Ok, like our sister thread for those who have read the books, this is for discussion of Outlander Series 2 but for those who have not read the books and/or don't want any spoilers.

Although come to think of it the next couple will be good to see, back in Scotland, back on track relationship-wise, happy days.

And most importantly, the prominent vein is hidden behind the much needed fringe and the knees are back out in view.

This season is a killer for my pregnancy hormones Sad

gingerboy1912 · 14/06/2016 10:27

Tbh I can't wait for them to get back to Scotland the whole Paris thing just made me feel on edge with that sense of deception and the constant possibility of being sentenced to death. Sad

gingerboy1912 · 14/06/2016 10:27

Meant to say I'm a few episodes behind you guys.

pixieg1rl · 14/06/2016 11:51

Blatant place marking.

hudyerwheesht · 16/06/2016 13:34

Gosh, it's gone quiet round here...

So, I've just been reading the start of DIA (in the "take a look" bit in Amazon, so I'm assuming its the beginning) - I'm intrigued.
Should I start reading it? Or skim-reading maybe...?

I'm going to need something to take the edge off after the TV series finishes soon. (Sad)

I noticed there's another book being released later this year.

DIA is very different to the first book, I think. In pace and also plot wise, as you might have found in the differences between S1 & S2. The difference is there's still quite a bit of shagging in DIA, compared to the drought that we seem to have had in S2.

The book is ok. I'm not overly enamoured with the books. And they go downhill after Drums Of Autumn in my personal opinion. They weren't what I hoped for after watching S1. I've enjoyed the discussion and speculation on the other thread though.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think the new book that's coming out is the last one in the series.

hudyerwheesht · 16/06/2016 14:22

Hmm, interesting hipho. I've a feeling I might be of the same opinion as you as I wasn't massively impressed with the first book at times.
Oddly, there were times when I enjoyed its escapism and getting more detail of what I had watched but there were others when I could hardly be bothered to read it.
I probably got through it because I enjoyed the story whereas I didn't enjoy s2 as much, story-wise.

I think Outlander fans are divided into two camps - those who read (and loved) the books before the tv series came out, and those who saw the series first, then read the books and thought them a bit 'meh!' Grin

We've discussed this at great length on the Spoilers thread but can't really say too much on here. If you ever plough your way through them, come and join us over there Smile

gingerboy1912 · 16/06/2016 15:51

I've not read the books but now I've seen the tv series I don't feel inclined to read them. The tv series has been so good at bringing the characters to life for me that I'm not sure the books could improve on it imo

gingerboy1912 · 16/06/2016 19:26

Just watching episode 8 they are back in Scotland! Why does Jamie look soooo much better in the highlands than in Paris Grin

hudyerwheesht · 16/06/2016 19:58

I know,ginger - doesn't he?

Like I said upthread a bit, I see Paris Jamie now and I can't believe how different he looks; I've already re-acclimatised to (proper) Scottish Jamie, all rugged and kilted.

Ep11 preview, I'm nervous again...

Can someone find a link to the hilarious captioned review that some newspaper publishes?
It's been on one of these two threads but I can't find it

gingerboy1912 · 18/06/2016 10:58

Hudy me too

hudyerwheesht · 19/06/2016 08:08

Oh I would like that too pimms, can't find it either.

Just watched episode 11. I loved it. Tender moments, heart stopping moments and the odd line that made me smie.
Enjoyed Murtagh's moment. Go Murtagh. And Go Mary!
Jamie talking to a sleeping Claire was beautiful but surely they could have shagged after that
The opening powdered wig scene is pure genius.

Verbena37 · 19/06/2016 09:07

Loved this episode. Was sad when it finished but more adventures next week.

snozzlemaid · 19/06/2016 11:29

Also loved Dougal's rescuing of Rupert whilst on horses.

TheHiphopopotamus · 19/06/2016 12:34

Also loved Dougal's rescuing of Rupert whilst on horses

That was my favourite bit. I'm getting the Dougal love now, I went off him a bit after he stabbed all those injured Redcoats last week.

Still pissed off that there's been virtually no sex scenes in this series though Hmm

WanHeda · 19/06/2016 14:36

Ouch, that was a bit gruesome! Go Murtagh though!

hudyerwheesht · 19/06/2016 16:51

This was one of my favourite episodes of the season, agree with snozzle that it was a good mix of tension/excitement, tender moments and a bit of humour thrown in. More like s1 really.
Also loved Dougal rescuing Rupert, he has redeemed himself a bit after being a bit blood thirsty last week.

OP posts:
TheHiphopopotamus · 19/06/2016 18:23

Also, I think BPC managed to get through this episode without saying 'Mark me'!!

hudyerwheesht · 19/06/2016 19:31

I know, hipho, he must have used them all up last week. I was bracing myself for one, since he was doing a speech.

I did love his big flounce-off though.

About to watch it again. Loved it. Love Scotland so much.
Think we are seeing Jamie getting his mojo back after Wentworth, he really is going from strength to strength......love the guy.
Agree about Dougal.....kind of seeing the light.
Loved the Gaelic bit a and the humour.
Great. Can't wait for next week.
