Yes once it gets down to the final three they lavish praise on them whether it's deserved or not. That shepherd's pie looked completely underwhelming.

I think what it came down to was that his tasted great and Juanita's didn't. Presentation is perhaps less important than taste and Billy's dish was the winner in that respect. If Juanita had used less flavours I think she would have been the one to go through.

There is a chance that Billy might win. A horrific chance, but a chance nonetheless.

I want to try that shepherd's pie on DP later... I expect he'll suggest we get a Domino's in when he sees it Grin

Quietly, that's made my day !

Yep I said to dh they would always go for flavour over appearance and whilst Billy's looked a mess it tasted good. Juanita had theatre and is amazing but ultimately if the taste didn't work then it's like Annie all over again. I was surprised Juanita went for dessert as I think she is stronger on mains (Strawberry patch aside!) Am also out tonight but will generously offer to get up with ds tomorrow morning to let dh have a lie in 😉

Pulls up a comfy chair and prays that bollocking bastard Virgin doesn't have another wobbly in my area this evening. I am expecting a reduction in my bill this month or the twittersphere will be going ape shit.
I like Jack's cooking, I have warmed to Billy, I think Jane had grown in confidence over the competition. I can't get a fag paper between them to be honest.
I am getting more and more pee'd off with Greg(g) and will not miss his stupid face once this is over. I still luffs that hairy Marcus though Grin

Ohh place marking for later too. We are pro Jack in our house. Even Marcus picked up on MoF yesterday. Do you think he'd been on here!

Hahaha... yes! His question to Jane was almost like someone had dared him to see if he could prise the words "mum of four" out of her mouth, he had a twinkle in his eye when he asked!

Has go be Jack to win right? He does classic & new, innovative stuff well. He's great at savoury and sweet. He is calm under pressure. He'd represent the Masterchef brand really well. But me thinks Jane will win because of her "journey".

Wish they'd cooked their own food for chef's table yesterday. Of course the food was going to be nice yesterday when they had a three star Michelin chef and his assistant checking everything - they wouldn't have served it unless they were 100% happy with it, so I don't know what that proved.

Indeed Rousdettte though suspect it's probably pre recorded.

Yeah last night was a bit tiresome with all the guest chefs creaming themselves over this New York guy. I mean, that beef thing did look bloody tasty but how was it a proper task? They had the chef right there at their elbows AND his sous chef telling them how to do everything! Particularly when the sous chef tasted the potato and was all "more butter...oh and more seasoning" I was like "Oi! No!"

We did cackle loudly at Billys potato mountain though. That's got to make it on to Gogglebox.

Juanitas sounded rank though - chocolate, blueberries, aniseed and fennel?? Bleuuuugh.

We're going to get their 'inspirational' stories tonight aren't we? We'll see the contestants at home looking dreamy eyed out a window saying things like 'I'm a qualified brain surgeon..............but I want more for my family. I want to open my own gastro pub in Shropshire'.

Jane is going to be blubbing from the theme tune tonight, isn't she?

I was a bit Hmm in one of th earlier episodes when she said she had to go home after a triumphant heat and a hard days filming and still make the tea. Seriously, couldn't one of them have chucked some frozen pizzas in the oven??? They must be old enough.

No worries Worried I get called all sorts, not a problem! Smile

Yes ... thinking about it... this has all been recorded ages ago hasn't it? A bit like GBBO (which incidentally is the most fave cooking prog in this house!) so Marcus was just twinkling anyway, nothing to do with this thread soz Squoosh Grin

Didn't Simon say (last year, was it?) that he had to keep it quiet for weeks? Pre-recorded, then.

So glad Juanita got the boot. Her strawberry dessert was impressive but she didn't inspire me generally.

Jack is the obvious, but I'd like it to be Billy - think the shepherd's pie might have killed that one, though. Not Jane, though I love her work.

You're right there was a surgeon, she was the one who was told by the moon faced Gregg that chocolate and ginger didn't work well together (!). I liked her, you could tell she thought he was an utter plonker. There always seem to be quite a few high flying (and high earning) participants. I'm sure food is their passion but do they really want to give up the rat race for a £20,000 job in a professional kitchen?

It's the same with the GBBO, teeming with anaesthetists and the like!

As this show is prerecorded months ago I suspect the press already know who it is that wins.the bbc editing team are definitely bias

Jack is by far the best cook but we will see what happens later.

Can't wait to see the family interviews and listen to all the BS ....so proud.........amazing.....on a journey... Blah blah
