Hi, the sling that Yannic used on the programme is a Huggababy, which is a padded ring sling, and they are fabulous, as they are so versatile, I got it when he was about 6 month old, after endless month of trying to get to grips with a Babybjoern, which I found so uncomfy and found him to be soooo heavy, but the Huggababy is just fabulous and has always been our mainsling ever since.
We used it with ys aswell, from Birth, and even though he is a lil porker, I still use it every now and then wiht him, but it's actually easier to carry Yannic in it, even though he is a Ib or 2 heavier then Flynn, but he is longer and the weight distributes better, I suppose
Yannic can be a lil lazy toad, lol, so, we took the sling just incase...but yeah, he doesn't really use it now.
Sorry to be so long winded.

Who watched this last night?
Cannot bear that Sam, I hope Alex has dumped her!

Thanks 3andnomore, that looks great. Dd is 18 months and loves to walk everywhere. I'm defiantly going to get one of these slings so I don't need to drag the buggy with us for when her little legs get tired

MummyPenguin · 16/01/2007 09:51

Yep, I watched last night! Sam is unbearable isn't she? God, she's such a whinger! I thought that the Mum of the two boys that Alex and Sam had was a bit hard on Alex, tbh. I think he did a great job as usual. They were hyper boys. The Mum criticised him for not supervising them when they went downstairs when they got up, but he's 18, he probably didn't think, and he actually admitted to that on the programme. Also the Mum's whinging that there was an argument between Alex and Sam 'around her boys and they're just not used to that.' They were hardly throwing things at each other! I think Alex has reached the end of his tether with Sam and it just spilled over. I don't think it does kids any harm to see a healthy argument. How else are they supposed to learn about differences of opinion, expressing yourself, and of course, making up. Sam was being ridiculous after the little boy threw up, okay some people do have a vomit phobia, but once the lad was cleaned up and in the car, she wouldn't even go out and say bye to them. I think she's trying to be a bit of a diva, but she's just coming across as a major pain in the arse. Karl makes me laugh! I think he and Kayleigh coped well with three kids, a dog and snails - and a sleepover! Ava is a lovely girl, she was lovely to their lad. I hope Fisnick is waking up and smelling the coffee, or he'll lose her. Had to laugh when Ava was having a bitch about the neigbours to her friends that visited. Why weren't Raiesa and Kallai in it last night? You only saw them at the beginning when they were given a child who had two pet rabbits, then that was it, they weren't featured again. Teenagers for the teenagers tonight. Should be interesting again. Will they lay down the law, or will it be one big house party?

3andnomore · 16/01/2007 17:42

mummypenguin, must say, I agree sam isn't doing herself a favour...maybe she wants to be "The Nicky" of the Baby Borrowers...very childish. As for the getting up wiht the Kids in the morning once the 5 and over...must admit, once they are that age I probably would also try to get 40 more winks till get up time, surely Kids that age can look after themselfs...or maybe I am just a rotten mum, lol....I just wish my 2 younger ones would be old enough to have them get up by themselfs, lol.
MUst say, I felt uneasy watching the younger lad with Sam and Alex...kept thinking, what if Yannic doesn't calm down but just grows up and becomes more energetic..I mean, what am I gonna do then...yikes....
Raissa and Kallai probably coped really well with teh Kids they had, so, there wasn't anything interesting to show...hm...that is the only thing that annos me a bit, that they don't show more of the good bits as they come up, lol!
I thought the 10 year old that didn't get food a whole day would be on yesterday, might be on tonight, or maybe they ratehr didn't show it, who knows!
Can't wait for tonights show...I think it will be realllly good, as they will be faced with similar tantrums...should be even harder to decide tonight which ones are the Baby Borrowers and which ones are the Kids they look after!

Pinkchampagne · 16/01/2007 17:46

I have been guilty of sending my 2 down to watch a bit of Nick Junior on occasions when they have got up mega early & I was no way ready to get up & face the day!

3andnomore · 16/01/2007 20:32

Hm, just watched the friends and family show, and it does seem as if it was the boy in raeissa's care that wasn't fed...although, it seemed to have been more about mainmeals, rather then him not eating at all...or did I misunderstand?

3andnomore · 16/01/2007 23:23

Well, that was just a very interesting episode, lol....!
But awww on the lil lad that Ryan and Lauren had, I think they coped quite well, and awww when Ryan said how he felt that he not just let himself down but also let the lil Lad down....!

SparklyGothKat · 16/01/2007 23:24

Tonights was good. I think that Ryan and Lauren were put into a horrible situation. As a parent of 2 children with cerebral palsy, I thought it was harsh for them. It took me and DH ages to get used to fact we had a disabled child and it is hard, everyday life is hard. And to do that to a unprepared teenage couple was very harsh. If it is your own child, you learn to adapt, but they were thrown straight in.

Pinkchampagne · 17/01/2007 08:23

So annoyed - I missed last nights episode! I went to see a friend & had one too many glasses of wine. I came home in time to watch this, but ended up falling asleep instead!!
Was it good?

OP posts:
MummyPenguin · 17/01/2007 09:38

It was good. I think Ryan and Lauren are great. They were so sensitive to the lad with CP. Ryan especially had a genuine concern and affection for him. I haven't been watching the friends and family show. Usually too busy at that time of the evening. Have I missed much?

3andnomore · 17/01/2007 10:46

I agree it was a harsh to give a completely unprepared couple a child with CP, but I felt they dealt amazing with it, and hopefully showing that lil lad and how is was able to lead quite a normal life dispite the fact that his real parents were told he would not walk nor talk, hopefully it gives people in that situation a bit of hope.
I am glad though that they were sensible enough to put that lad in with Ryan and Lauren, as I don't think the other couples would have been able to cope at all and that would not have been fair on the lad...think Alex may have coped ok, but Sam wouldn't...oh and maybe Carl and Kayleigh (sp?) would have been alright, but still think that Ryan and Lauren were the best choice for that lad.
Felt sorry for Ava and Fisnik, I mean, come on, to invite 2 girls for sleepover...wonder if those girls were real friends or just got the hint of the possibility of being in a TV show...I hope the girl wasn't used in such way by them. But she definately showed how looks can be a bit deceiving, I mean she sort of looked quite harmless (i.e. not tarted up, lol) but had certainly had a mind of her own, and not sure it was a great move of Carl to let them sleepover there...wonder if the real parents of those guests knew about any of that?
As for the Friends and Family show, there is obviously some sscenes from the programme the night before, but there are also some things you don't see on the main programme, and not just the friends and Family, lol....so, still worth watching
Can't wait to tomorrow, but already feel sorry for whomever has to move into Sam and Alexes House....

TrinityRhino · 17/01/2007 10:48

I haven't watched the teenager one yet, I have it recoreded but just when I heard they were getting teenagers I felt it was a little unfair, I was 22 when my stepson came to live with us, he was 15 and I found it incredibly hard going beacuse of the small age gap and the fact that teenagers just don't listne. you are in an even more difficult situation if they aren't yours. I can't wait to watch it.

MummyPenguin · 17/01/2007 13:27

I couldn't believe how old the 14 year old girl looked who Ava and Fisnick got.

3andnomore · 17/01/2007 16:27

Just found this newspaper article about Ryan and Lauren....
link

MummyPenguin · 17/01/2007 17:31

Oh, I'm surprised that they've split up. They seemed the most 'together' of the couples. Still, they're young, and it happens.

I couldn't help thinking that Rhiannon, the 12 yr old girl that Alex and Sam got, looks like Donkey in Shrek.

Just being obliging.
