This is great stuff! I think Amanda (baby Apolla's Mum) is superb! She really handles the teens well without being patronising - I'm in my late 30's and I could have done with one of her pep talks when I first had my DD!

Pinkchampagne · 11/01/2007 23:10

I totally agree - she's great!

Baby Bethany - how sweet is she? No wonder Lauren was a bit tearful when her Mum came to collect her.
Just as well Kayleigh's pg scare was a false alarm!
I just saw the clips for tomorrow night - I am not missing this!

Tomorrows episode looks very interesting!

Shame that none of them seems to have made much of any of the rewards of parenting - purely the hard slog of it. But you can't simulate the emotional bond.

I'm still pretty hopeless with other people's children, but I'm told I make a pretty good mother to my own.

minipluffmum · 11/01/2007 23:41

good point Purple! The teens are probably finding out more about their relationships with each other than whether or not they would be good parents to their own kids - as you say, it's not something you can teach, you never know how strongly you will feel about your children till you have them. And those feelings bring their own pressures too.

Alex will definitely make someone a wonderful husband/father one day. Lets all hope he sees sense, gets rid of Sam and finds himself a good woman who isn't so self absorbed before she accidentally on purpose gets pregnant and lands him with a baby while she goes out all the time and worries about her hair too much whilst having a go at him 24/7. Oh she needs a good slap!

MummyPenguin · 12/01/2007 12:06

Agree on Alex and Sam. Lauren and Ryan were really good with Bethany, and yes, isn't she cute? Her real Mum didn't look much older than the teens on the prog though. You can really see Laurn and Ryan as parents one day, and I think they'd do a grand job. Kallai has done well with Apolla too. His girlfriend is useless. Tonight with the toddlers should be interesting. And wait till they get the older kids - and their pets!!

ledodgy · 12/01/2007 12:13

I'm loving this series. Last night when Alex and his girlfriend were arguing and she was saying he'd done nothing all day when she'd been at work was so accurate to what can actually happen with a working a stay at home parent. Especially when he was saying he'd had the baby all day and she hadn't even told him that he was doing a good job etc.

Pinkchampagne · 12/01/2007 22:03

Can't wait for tonights episode with the toddlers! I think they even have to tackle toilet training!

she is isn't she, makes me cringe,

sam isn't doing much better, well shes not as nasty as rhiesa but she just leaves it all to alex

MummyPenguin · 12/01/2007 23:28

The teenagers are given toddlers to cope with for three days. The first thing that struck me, is how the toddlers didn't cry when their Mums left, and didn't cry for their Mums during their time with the teenagers. Ava and Fisnick did better this time with their toddler, who wasn't a particularly easy child. I think his whining would have set my teeth on edge - and as for his habit of getting up at 4.30 a.m. and wanting breakfast he's obviously had no routine. Also as he's toilet training, and seemed to be in the fairly early stages, why wasn't he put in a nappy at night? Madness. Sam still as useless as ever, and glad that 'her' and Alex's toddler's Mum told her so at the end. In fact she was quite gentle with her. As for Raeisa, and Sam for that matter, I don't really know why they agreed to take part in an experiment like this to be honest, they're just not interested. They probably just wanted to get on telly. Kallai hasn't done too bad, all things considered. Ryan and Lauren are doing well, as are Karl and Kayleigh.

Pinkchampagne · 12/01/2007 23:30

I agree! She didn't want to know when left alone with the toddler & his parents were not impressed & I'm glad they gave it to her straight!
I'm glad Alex took a step back this time though.

I have a feeling that Alex & Sam are not going to stay together much longer!

Mummy penguin, Yannic is my child, and he has got a very good routine, he goes to bed at 7pm at home and wakes up between 6-7am, but usually hasn't got a nap in the day, but of course, due to filming, etc.....this routine was a wee bit interupted, he had a late night the night before with everything going on, a early start with getting onto the set and a 3 hour nap in that day whilest they were out shopping.....
His potty training was not in the early stages and he did and does where nappies in the night, it's only the bowelmovement he has probs with, btw, which apprently isn't to uncommon!
But, yeah Yannic is a very lifely and active lil boy, and yes, ava and fisnik did quite well.

Pinkchampagne · 13/01/2007 09:16

Wow, really, 3andnomore?! We have a famous MN'er!!!
Problems with the poo side of toilet training is very common, especially with boys apparantly! My DS2 took forever to master this & still (11 months on) can have his moments!
