Bit of a sports crossover. Nowt wrong with that. Smile

DramaAlpaca · 06/07/2016 21:15

Oh no, two goals down Sad

hugoagogo · 06/07/2016 21:30

I'm glad you appreciated it grouchy Grin

CremeEggThief · 06/07/2016 21:59

I still can't forgive Wales for how they votedo in the referendum, so I'm glad they lost.

Raahh · 06/07/2016 22:07

Creme I know- despite all my Welsh connections. And welsh-ish maiden name. They have by far the best national anthem though (but learning it for my degree ceremony wasn't easyGrin).

I have decided I am Canadian-ish, through marriage. Although Dh's dad was American, we have a French-Canadian/North American surname. Tenuous. Though I suppose, originally, Raonic wasn't Canadian either.

Complicated world we live in, isn't it?

CremeEggThief · 06/07/2016 22:12

I WANT to have been happy for them, as it's an amazing achievement for them, getting through to quarter finals, but I just can't forgive them. Also, it wouldn't be fair to have rejoiced as much as I did over England losing and then support Wales. Although some Facebook friends are doing this!

Back to tennis, I think.

Raahh · 06/07/2016 22:27

For me, tennis is an individual sport.(doubles asideGrin). Nationality doesn't come into it. Even Davis cup relies heavily on individual players- GB wouldn't have won without Murray.

My all time favourite players have been Swedish, American, Spanish and Russian.

helps if they are good looking

magimedi · 06/07/2016 22:30

Well done Andy & Rog.

Your opponents should have won, on the strength of their tennis, but you, A & R, had the mental strength to get it.

Murray/Fed final!!

YAY!!

Tennis Tennis Tennis

Raahh · 06/07/2016 22:33

Now, now Magi are you Castle in disguise? Grin

Still got semi finals to go. Grin

CremeEggThief · 06/07/2016 22:38

Yes, Raah, you've articulated it very well. Tennis is an international sport; proper tennis fans often support players from other countries.

magimedi · 06/07/2016 22:46

Raah If there was a slap emoticon I'd be sending ti to you!

I am not arsehole Castle in any form whatsoever! Grin

Onenerfwarfrombreakdown · 06/07/2016 23:04

I had to go to a work meeting tonight, left home just after the first set tie break, but the lady sitting next to me had her phone (naughty) and we were surreptitiously checking the score every few minutes. Mind you the boss was checking the Wales score surreptitiously too so she can't complain Wink

ilovevenice · 06/07/2016 23:17

Hello - haven't been following the thread I'm afraid but struggling to watch Wimbledon Today on Iplayer - how long usually until it's available - does anyone know? (They currently seem to be offering day 8 highlights which isn't terrifically helpful!)

trixymalixy · 07/07/2016 00:25

Wish I'd had centre court tickets for today instead of Monday! Just catching up with the matches, but they seem to all have been very dexciting..

trixymalixy · 07/07/2016 00:28

Dexciting is 10x more exciting than you standard exciting, I don't do typos. GrinWink

CremeEggThief · 07/07/2016 13:12

Ready? Play! I would love to see Venus through, but my head tells me it will be Serena and Angie.

hugoagogo · 07/07/2016 13:14

I have my fingers crossed for a Williams free final.

CremeEggThief · 07/07/2016 13:34

I would love to see Venus win again. She's done so well lately, especially with her health condition.

GrouchyKiwi · 07/07/2016 13:37

Apparently Marion has some unknown virus. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/36735499

ilovevenice Have no idea about iPlayer coverage, sorry. Is it up now?

OP posts:
Raahh · 07/07/2016 13:40

This isn't going to be as good as yesterday, is it?

magimedi · 07/07/2016 13:49

I am very sceptical about this 'unknown virus'. Bartoli is saying she has had it for months & yet a couple of weeks ago she was saying that she was just healthily slimming. I think anorexia can't be ruled out & I feel VERY sorry for her.

CremeEggThief · 07/07/2016 13:53

I don't want to speculate about someone who doesn't seem well, but I was shocked even at the difference between her at the French Open and on the first day of Wimbledon, when she was one of the panellists on Clare's show. I hope she starts getting better soon.

I hope Vesnina can get into this second set still, but it seems very unlikely.
