure they tasted lovely, but a lot of the icing and decoration was quite an embarrassingly liw standard compared to previous years, no?

Even Candace's pub looked rather slapshot on the inside, pool table all wonky etc.

I enjoyed that and was strangely pleased that Val didn't go home - I quite like her (although agree she needs to not cover her bakes in bodily fluids!)

I'm also still loving both Selasi and Candice - both did well this week. Obviously the amazing pub but I really wanted to try Selasi's chilli biscuits - they sounded scrum.

The right person went home and also won star baker - a very satisfying week Grin

Oh, and I had Ginger Nuts and salted caramel popcorn to see me through!

Kate reminds me of Kate Middleton, if Kate Middleton had married a farmer, and become a nurse, and a Brownie leader, and wore clothes bigger than a size 2, and didn't have swishy hair extensions Grin.

Im sure gingerbread structures is usually much later on! It seems they are making it more difficult. The brownie camp looked good but I think the biscuits didn't taste nice. I've changed my mind about Candice too. I like her. Kate is very Head girl. I'm not at all surprised she's a Brown Owl.I bet she's chair of the PTA too Grin

There's no one I particularly like yet, nor anyone I particularly dislike either.

I felt sorry for Welsh gingerbread church woman but she had to go. That thing was a mess and her sweaty icing covered hands trying to stick it back together. Oh dear!

I think Candice using a gingerbread cake as the base for the construction was a clever idea as it gave the structure something more substantial to be attached to. I am glad she won Star Baker, I like her. Also like Salisi, Tom and Benjamina.

The McGanns - I've spent all night trying to remember their names as a test of memory and can only remember the name Paul. They are a sort of budget version of the Baldwins aren't they?

The McGann bros were Steven, Paul, Joe and Mark. One was in Monocled Mutineer, another in a dreadful 80s comedy, and weren't they all in Bread or am I imagining that? Another one in Call the Midwife.

I think Val should've gone, although Louise was terrible too. Poor thing.

I liked Selasi, but now I'm not so sure. He wasn't good last night. In fact there were only a couple who were any good at all imho.

How do they pick the contestants?

Paul McGann was in that terrible Doctor Who movie and is therefore etched into the memories of all Doctor Who fandom as the best Doctor of all timeGrin

The McGanns were all in The Hanging Gale together, one was Doctor Who and another the doctor in Call the Midwife. That's about all I know - expect I think a few of them have children who are also actors.

I think Benjamina is going to be my favourite
