Blood of my blood is what the Khal's say to their blood riders.

TheNorthRemembers · 23/05/2016 22:33

Thank you for the trust, I am not sure I am up to it.

Wights are just reanimated corpses, as EverySongbird says, the cannon fodder. White walkers are magical creatures capable of sorcery, the sort knights in their army.

I love the actor who plays Euron (Kasper Juul from Borgen, whatever his real name is).

EverySongbirdSays · 23/05/2016 22:33

Littlefinger would have heard whispers. He, like Varys, always knew the goss.

The Stark children were taught houses and knew (because Jon) of bastards but wouldn't have been educated about bastards of various men because they had no social standing and the Starks were the Westeros equivalent of "society" (highborn) additionally though Robb, Jon, and Theon may have heard about Ramsey, Roose Bolton's psycho bastard but they would hardly have reached Sansa's Sewing Circle With The Septa.

Yes you are right, it was my sun and stars I was thinking of. Sorry.

TheNorthRemembers · 23/05/2016 22:35

Someone suggested the end of the Tower of Joy scene upthread, as blood of my blood.

EverySongbirdSays · 23/05/2016 22:37

I've not read WOIAF yet, so anything historical pre-book is over to you North Grin

OP posts:
BelfastBloke · 23/05/2016 22:37

Roose Bolton was NOT a 'minor lord in the North'. He was THE non-Stark lord in the North.

Planesmistakenforstars · 23/05/2016 22:37

Blood of my blood could be Aegon, if they're going down that route with the show

BelfastBloke · 23/05/2016 22:46

Just think about how long ago GRRMartin plotted that Hodor scene; he created why Hodor could only say one word.

Upthread someone posted the "inside the episode" video, where the producers described getting chills down their spines when they heard from GRRM how Hodor dies.

EverySongbirdSays · 23/05/2016 22:58

I've been over to Westeros.org for a nose and it's complicated but the cool ones are like their own race, like a mythological race similiar to that of Celtic mythology with various abilities, they can reanimate the dead.

So the wights are just reanimated corpses and the White Walkers are like a team of Ice Warrior types that are well hard.

OP posts:
RJnomore1 · 23/05/2016 23:04

So any idea where the rest of the white walkers came from then?

Are they the babies who were left out in the woods? Is that why there are no female ones?

TheNorthRemembers · 23/05/2016 23:07

Belfast I live in the North. It is the same as in the book, no one cares or knows about the North. I mean no one. They specifically say in he beginning of GoT how the Stark lands are huge, bigger than any other kingdom and they are very insular from the rest.
Lord Bolton's heir Domeric was fostered in the Vale, so he may have been known there. But he was a good egg, and until Ramsay killed him there was no reason to hear about Ramsay. Ramsay was only legitimised very recently and only moved to the Dreadfort when he was in his teens.

EverySongbird True about Sansa probably did not care about gossips about bastards. Silly me. Overcomplicating things. Nevertheless I doubt Littlefinger knew about Ramsay, the treacherous b*stard he is.

Sorry, just finished watching and I am still crying. Bran is not my favourite character now, let us put it this way.
Sadly Bloodraven is definitely gone, so I am not sure whether to pray for Bran to survive or for someone less impulsive to come along and take over.

Blood of my blood will be Benjen as well, and he would finally tell us what he knows [looking very sternly at Benjen]. A girl wants answers (and a book).

GRRM is amazing.

TheNorthRemembers · 23/05/2016 23:09

RJ We were led to believe that the white walkers are Craster's sons, that is why Gilly fled. He had a boy and the boys are given to the Others.

Bonnibell · 23/05/2016 23:09

Sad DH just turned to me with saddest face telling me he honestly didn't think the would kill Hodor. I had to remind him this is Game of Thrones.

EverySongbirdSays · 23/05/2016 23:11

Some of them are, yeah, we've seen that. The first one was created by COTF magic and we have seen him create more, I don't know what makes a difference between turning someone Walker and turning them Wight. Whether they are alive or dead at the time I guess.

So that's why people think Benjen is Coldhands and that the guy in the very first episode, one of the Royce's, is also a walker now.

OP posts:
RJnomore1 · 23/05/2016 23:15

Yes that makes some sense although there's no baby ones around which makes me wonder how it works. Sorry I have a habit of over analysing! Perhaps there's a little ice cave of tiny White walkers somewhere.

Also if the night King is as old as he should be that's thousands of years of babies so he should have more sentient troops surely? Or is this new and was he alone for centuries?

(I'm really just distracting myself from poor dead hodor. Who will be a zombie now 😞)

I keep getting craster and walden Frey confused. Thank you for your patience!

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 23/05/2016 23:15

Isaac Hempstead Wright, who plays Bran, posted this on Twitter after the episode ended: Nice one, Bran

EverySongbirdSays · 23/05/2016 23:15

Though I can see why hating Bran is happening, he had NO CLUE he was going to kill Hodor. The anguish on his face! Bloody blood raven fucking knew though. Basically took him there to do it.

OP posts:
Alisvolatpropiis · 23/05/2016 23:18

If he hadn't climbed the tower, Ned wouldn't have ended up getting his head chopped off and none of the resulting mess would have happened.

At heart the message is - listen to your mum or bad things happen. Grin

SerJorahsSecondChoice · 23/05/2016 23:19

DH and I just stared blankly at the screen for about a minute and we knew what was coming! But fuck me that was an absolutely amazing episode (got a bit tearful at Jorah and Dany too).

But that ending was haunting. A bit confusing though. I personally don't think Bran knew what he was doing when he warged into Wyllis - surely he just heard Meera shouting that he had to make Hodor hold the door, then Bloodraven said 'listen to your friend' so he warged into Wyllis without knowing why he had to hold the door... Am I missing something? I did get a bit confused. Did Bran warg into Wyllis because he was trapped there because Bloodraven was dead and he couldn't get back to the present on his own? Did he warg into Hodor? Was that before or after warging into Wyllis? Was he in both at the same time?? What happened???!!

EverySongbirdSays · 23/05/2016 23:20

Craster - Wildling bastard who rapes his daughters and gives his sons to the Walkers, lives beyond Wall

Walder Frey - Treacherous bastard who killed Robb Stark for not marrying one of his many daughters who are all called Walda

OP posts:
EverySongbirdSays · 23/05/2016 23:23

He warged into Wylis because Bloodraven told him to but also he could hear Meera shouting

WE NEED HODOR WE NEED HODOR OR WE ARE ALL GONNA DIE

because Hodor had panicked and was rocking and she needed him to get Bran out as she didn't have the strength.

Hold The Door didn't happen until later when they got outside.

OP posts:
RJnomore1 · 23/05/2016 23:24

It was all the daughters which has me confused.

Jorah will be ok, we already know from shireen it can be stopped/cured and he will do everything now Dani has commanded him.

I luffs jorah. A lot. ☺️

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 23/05/2016 23:31

Though I can see why hating Bran is happening, he had NO CLUE he was going to kill Hodor. The anguish on his face! Bloody blood raven fucking knew though. Basically took him there to do it.

His impetuousness led to Hodpr's death; he wouldn't listen to the Three Eye'd Raven who told him to leave when faced with an army of Whytes, which led to the Night's King grabbing him, which led to the breach of the Tree and so on. Basically he was being a teenager and ovs they always know best Wink

EverySongbirdSays · 23/05/2016 23:34

It didn't though (his impetuousness)

Whatever happened, happened.

Wylis became Hodor when Ned was a child. Full circle.

It was destiny.
