Ok, like our sister thread for those who have read the books, this is for discussion of Outlander Series 2 but for those who have not read the books and/or don't want any spoilers.

Hi

Yessss I met the gorgeous SH just the other week. snozzle verbena It said on Twitter he was visiting a place I used to work at so I chucked the kids in the car and stalked waited calmly outside in case I saw him and I did. Lovely leather jacket, jeans, sunglasses combo. We had a good chat after I died seeing how beautiful he is in RL. Got a pic, autograph and hug so that made my entire year. Grin

I would like to see more JC tender moments. The fade to black scene this week annoyed me a bit it would've been great to see even a couple of minutes more. Maril Davis said that they've had to cut a lot of CJ stuff out as they've been governed by time and a lot of things to fit in 13 episodes. Sad The JC scenes we do get are fabulous. Sam and Cait just are JC completely.

They were going to cut out the Jamie holding baby scene at Lallybroch and am so glad they didn't!

Oh and I really don't like Leghair (as I call her)

Verbena37 · 30/05/2016 14:35

Oh wow, that's so cool!!
Lucky you and a lovely memory to keep.

KellyHb · 30/05/2016 14:54

It is definitely. I think I had a bottle of wine when I came back to calm my nerves. Grin

snozzlemaid · 30/05/2016 15:03

How brilliant Kelly.
I know that feeling of having to calm down as I met Aidan Turner a couple of years ago and I was on an adrenalin high for days!

Glad to hear he was happy to chat and do a photo etc.
I've not seen the latest episode yet. Was out all day and not had the chance to see it yet today. I will make time this evening though.

TheHiphopopotamus · 30/05/2016 16:37

I've got to confess I've got a bit of sympathy for Leghair (Grin I love that). Who on here wouldn't have sniffed Jamie's shirt?! (Whilst muttering you will be mine!)

I said on the other thread that I'm warming to her. It's easy to dismiss the female rival as a cold hearted, jealous bitch but that's an easy (and lazy) road to take. She ain't ever going to be popular (or this a popular opinion) but I'm trying to put myself in her place. She's only supposed to be a young lass after all.

AKAmyself · 30/05/2016 16:46

I'm the same. I can't hate Laoghaire. If anything I hate DG for making her such an archetype.

Plus who are we kidding. In the outlander universe id have totally been the kitchen wench reduced to cheap magic and sniffing shirts. Speaking of which that got me thinking about the logistics of centralised laundry service in 18th century Scottish castles. What kind of system did they use, you reckon, to distinguish all those identical and identically grimy linen shirts?!? Clearly they went by smell :D

these captions are hilarious:

Sniffing Jamie's shirt...tick
Letting Jamie eat my potatoes ...tick

kelly and snizxle I'm so glad Aidan and Sam were lovely irl. Just need someone to meet Rollo from Vikings and my hat trick will be complete .Smile

Agree about Leghair.

When do we see Angus, Dougal and the other one ?

Feeling a bit let down by this series tbh.

I think SE and CB put their foot down about gratuitous sex scenes and who can blame them, must be awkward although I'd manageGrin

I'm hoping for a bit of Angus and Rupert next week.

hudyerwheesht · 31/05/2016 13:07

I do agree that it wouldn't be faithful to Jamie's character for him not to fight and flee instead. My issue is that this is taking up so much airtime, like someone said, Jamie and Claire's story has become secondary to the whole upcoming Jacobite rebellion.

I'm desperate for some Dougal scenes, miss him loads. Preferably in an angry fight with Collum.
And for the comedy relief of Angus and Rupert.

Not happy with the return of Leghair either. They've made her into a really vindictive type in the series compared to the book, I think.

Loved the scene with Jamie and the baby. It sounded as though he was talking about the family members as it was gaelic with a smattering of names. Aww.

Btw massive Envy to Kelly and snozzlemaid - you lucky, lucky ladies. That's envy obviously not sickness, definitely not that. Smile

I really wish they'd given more time for thir relationship in ths episode too. After what happened between them in France I wanted to see them building their relationship again. It was barely touched on, with just Claire watching Jamie with the baby.
I'm also missing Dougal, Angus and Rupert and their comedy.

hudyerwheesht · 31/05/2016 13:21

Me too snozzle - it wasn't even skimmed over, just missed out entirely. Except for a vague reference to healing in the narrative at the start. I wanted to know how they coped, how they got over it, how it affected their relationship, etc.

(I may be overinvested)

Random question: did anyone watch Casualty about 20 years ago?

The prophet woman that Old Simon threw out that Claire met up with in the church used to be Sandra Nichol in Casualty back in the day. It was bugging me where I'd seen her before. Pic here:

Me too. As fascinating as the political machinations of Bonnie Prince Charlie are, my main reason for watching Outlander is the relationship between Jamie & Claire.

AKAmyself · 31/05/2016 19:45

i agree with all of you. Just hoping that a lot of those scenes ended up on the cutting room floor and we'll get a wagonload of deleted scenes extras in the dvd!

hudyerwheesht · 31/05/2016 20:07

Ooh that's a good point aka Smile

Hasn't she just verbena?!

That's a cracking pic.

Was wondering where I'd seen her.

Perfect hair Verbena.

At the end of the series I'll go back to reading Viyager just to get a bit too much more detail about J and C

hudyerwheesht · 01/06/2016 06:26

Wee trailer for the Scotland half of the series - and the good news is Dougal, Rupert and Angus are back, yay!

snozzlemaid · 01/06/2016 07:24

Anyone else got a dh/dp who watches with them?
I watched the very first episode yet again yesterday whilst tackling a huge pile of ironing and dp came in and started watching. In the evening we were deciding what to watch and he said 'that Outlander looked quite good' so we watched the next couple of episodes.
I'm delighted as I get to watch the whole thing yet again!

pixieg1rl · 01/06/2016 07:44

Does a happy Angus & Rupert dance

hudyerwheesht · 01/06/2016 11:15

oh you're so lucky snozzle, I dream of that kind of scenario so I can watch it all again and get to watch new episodes on the TV in one go instead of on my ipad 10 or 20 minutes at a time.
I tried to get him on board right at the start of my obsession but he wasn't keen to take it on. I think he sees it as romantic drama.

I've shown him clips now and again (mainly ones featuring Castle Leoch after we visited Doune Castle) and hoped that he would be interested enough to watch it but nothing. Boo!
