oh lordy - didn't notice that aitch - that's a bit much isn't it?

Jermaine's speech of Love

Mercy · 17/01/2007 18:29

Channel 4 has just released a statement saying that it a cultural and class clash, that there has been no overt racism (total paraphasing by me).

So subtle, casual racism is OK then?

AitchTwoOh · 17/01/2007 18:31

i'm off again, must attend to matters domestic.
for the record i don't think 2 minutes is excessive showering time, bakedbeans. i also think that you are really clutching at straws...

now, back to my question, which i think you have ignored four times already...

are you new or are you a name-change (or two name-changes, lord knows...)

if you're new, welcome to MN
if a namechange, why?

tamum · 17/01/2007 18:35

I'd like to know why someone chose a name like yours just to post a short non-contentious post Aitch. And I would also be interested to know why bakedbeans has such enormous energy for nit-picking bickering arguments about showers but not enough to asnwer a simple question?

" Diplomats here in India say the row is damaging Britain's reputation

BBC political editor Nick Robinson"

for goodness sake STOP IT NOW!

FairyMum · 17/01/2007 19:04

i cannot believe this is al down to jade goody. thank god the goody mother is long gone.....

fuzzywuzzy · 17/01/2007 19:13

Blimey, this is insane....and India being a a nuclear power and all........

As I said earlier being referred to as 'the indian' isn't racist in itself (mind you mostly I've been called the Indian lady/girl, within earcshot at any rate). However, if someone decided to repeatedly call me 'that Indian', despite knowing my name, and conveyed in a derogatory manner, I'd say that person was trying to insult me and using my race as a means......come on now Shil as in shilling pa as in papa. There now not so difficult is it.

As an aside, I deliberately chose both my girls names so they would be pronounceable by the english tongue. But if this is the way adults behave why on earth do I expect more from their children.....

LucyJones · 17/01/2007 19:15

I think what C4 should do is show on the TV screen in the house the front pages of today's Times, Sun and Mirror to show everyone in the house the reaction outside the house today. Imo this would be better than letting the 3 girls go out there when the public's reaction is going to be so volatile towards them.

dinny · 17/01/2007 19:16

C4 have released a statement saying they don't believe there has been racial bullying, just a clash of cultures.

DarrellRivers · 17/01/2007 19:17

And I'm sure they've got nothing to gain by saying that.
And also, we should believe what they say is true
FGS

Monkeytrousers · 17/01/2007 19:18

What the is that supposed to mean? How is cultural bullying different from racial bullying in this instance?

The world is mad.

Monkeytrousers · 17/01/2007 19:19

Could you tell I edited a word out then..

sleepyted · 17/01/2007 19:20

It's racially motivated bullying. Just because they aren't call her names to her face, doesn't mean they are not being racist.

southeastastra · 17/01/2007 19:22

i'm getting a bit fed up with the programme makers now, is a stupid reality show really worth all this tension

magicfarawaytree · 17/01/2007 20:20

Whilst I think jades behaviour is appalling the worst person by a mile is danielle. There was no way, given the humiliating evition of jackiey goody, that Jade could ever be have a relationship with shilpa. I would have been mortified if my mum had been evicted that way, no glamourous exit, no time to prepare, no shoes even. (i would have been mortified if jackiey had been my mum anyway) Jade probably felt that the tension between shilpa and her mother was what tipped the balance for her mum being evicted. I bet jade thinks that her mum was bullied by jackiey and she is only giving shilpa a hard time to get her back for jackiey.

magicfarawaytree · 17/01/2007 20:23

should say bullied by shilpa

AitchTwoOh · 17/01/2007 20:23

have a look at Out of Stock and tell me if you still think danielle's the worst

LucyJones · 17/01/2007 20:23

magicfarawaytree - surely if Jade thought that way she would realise that her mother had been evicted for her nasty and demanding behaviour towards Shilpa and would have modified her own behaviour accordingly?

JoolsToo · 17/01/2007 20:23

I agree with you about Danielle magic. I said from the beginning, she's come out with some vile stuff. Jade is more vocal though.

LucyJones · 17/01/2007 20:25

I think Danielle has just jumped on the bandwagon and thinks she is endearing herself to Jade by laughing at her every word. When she went into the house Jade was on most covers of magazines like Heat etc so probably thinks she's endearing herself to the public by being her mate. I think Jo is of the same opinion

dotcotton · 17/01/2007 20:25

Crikey, i've ben out today and come back to find we are on the verge of WW4, Jade Goody really is inferential now innit!

JoolsToo · 17/01/2007 20:26

aitch - I posted that link earlier and you're right it is shocking but I still think Dan is worse. It was D who called Shilpa a 'scumbag' and a 'dog' and talked about putting stuff in her food. She is vile.

Jade is foul mouthed and argumentative but she hasn't actually come out with anything like that to my knowledge - not that there's much between them.

JoolsToo · 17/01/2007 20:27

I think that video is in tonights prog

AitchTwoOh · 17/01/2007 20:31

i actually feel quite sorry for danielle. she's obviously an empty-headed little sheep with a nasty side, and i reckon that she thinks that Jade is the cool girl and wants to keep her on-side. saying 'bitch' about that dream is a case in point, it was absolutely nuts... but it kept her profile up in the gang, iykwim?
jo is an astonishingly nasty piece of work, though, but i hope that Jade gets the credit she deserves for this turn of events. i do agree with magic, though, that she was unlikely to sort things with shilpa after her mum leaving. but i equally agree with lucyjones that she should have done, if for no other reason than to keep the audience on side.

LucyJones · 17/01/2007 20:34

What always concerns me about these sort of things is whilst the 3 girls are in there they are lambasted for bullying. But when they come out they will get bullied to a far greater extent by press, public etc etc. How can we stamp out bullying in schools etc when this sort of situation isn't dealt with in the house. BB should take the 3 of them aside explain their behaviour and why it's wrong etc if only to give a message to teenagers watching that it is wrong.
