(After our antenatal thread became somewhat hijacked with talk of Doctor Who)

Hello,

My name's (usually) MsMoss and I've been a Doctor Who Geek for over twenty years now. I grew up with McCoy, stood by it through its years in the wilderness and now watch, proud but slightly bemused, as it is no longer shameful to admit you're a fan.

Anyone else with me? You love the new series but don't want the old to be forgotten?

Join me, stand up and be counted!

Mossy - do you think it would be over the top to have a mural of daleks and cybermen painted on the wall in DS's bedroom???

3rdTriMossTer · 18/01/2007 10:01

I don't think so!

Too few monsters, actually, imo!!!

I only found it, I didn't do it! But yes, it's "Terry & June". There is another version with "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life" over the credits, and yet another with "Happy days Are Here Again"! Bit harsh.

What I like of the DW stuff on YouTube is the trailers people have done for the old series in the style of the new Next Time bits - the one for "City of Death" is well worth checking out.

The Terrance Dicks books can still be picked up in charity shops and on eBay - I think they have long ago made way for the new series spin-offs (they don't do "novelisations") any more, although he has done one of the new ones . It's a QuickRead but I think it's the first Martha book.

3rdTriMossTer · 18/01/2007 11:27

Aw poor Adric. Bless his little cotton socks!

Well, I was thinking of lots of soft cloth books with mirrors and piccies of babies in them... but come to think of it, why don't I just start him young??

Fubsy · 18/01/2007 13:18

Ive been lurking on this for a while - had to say the youtube clip really cheered me up.

This is much more interesting than Jade Goody!

AshNotTheHousewaresOne · 18/01/2007 13:54

got my complete set of target novelisations ready to pass on to the kidlings....some even signed by cuddly uncle terrance!

3rdTriMossTer · 18/01/2007 14:03

Hello Fubsy - come and join the merry throng!

If you scroll down quite a way there's a questionnaire on who is your favourite Who and that kind of thing - go on, fill it in!

There's also a quiz further down but it's vvvvvv difficult, I only got a few right.

Ash when did you meet him?

OP posts:
foxabout2pop · 18/01/2007 17:45

Hi Fubsy

agree Dr Who is far more interesting than Jane Goody.

She's thick and he's thin.

3rdTriMossTer · 18/01/2007 17:57

She's thick and he's FIT!

Right, I'm going to go to the station and keep my fingers crossed that a train might take me home. I'm not getting a bus in "my condition"!

OP posts:
foxabout2pop · 18/01/2007 18:08

Good luck, hope you get home safely.

Sometimes don't you just feel like shouting "Beam me up, Scottie!!"

nikkie · 18/01/2007 19:09

This dr who addiction sure adds up , trying to stop myself buying dvds, toys and now books too.

3rdTriMossTer · 18/01/2007 21:28

Oh Foxy if I could beam to my house from work that'd be just great!

I was very lucky to get a train home; loads of them had been cancelled! Took dh about four hours though for what's normally a twenty minute journey. I take it all back about wishing I could drive and how crappy public transport is!

Nikki it is an expensive, addictive business you're not kidding! But still, s'pose it's not going on beer money

OP posts:
nikkie · 18/01/2007 22:09

Its been 8 years since I did 'beer money' or 5 since I did beer

Fubsy · 18/01/2007 23:17

OK, I failed miserably at the quiz, but heres my poll:

fave doc? david tennant/Jon Pertwee/Patrick Troughton (Im older than i look!)

fave story? Yeti/Green Death

fave companion? Rose

fave villain? the master

fave monster? Daleks

saddest piece of merchandise owned? too many Dr Who videos for a woman of my age!

fave supporting character? Capt Jack/Brigadier

Edam · 18/01/2007 23:23

3rdtri found bubble bath at ToysRUs, would you believe! Sorry, haven't checked back on this thread for a couple of days (real life keeps interrupting and when I finally got back on MN I forgot all about it. Sheesh.)

UnquietDad · 19/01/2007 09:21

Doctor: Tom Baker
Story: either "City of Death" or "Talons of Weng-Chiang"
Companion: Sarah Jane Smith, although I am quite into Nyssa at the moment. Especially in her little dress from "Mawdryn undead"...
Villain: Davros
Monster: Daleks
saddest piece of merchandise owned? I had Tom Baker and Leela dolls... still in a box at my parents' house... and we took DD's David Tennant figure to meet them when we visited ...
Supporting character? I'll have to think about that one.

foxabout2pop · 19/01/2007 18:45

unquietdad - LOL at the thought of you taking your DT doll to meet the others!

3rdTriMossTer · 20/01/2007 08:38

Gosh Inferno's a bit dark isn't it!? Watching on UK Gold +1 of course I have to get up at six in the week so I like a lie-in of a weekend!

Sadly once again I'll miss about the last hour of it 'cos of my driving lesson. Right I'm going to have to make a birthday list. Although I'm not sure it'll be taken quite as seriously as my "things we have to have for the baby before he is born" list.

I wonder if I could slip a few Doctor Who DVDs onto the second list; do you think anyone'd notice?

Nikki it's been about six and a half months since I did beer I'm looking forward to a huge pint of Theakston's Old P in April!!

UQD and did they all get on?

OP posts:
ludaloo · 20/01/2007 08:53

hello...I just wondered if anyone could tell me when dr who is back on? we watched the christmas episode with catherine Tate in it and my kids are big fans...but I haven't seen one since...is it back on yet??

Thank you xx

foxabout2pop · 20/01/2007 09:14

Ludaloo - The official line is that Dr Who will return "in the Spring", but apparently it will be March/April.

Anyone else have inside info on it's return?

3rdTriMossTer · 20/01/2007 11:07

Yes, that's what we need. Bit of insider info.

Come on... there has to be someone on here who knows exactly when he's coming back....?

OP posts:
ludaloo · 20/01/2007 11:18

oohhhh nooo Its that long to wait! I was half hoping I had just missed the start

3rdTriMossTer · 20/01/2007 12:55

Well, here is some info on the next series... very interesting, but doesn't say when it starts!

OP posts:
UnquietDad · 20/01/2007 14:14

Most likely to be Easter weekend for the new series.

Yes, they all got on and we staged a "Two Doctors" reunion photo!!

"Inferno" - 3rd, you will have missed the best bit! Do you want to know what happens at the end??

JackieNo · 20/01/2007 14:50

Have any of you seen the site called The Doctor Sings - Tom Baker's voice (from when BT had him as one of the voices you could have texts read out to you in), and music. Very funny.
