aitch - these shows thrive on the publicity and it suits them to have these morons spouting racist rubbish. Endemol is manipulating the situation. Yes I would feel more comfortable if it was edited out -Endemol's profits would drop and this vile crap wouldn't be given prime time airing. I'm all for open discussion about racism - but don't think Big Brothjer is a helpful starting point.

almostmybeetrootday · 17/01/2007 22:28

missed it all due to dinner with mother - hate bigmouth

anything I need to know?

Edam · 17/01/2007 22:28

To pick out just one point... 'she should fuck off back home' is a nasty thing to say and is racist if you are saying it about someone who lives here. But it isn't 100 per cent racist - I thought it only yesterday about a twatty American tourist who dropped her very heavy suitcase on my foot as she was barging onto a packed train without saying sorry (immediately before her husband did the same thing. Ouch). Not because of her background but because she was a tourist forcing her way onto a commuter train with heavy bloody cases and being darn careless about it. As it happens, she was white, but it's the same words, isn't it?

Dofeellikedancing · 17/01/2007 22:31

Actually Edam I beg to differ. being white is irrelevant.

bakedbeans · 17/01/2007 22:31

I am not a twerp I meant when the voting for eviction starts

AitchTwoOh · 17/01/2007 22:32

i actually do think it's a helpful starting point, zookeeper, so there we differ. it's certainly got people talking about insidious, unthinking racism in this culture more than, well, anything else i can think of. i even think that it is making people who would never watch the news think about it even more than, say, the stephen lawrence case. which is shameful of course, but i think it's true.

And how much money will CBB be making when everyone phones up to vote? Lots of £

I think you are a twerp for not reading my post properly before commenting aren't you?

AitchTwoOh · 17/01/2007 22:34

i think danielle even realised that, judging by her 'gulp' reaction.

zookeeper · 17/01/2007 22:35

don't agree aitch - the Danielles of this world may desist from saying "fuck off home" but won't stop thinking it. Do we really need BB to tell us racism exists?

dotcotton · 17/01/2007 22:35

If "eff off home' wasn't meant in a racist way why did Danielle visibly gasp when they confronted her? Of course it was.

Fireflyfairy2 · 17/01/2007 22:35

Edam, that's not the same.

AitchTwoOh · 17/01/2007 22:36

have you read this thread, zookeeper?

zookeeper · 17/01/2007 22:36

eh?

tamum · 17/01/2007 22:37

Quite, dotcotton. I think it's good that we're all discussing carefully what constitutes racism and what doesn't (well, some of us are), and although I wish it hadn't happened I don't think it's entirely negative.

Fireflyfairy2 · 17/01/2007 22:37

Who's bakedbeans? I don't think I've seen you before

zookeeper · 17/01/2007 22:37

think I know what you mean - must be the(irish) brains...err oops

AitchTwoOh · 17/01/2007 22:37

plenty of people on here saying it's 'just' plain bullying, as opposed to the racist sort.

turquoise · 17/01/2007 22:37

Bloody hell the editing deserves an oscar. Apart from Jade's rant, and the 2 comments from Danielle, which they had to leave in to keep the frenzy whipped up, I thought it was an astonishing attempt at damage limitation. All that guff from Cleo about how no-one is racist, Jermaine talking about Jade's hard life and lack of role models, and then Danielle "aplogising" after the lightest of raps over the knuckles.

What did Donny Tourette say on BBBM? I missed the vital moment before they pulled the plug on him.

bakedbeans · 17/01/2007 22:38

Fireflyfairy2 Hello

Monkeytrousers · 17/01/2007 22:39

"I think you are a twerp for not reading my post properly before commenting aren't you?"

Yes, and can I say for the record that I am a VERY bad mother too

mummylin2495 · 17/01/2007 22:40

aitchtwooh has asked bakedbeans who she is several times but she manages to evade the question everytime.she likes her children to tell the truth bu dosent want to do it herself it seems

bakedbeans · 17/01/2007 22:40

Do your children like Angel delight too?

AitchTwoOh · 17/01/2007 22:40

judging by her comment to the effect that she's a haiy-handed trucker who doesn't live under a bridge, bakedbeans is an experienced MNer who has name-changed because she is ashamed to put her usual screen name to her views, fairyfly2.

i and others have asked her once or twice (or seven or eight times) for clarification on this point, but she seems to have missed the posts.
