I can't see a thread yet, anyone else as a ridiculously excited as me after seeing the teaser trailer.

I reckon Tommy's married May. Or at least I hope so, 'cos I couldn't stand Grace.

OP posts:
SilverBirchWithout · 02/06/2016 20:46

There was a brief scene in a prison cell where a bloke (can't quite remember who) was intimidated by Tommy into giving the name of the mole. We didn't hear him actually say Father Hughes' name, but afterwards Tommy went to the dinner party when he passed the note to the older Russian woman.'

Nuggy2013 · 02/06/2016 20:51

Nearly time!!!! Slightly over excited about this aren't I 😳😳😳

MrsFring · 02/06/2016 20:54

Ohhh, so Tatiana and the older Russian woman at the penultimate scene in last weeks episode know the the priest is a wrong 'un?

SoleBizzz · 02/06/2016 21:30

I still cannot believe a Brummie accent is on television.

LadyStarkOfWinterfell · 02/06/2016 21:30

Ooer missus this is a bit out there!

SoleBizzz · 02/06/2016 21:32

Why was that Woman doing that to that naked man?

SoleBizzz · 02/06/2016 21:38

Is Tom Hardy always in it?

LadyStarkOfWinterfell · 02/06/2016 21:40

He was in the last series more but this is the first of this one

SoleBizzz · 02/06/2016 21:43

Thanks Lady. It's all sex this episode. Maybe they need ratings.

LadyStarkOfWinterfell · 02/06/2016 21:44

It's a bit mad isn't it?

SoleBizzz · 02/06/2016 21:45

Yes definitely. Lacks substance.

LadyStarkOfWinterfell · 02/06/2016 21:47

this Russian lady is crazy as fuck. I don't like.

SoleBizzz · 02/06/2016 21:48

He got married recently and has cheated already.

LadyStarkOfWinterfell · 02/06/2016 21:49

Which one? They are all married but at least I suppose Tommy is a widower

SoleBizzz · 02/06/2016 21:50

Tge one who was with the Woman with the short blonde hair. He jyst sagged the RussIan.

LadyStarkOfWinterfell · 02/06/2016 21:53

His wife was shot and killed. That's why the mad Russian was saying do you still want her.

SoleBizzz · 02/06/2016 21:54

Ahh ok! Thank you. Men!

MrsFring · 02/06/2016 22:13

Ah such a powerful opening scene. Using Bowie's Lazurus was a stroke of genius, he was a fan apparently.

Rollergirl1 · 02/06/2016 22:56

I'm not really sure what this episode was all about. They think the Russians are going to not pay them so are they planning to steal the jewels instead? Was Tom Hardy only needed to select and price the items so it looks like they don't suspect anything?

What was the deal with the items that they will be transporting on the train being faulty?

Rollergirl1 · 02/06/2016 22:59

Also lots of hands around throat sex tonight. I still think there is something dodgy about painter guy. He put his hands around Pol's throat and she stopped him. Why would you do that with someone you have never been with before. Something not right there.

MrsSpecter · 03/06/2016 00:07

Yay! For Tom Hardy! Glad to see him back, he is a funny fucker in this Grin

Poor arthur that scene with alfie solomans was heartbreaking. He was being goaded and goaded and had to just take it. For tommy. Again.

What info did john get from the spy they have planted in the russian house? All i got from the conversation was that they are all mad and someone wanted him to give them a blow job.

Tatiana is evil!

And yes, lots of throats being squeezed tonight. Confused Didn't like that.

I'm still confused about what this deal is they are supposed to be doing.

They are agreeing with the russians to transport armoured vehicles for £70,000? But now they arent actually going to do it? Or they are but they are sabotaging the guns on the vehicles? For what reason?

Var123 · 03/06/2016 16:01

My (limited) understanding of the Russian business:

Its 1922. There has been a revolution in Russia (1917) followed by a civil war 1918-1920 between the White Russians (supported by the west) and the Red Russians (i.e. the Bolsheviks). The Bolsheviks have won the civil war.
Now the formerly fabulously wealthy Russian aristocrats have fled to other countries with whatever they could carry. They are all pleading poverty and asking for refuge. The British government has given Tatiana and her parents a grace and favour apartment at Hampton Court Palace.
The Russians want to form a new army and attack the Bolsheviks again. They need tanks for this and they are offering £70,000 in jewels as payment.
The British Government have said they will help, but they want to keep their role quiet for the sake of diplomacy, so they have given the Russians Tommy Shelby’s help but the tanks must be seen to be “stolen” as the British government can’t be seen to just hand them over.
The priest represents the British government / establishment.
At first, Tommy planned a way to get the tanks out of the country. Then he discovered that the priest was a double agent working for the Bolsheviks through the Russians embassy in London.
He found out that the Russian government / Soviet government / Bolsheviks (same thing whatever they are called) already knew about the plans to steal the tanks. They were planning to prevent them getting to Russia by blowing up the train as it took the tanks to the port.
Then Tommy found out that the British government knew all about the Soviet ambassadors plan. They wanted them to blow up the train, so that they could catch them in the act of committing a crime in England, and have an excuse to break off diplomatic relations with Russia.
So, the British government were planning to double cross the Russians living in Hampton Court Palace.
When the train got blown up, the British would cast the Russian family adrift and kill the Shelbys so that no one would ever know that the British had been behind the whole scheme.
Tommy asked the Russian ambassador to change his mind about blowing up the train, but he would not because the tanks were too much of a threat to Russia. So, Tommy found out how to disarm the tanks and showed the Russian ambassador that by removing a clip from each tank, he had made them useless. Then, with the tanks no longer posing a threat, the Russian ambassador agreed to not blow up the train after all.
So, next episode, we will have the riot in Birmingham which will cause a distraction whilst the tanks get stolen. Then the tanks will be taken by train, then ship to Russia. The British government will be expecting the train to be blown up, but it won’t. When the tanks arrive in Russia they will be found to be useless.
Tatiana’s family will then, presumably, refuse to hand over the £70k of jewels. However, Tommy has bought the land in front of HCP and paid gypsies to make a messy circle around the mine shaft that he’s having built there. Tommy has contacted his old army tunneller comrades to build a tunnel to the vault at HCP so that he can steal the jewels.

So Tommy wins again, this time beating the British government and the White russians

LadyStarkOfWinterfell · 03/06/2016 16:22

Blimey Var that's really impressive

SilverBirchWithout · 03/06/2016 17:49

Var that's brilliant, although I sort of knew all of that at the time. I'd lost snippets and bits of the intrigue.

MrsSpecter I think John's Blinders spy in the house mentioned that the Russians planned to kill the 3 Shelby brothers.

MrsSpecter · 03/06/2016 17:56

var thank you so much! It all makes complete sense to me now. I never would have got it on my own.

Thanks silver dont know how i managed to miss that! Confused
