Just discovered this on iplayer. Only seen two so far and really loving it! Anyone else watching?

OP posts:
dailymaillazyjournos · 26/06/2016 23:24

Are we supposed to know who the modern girl he says at end of epi one, is? Because if so, I have no idea?

CheekyMcgee · 03/07/2016 11:53

You will find out who she is towards the end of the series. I've watched the whole thing now on I player and thought it was great. Episode five is particularly terrifying.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/07/2016 13:13

Been away past two weeks so catching up madly

Yah for sky + :)

DiscordiaVanDiemen · 03/07/2016 13:54

I finished watching the whole thing yesterday. Was very disturbed by the ending. I have an explanation for it, but it's all very upsetting!
I really enjoyed the series though, the script, acting, locations and especially the music.

snowgirl29 · 03/07/2016 14:04

Yes. Loved it. Although surely it needs a series 2 to explain that ending.

Every time I thought I had worked it out something happened that blew my theory out the water. I thought The Others vibe too. Until the last couple of episodes.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 03/07/2016 17:13

Loved it! I liked the ending too, hints of season 2?

ProfYaffle · 04/07/2016 06:59

Ooh! thehiphop thanks for that snippet. I left a message on the band's website asking when it will be released, glad to hear it'll be coming out.

Finished watching episode 6 last night - completely brilliant, best thing I've seen on TV for ages. Can't wait for series 2.

Cocolepew · 04/07/2016 21:11

I didn't really understand the ending Confused, I'll have to wait until everyone has seen it!
Episode 5 scared the life out of me Blush

Fiderer · 05/07/2016 08:19

I didn't like the wife at all. So much so it made the whole Nathan story weaker for me.

So FancyShrew is not alone Grin

I thought she'd be like Sam/Honeysuckle Weeks in Foyle's War. She's a similar character who could have been immensely annoying but it worked. Didn't here, not sure why. Lack of charm maybe?

Great series, haunting music. Love Diana Quick, would have happily seen more of her.

DiscordiaVanDiemen · 05/07/2016 08:30

I didn't like the wife either! Although I'd got used to her by the end, she irritated me all the way though the first couple of episodes.

Sallycinnamum · 05/07/2016 08:43

Am I imagining it but at one point did he look up on the sky and see vapour trails from a plane?

My colleague and I both swear we saw it!

bombayflambe · 05/07/2016 08:50

Sally yes, yes he did.
We watched all 6 episodes with the teens on Saturday night and made a special thing of it as youngest was at a sleepover. We all loved it.

Greengager · 05/07/2016 08:51

I loved the wife! I thought it was noce to have someone grounded and practical and cheerful while all that was going on. Lots of plot holes but still very good.

Spoilers below

The group at the end were from the twenties/thirties I'd guess, when the house was still inhabited?

fanniboz · 05/07/2016 08:53

I love this show! I always make sure I watch Colin Morgan's stuff, he's so good and attractive. The series gets better and better as it goes along, great ending! Hope there's a series 2 Smile

Fiderer · 05/07/2016 09:56

CM was v good. The maid Gwen too. Loved the settings, light, loads of things, scary and not.

Watched ep 5 & 6 last night. Woke up with the "Do not cross the hayfield" song in my head. Went to wake my daughter (13) for school at 6.30 and she wasn't in her room. Checked the bathrooms, her brothers' rooms, she Never Gets Up Early. Not Ever.

I did for that heart-stopping moment think the world had changed.

I called her mobile and she answered and told me about the PostIt note she'd left on my laptop telling me she'd gone to her friend's house.

Notes on the KITCHEN TABLE - was ever thus, will be bloody reinforced to be Forever Thus with real bloody blood if necessary. You weren't here, why would I look at my laptop?

You have never in your entire life got up early AND LEFT THE HOUSE.

I am NEVER WATCHING SPOOKY STUFF AGAIN.

Ulysses · 06/07/2016 08:02

It has everything that I love in a TV show - chills, intrigue, costumes and it's great to see Colin Morgan as a leading man. He's got a very rare beauty for a man.

spoilers I really hope there's a 2nd series but now I'm a bit perplexed as to they will work that out given how innately good Nathan appears to be.

BooToYouToo · 06/07/2016 15:23

Just watched last night's episode (2). Was gutted about Charlie, thought once the boys' bodies were discovered they would leave him alone like the haunting of the vicar's daughter in ep 1 after the baptism.

Brilliant stuff, why is it tucked away on a Tuesday night?

987flowers · 06/07/2016 15:48

Ive skipped some of this thread to avoid spoilers. I watched episode 2 last night and was disappointed that there was no one from the future in it like it suggested last week. Intrigued and may watch another episode on iPlayer tonight.

BooToYouToo · 06/07/2016 16:45

There was a car though flowers. I did wonder if the old man looking for the boys was Charlie come back from the future at first.

Abominablebride · 06/07/2016 18:14

Only on episode 2 here as well but loving it. Omg Colin Morgan is delicious I'm finding it very hard to concentrate

I was a little confused why Charlie was chosen by the boys? Was it just on the basis that he didn't belong there because his mum wasn't really his mum?

987flowers · 06/07/2016 20:58

Oh yes I'd forgotten about the car, I'm just too impatient Grin

NHSisfubar · 07/07/2016 04:11

More of this please BBC; by far and away the best thing I've seen in ages and will now be re watching the whole lot with DP. Brilliant.

Greengager · 07/07/2016 16:44

Ambomnible. Yes think they choose Charlie on the basis that like them he was born to a single mum and would have ended up in the workhouse if the aunt hadn't raised him as her own.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/07/2016 23:36

Finally watched 1. Got confused 😁 Quite normal for me

So the girl got possessed by the man?

Why did the man with the apple not move from the ploughing horses then got mowed

Did we see a nipple in the bed scene when rolling about in the bed -and in a white nightie

Found 1 hard to get in to but so many said its good

Does 2 follow on or a different story?

Cactuar · 08/07/2016 23:21

(spoilers ahead) Did it bother anyone else that we knew nothing about Gabriel's mum - not her name, how she died or anything? Gabriel wanted his dad to kill himself to look after him in the afterlife and instead settled for his great great granddaughter -why if his mum was already dead? Do you think the wife they refer to Nathan killing in the last episode could have been his first wife rather than Charlotte? Why does Nathan seem totally unmoved about the death of his first wife so much so that we know next to nothing about her? Lots of questions for the second season!
