Hello! I finally caught up with episode 7 (and also finished book 1 and halfway through book 2 - it was a long 3 days weekend here yaaayyy).

Amazing episode, really well paced, Jamie just perfect despite the clean shave

Can you believe that my hear missed a beat... for Murtagh? He was beyond perfect (and way, way better than in the books) when he got the revelation about claire's TT bullshit.

I thought the fight scene was incredibly well done, even though's Claire's bleeding was somewhat triggering (I had a miscarriage almost exactly a year ago... ). Jamie's face when he sees her at the end broke my heart.

Agreed with all those who are saying the books are better than expected. I dinna care much for book Claire, but god, Jamie is PERRRRFECT.

hudyerwheesht · 16/05/2016 21:49

so sorry or hear that Aka SadFlowers

AKAmyself · 16/05/2016 22:02

thanks Hudyer but don't worry - I'm fine. just a little bit thin-skinned these days. Getting lost in Outlander definitely helps.

Speaking of which... my the Count was HAWT when he accused Jamie of being behind the whole ambush!

AKAmyself · 16/05/2016 22:05

oh and thanks to whoever mentioned it's on iTunes! Now I can finally view season 2 legally in HD :)

snozzlemaid · 16/05/2016 22:10

I'm watching it on ds's Amazon student prime account. He said to me yesterday that he keeps getting emails from Amazon asking him to review Outlander. Hope he doesn't get one every time I watch it. Blush

snozzlemaid · 16/05/2016 22:12

I told him to just write 'Just f*ing brilliant'. Grin

Drywhitethanks · 16/05/2016 22:31

AKA so sorry to hear about that.

Hudyer it won't spoil it at all, was a relief for me actually. And I agree about Jamie bring the perfect romantic hero......also a GSOH to add to the list and BLOODY HELL THE KNEE BOOT COMBO !!!!!!!!!!!!

How did I miss the Fergus duel trigger....must have skimmed that bit Hmm

And this thread will stop at 900 posts........if I'm out could someone fo a Part 2, I'm not sure I could survive without it Smile

We really need a Scottish icon thingy

MistressFraser · 16/05/2016 23:06

Hmmm - Rotten Tomatoes has just 12 episodes listed for season 2.

Not that I want to watch them anyway because of the hideous sadness that you are all hinting at, but fewer episodes means fewer kilts and knees. Unless they go totally knee-tastic in the Scotland scenes...

I am so conflicted. Yes, to more Jamie but no to more sadness and separation. Watching Claire's distress in the opening scenes of this season was just too horrible.

Quick, someone, find me a happy picture.

Dollius01 · 17/05/2016 04:14

Having read most of book 2, we can safely expect a lot of kilt and knee action in the second part of this series, Mistress.

Best I can do at short notice mistress

Outlander Season 2
MistressFraser · 17/05/2016 08:02

That's verra pleasing, pixieg1rl Smile

AKAmyself · 17/05/2016 08:11

Let's find a nice fun name for the next thread! How about:

Lassies of Lallybroch

Is that a dirk in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

AKAmyself · 17/05/2016 08:16

I know that a lot of purists feel the show is deviating too much from book canon. Personally (and I'm halfway through DIA) I am really happy the two are somewhat different as I feel I am getting 2 outlanders for the price of one! By and large I continue to believe they have done an excellent job with adapting the series for the screen - eg the whole pox plot was handled really elegantly and swiftly. I do however feel like they're rushing though this season a little bit too much - I hindsight I think a large part of season ones appeal was how much time they took with their relationship - slowing things right down and occasionally even telling the same story from 2 POVs. I am convinced this is why we're all hooked! We fell in love with those characters as they fell in love with each other. Season 2 feels rushed by comparison... i do wish they'd used some of their clothes budget on more scenes of Claire and Jamie in bed :)

pixieg1rl · 17/05/2016 08:31

Yes, the costume designer has made no secret of how hard the Paris stuff was to do; more bed scenes would have eased her burden somewhat.

Like the new thread title AKA.

Yes, we haven't really had France from Jamie's point of view. Maybe the next episode? That would be an interesting way to show the next part of the story.

AKAmyself · 17/05/2016 08:38

I would love to see the duel scene (and what sparked it..) from Jamie's POV. Here's hoping...

TheHiphopopotamus · 17/05/2016 08:39

I think they've done an excellent job of cutting the waffle out of the books and they've actually turned Claire into a character I like. It's not often I prefer a film or tv series adaptation to the books. Stardust is the only other one I can think of.

Yes, I know I've slagged the books off, but that's probably more because I wanted Jamie and Claire to live at Lallybroch for the next hundred years, doing nothing but shag and living happily ever after. I've loved discussing them though, it's made for interesting reading and I like hearing different points of view. If it wasn't for this thread, I probably wouldn't have bothered picking them up again.

Like the idea of the next thread being called 'Lassies of Lallybroch' or something similar Grin

AKAmyself · 17/05/2016 08:47

Yes, Hip, they've done a great job especially with Claire. But also Murtagh, in the books he's consistently described as a "little clansman" and treated as a servant... In the show he is an altogether more rounded character, fiercely loyal and loving to both Jamie and Claire. And verra funny and - dare I say - eminently watchable :)

MistressFraser · 17/05/2016 08:52

Yy to Lassies of Lallybroch.

Assuming I can get hold of it, do you think it works to read DIA at same time as watching season 2, or will it just be confusing?

And from Rotten Tomatoes, here are the episode titles for the rest of the season, apparently. Anyone want to guess if they will go into book 3?

Dollius01 · 17/05/2016 09:12

Well that's what I am doing and I am not finding it confusing. I have read much further ahead though, so you will have spoilers...

AKAmyself · 17/05/2016 09:29

Im doing that, Mistress, and actually find it really fun. The book is sufficiently different from the show that I feel each has its own value - it is also, surprisingly, better written than first I think! Yes there are spoilers but if you are as obsessed as I am, that's a good thing :D

Lessstressedhemum · 17/05/2016 10:18

They seem to be about to run through the last part of the book too quickly. There is such a lot to cover in the run up to Culloden (and a very great deal of kilt action!) Perhaps if they go quickly, I won't cry as much. From the episode titles, it doesn't appear that they will be going onto the Voyager plot threads.

hudyerwheesht · 17/05/2016 10:55

AKA totally agree with getting 2 Outlanders for the price of one! I've just read the witch trial bit and I actually preferred it to the tv series. The whole near-drowning was nerve-wracking and using the rosary beads made more sense than Jamie just turning up and demanding Claire be released.

10 Prestonpans - that's a tiny village 2 minutes down the road from my sister's house! I doubt they used the real one for the series but they did shoot the mill scene in S1 at Preston Mill just next to it. I was actually there visiting my sister a month later but about a year before I even discovered the series - however I was still irrationally excited to find that out.

Stolen off Twitter (@LaughOutLander), but very fitting given our earlier discussions about THE FRINGE

Ah ah pixie! And bitches like it stubbly, too. Can we lose the razor already?!?
