Ok, like our sister thread for those who have read the books, this is for discussion of Outlander Series 2 but for those who have not read the books and/or don't want any spoilers.

Had my Sunday morning fix.
Won't say anymore until everybody's watched it.

AKAmyself · 05/06/2016 11:39

have watched! Loved it overall. The things that bothered me are some deviations from the books, so have commented on the other thread...

Verbena37 · 05/06/2016 12:00

One massive thing bothers me.....

Je suis prest isn't I am ready in French.

Je suis prêt is the masculine and

Je suis prête is the feminine.

I've popped je suis prest into the translator and it turns up nothing.

Why have they put Je suis prest?

AKAmyself · 05/06/2016 12:15

that is actually the actual real motto of Clan Fraser (I've looked it up :D)

From what I remember of learning french, the wiggly accent is there when there used to be an s which was later dropped. Therefore I think it's 18th century french!

Verbena37 · 05/06/2016 12:30

Aha, so the circumflex replaces the s.
Phew.....thank goodness I didn't tweet anything like my post above to Starz
Grin.

Lessstressedhemum · 05/06/2016 13:48

Circumflex always replaces an s. Old French would have been prest, modern French has dropped the s. There are lots of French words like that.

Drywhitethanks · 05/06/2016 16:37

Just seen it, loved it...didn't mind deviations from book, prefer a ties anyway. Jamie looking super sexy.

MinervaMcG · 06/06/2016 17:58

I am definitely getting a bit obsessed by the knitwear too. But mostly it's Jamie.

hudyerwheesht · 07/06/2016 15:10

I had to wait until last night to watch it as we were away for the weekend.

I enjoyed it though. Jamie is looking much, much better. Delighted to see the return of Dougal, et al. I thought it was well acted when he had to obey Jamie, it was unusual seeing his strong character almost submissive (if that's the right word..?)

The big excitement for me was hearing my own wee hometown's name mentioned (the captured soldier said he was heading there).
I know, easily pleased. But it's such a tiny, unknown town it was a surprise to hear it's name as I can't imagine it was ever used for gathering an army during to fight the Jacobite Rebellion. Confused
DG must have just liked the sound of it.

I've seen a wee bit of filming as they've used quite a few Fife locations.
Disappointed in lack of naked Jamie this season..

Drywhitethanks · 08/06/2016 16:30

Watched the wedding episode again last night for research purposes and SH has bulked up a bit. Funny how much younger they both seem too.

hudyerwheesht · 08/06/2016 22:13

Someone at work has finally taken my advice and started watching S1. She has been frantically texting me using words like "I'm hooked/obsessed" and saying all the same things I did.

Jamie did look awesome this episode. Some of it was slightly dull but the last 20 minutes were great.

Anybody know what's occurring over on the Outlander Twitter feeds?
Stuff about fans and SH and CB not being so open anymore because of something. William Shatner has been posting stuff

I just can't work out what it's all about?

snozzlemaid · 09/06/2016 17:07

Don't know Verbena. I've missed that. I'll have a look.

Verbena37 · 09/06/2016 17:52

Think it might have been something between two fan groups.

hudyerwheesht · 09/06/2016 19:02

I've had a quick look but I can't see anything - though I can't really get my head around Twitter feeds.

I did learn that the finale is going to be 90 minutes long though, yay!

William Shatner's saying a lot of bullying has been going on. Something to do with the shippers and people who are convinced Sam and Cait are in a real relationship. But cant find anything of the original comments.
I have a feeling WS stirs things up unnecessarily though. He had a right go at Stephen Walters (angus) who recently joined twitter and was having a tongue in cheek laugh on there.
Terry Dressbach (costume designer) has said she and her husband Ron have received lots of bullying tweets too.
What the hell is wrong with fans. Can't they all just appreciate and support the show together.

hudyerwheesht · 09/06/2016 19:41

Exactly. It's just ridiculous and makes it sound like all us die hard fans are bloody bonkers. I do not want to be lumped in with those idiots.
My obsession is perfectly healthy. Grin

Just marking place as this has dropped off my threads list.

Also agree with this. Especially as (I'd imagine and from Twitter avatars) that a lot of these fans are middle-aged women (I know I am Wink). It's ridiculous. Do they not realise that SH and CB are actors and real people and are not actually Jamie and Claire? Hmm

snozzlemaid · 09/06/2016 20:20

I agree. I don't want anyone thinking I'm as mad as that. A few bonkers fans unfortunately give us all a bad name.
Thank god we all seem 'normal' on here. And we can enjoy our healthy obsession nicely together.

TheHiphopopotamus · 09/06/2016 20:24

snozzle William Shatner does appear to like sticking his oar in. I'm not quite sure what's going on there tbh. Is he hoping for a part in the next series?
